¹ઈસુ અને તેના શિષ્યો યરૂશાલેમની નજીક જૈતૂન પહાડ પર બેથફગે ગામ સુધી આવ્યા. ત્યારે ઈસુએ બે શિષ્યોને મોકલ્યા.

¹When they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethsphage, TR & NU read “Bethphage” instead of “Bethsphage” to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

²ઈસુએ તેના શિષ્યોને કહ્યું, “જે ગામ તમે સામે જુઓ છો ત્યાં જાઓ. તમે ત્યાં પ્રવેશ કરશો, એટલે એક ગધેડાને અને તેના બચ્ચાંને બાંધેલા જોશો, તેને છોડીને અહીં લઈ આવો.

²saying to them, “Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them, and bring them to me.

³જો કોઈ તમને કઈ પૂછે તો એટલું જ કહેજો કે, ‘પ્રભુને તેની જરુંર છે. પછી એ તેને તરત જ મોકલી આપશે.”‘

³ If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and immediately he will send them.”

⁴પ્રબોધક દ્વારા જે કહેવાયું હતું તે પૂર્ણ થાય તે માટે આમ થયું:

⁴All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,

⁵“સિયોનની દીકરી, ‘જો તારો રાજા તારી પાસે આવે છે. તે નમ્ર છે તથા એક ગધેડા પર, એક કામ કરનાર પ્રાણીથી જન્મેલા નાના ખોલકા પર સવાર થઈન આવે છે.”‘ ઝખાર્યા 9:9

⁵“Tell the daughter of Zion, behold, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9

⁶શિષ્યો ગયા અને ઈસુએ કહ્યું તે પ્રમાણે કર્યુ.

⁶The disciples went, and did just as Jesus commanded them,

⁷શિષ્યો ગધેડી અને નાના ખોલકાને ઈસુ પાસે લાવ્યા. તેઓએ તેમના લૂગડાં ખોલકા પર મૂક્યા, ઈસુ તે પર બેઠો.

⁷and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them.

⁸લોકોમાંથી ઘણાએ પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રો ઈસુના માર્ગમાં બિછાવ્યાં. જ્યારે ઘણા લોકોએ વૃક્ષોની ડાળીઓ કાપીને તેના માર્ગમાં બીછાવી.

⁸A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road.

⁹કેટલાક લોકો ઈસુની આગળ ચાલી રહ્યા હતા, કેટલાક ઈસુની પાછળ ચાલતા હતા. તેઓ પોકારતા હતા, “દાઉદના દીકરાને હોસાન્ના! ‘પ્રભુના નામે જે આવે છે તેને ધન્ય છે. પરમ ઊચામાં હોસાન્ના.’ ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 118:26 આકાશમાં દેવનો મહિમા થાઓ!”

⁹The multitudes who went before him, and who followed kept shouting, “Hosanna “Hosanna” means “save us” or “help us, we pray.” to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” Psalm 118:26

¹⁰પછી ઈસુ યરૂશાલેમમાં દાખલ થયો. શહેરના બધા જ લોકો મૂંઝાઈ ગયા. તેઓએ પૂછયું, “આ માણસ કોણ છે?”

¹⁰When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”

¹¹તે ટોળામાંથી ઘણાએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “આ તો ગાલીલના નાસરેથમાંનો પ્રબોધક ઈસુ છે.”

¹¹The multitudes said, “This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”

¹²ઈસુ મંદિરમાં ગયો અને જેઓ વેચાણ કરવાનો અને ખરીદવાનો ધંધો મંદિરમાં કરતા હતા તે બધાને હાંકી કાઢયા અને શરાફોના ગલ્લા અને કબૂતર વેચનારાઓના આસનો તેણે ઊંધા વાળ્યા.

¹²Jesus entered into the temple of God, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables and the seats of those who sold the doves.

¹³તેણે ત્યાં હાજર હતા તે બધાજ લોકોને જણાવ્યું કે, “શાસ્ત્રમાં લખ્યું છે કે ‘મારું ઘર પ્રાર્થનાના ઘર તરીકે ઓળખાશે.’ પરંતુ તમે તો તેને ‘લૂટારાની ગુફા’ બનાવી દીઘી છે.”

¹³He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ Isaiah 56:7 but you have made it a den of robbers!” Jeremiah 7:11

¹⁴પછી કેટલાક અંધજનો અને અપંગો ઈસુની પાસે આવ્યાં. ઈસુએ તેઓને સાજા કર્યા.

¹⁴The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.

¹⁵મુખ્ય યાજકો અને શાસ્ત્રીઓએ ઈસુએ કરેલા પરાક્રમો જોયા અને “દાઉદના દીકરાને હોસાન્ના,” એવા બાળકોના પોકાર સાંભળ્યા. ત્યારે તેઓ ગુસ્સે થયા.

¹⁵But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the son of David!” they were indignant,

¹⁶મુખ્ય યાજકો અને શાસ્ત્રીઓએ ઈસુને પૂછયું, “આ બાળકો જે કહે છે, તે શું તમે સાંભળો છો?” ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “હા, શાસ્ત્ર કહે છે કે, ‘તેં ઘાવણા બાળકોના મુખે તારી સ્તુતિ કરાવી છે તે યોગ્ય સ્તુતિ છે.’ શું શાસ્ત્રમાં તમે વાંચ્યું નથી?”

¹⁶and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Did you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing babies you have perfected praise?’” Psalm 8:2

¹⁷પછી ત્યાંથી ઈસુ તે સ્થળ છોડીને યરૂશાલેમ નગરની બહાર આવ્યો અને બેથનિયા ચાલ્યો ગયો. અને ત્યાં રાત રોકાયો.

¹⁷He left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

¹⁸બીજે દિવસે વહેલી સવારે, ઈસુ શહેરમાં પાછો ફરતો હતો ત્યારે તે ખૂબજ ભૂખ્યો થયો હતો.

¹⁸Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.

¹⁹ઈસુએ રસ્તાની બાજુએ એક અંજીરનું ઝાડ જોયું અને અંજીર ખાવાની આશાએ તે વૃક્ષ પાસે ગયો, પણ ઝાડ ઉપર એક પણ અંજીર નહોતું. તેના પર કેવળ પાંદડા જ હતાં તેથી તેણે વૃક્ષને કહ્યું, “ભવિષ્યમાં તારા પર કદી ફળ લાગશે નહિ!” અને અંજીરનું ઝાડ તરત જ સૂકાઈ ગયું.

¹⁹Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, “Let there be no fruit from you forever!” Immediately the fig tree withered away.

²⁰શિષ્યોએ જ્યારે આ જોયું ત્યારે અચંબા સાથે ઈસુને પૂછયું, “આ અંજીરનું ઝાડ એકદમ કેમ સૂકાઈ ગયું?”

²⁰When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree immediately wither away?”

²¹ઈસુએ તેમને ઉત્તર આપતા કહ્યું, “હું તમને સત્ય કહું છું, તમને વિશ્વાસ હોય અને મનમાં શંકા ન કરો તો તમે આના કરતાં પણ વિશેષ કરી શકશો. અરે તમે આ પર્વતને કહી શકશો, ‘અહીંથી ઊંચકાઈને સમુદ્રમાં પડ.’ તો તે પ્રમાણે થશે.

²¹Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith, and don’t doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it would be done.

²²જો તમને વિશ્વાસ હોય તો પ્રાર્થનામાં તમે જે કઈ માગશે તે તમને મળશે.”

²² All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

²³ઈસુ મંદિરમાં દાખલ થયો અને જ્યારે બોધ આપતો હતો ત્યારે પ્રમુખ યાજકો અને લોકોના વડીલોએ તેની પાસે જઈને પૂછયું, “કયા અધિકારથી તું આ બાબતો કરે છે? તને આવો અધિકાર કોણે આપ્યો?”

²³When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?”

²⁴ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “હું તમને પણ એક પ્રશ્ન પૂછું છું, એનો ઉત્તર તમે મને આપશો, તો હું તમને કહીશ કે કયા અધિકારથી હું એ કામો કરું છું.

²⁴Jesus answered them, “I also will ask you one question, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

²⁵મને કહો: જ્યારે યોહાને લોકોને બાપ્તિસ્મા આપ્યું ત્યારે તે કોના તરફથી મળ્યું હતું, દેવથી કે માણસથી?” તેઓ અંદર એકબીજા સાથે ચર્ચા કરવા લાગ્યા કે, “જો આપણે કહીશું, ‘યોહાનનું બાપ્તિસ્મા દેવ તરફથી હતું,’ તો ઈસુ આપણને પૂછશે, ‘તો તમે યોહાનમાં વિશ્વાસ કેમ નથી કરતા?’

²⁵ The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?” They reasoned with themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’

²⁶જો એમ કહીશું કે તે મનુષ્યથી હતું, તો એ લોકો આપણા પર ગુસ્સે થશે, આપણે લોકોથી ડરીએ છીએ એટલે આપણને કહેશે તમે યોહાનમાં શા માટે વિશ્વાસ કરતા નથી.”

²⁶But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.”

²⁷તેઓએ ઈસુને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “અમે નથી જાણતા કે યોહાનને અધિકાર ક્યાંથી મળ્યો.” પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “તો હું તમને કાંઈ જ નહિ કહું કે હું કયા અધિકારથી આ કરું છું! ઈસુ બે દીકરાઓની વાર્તા કહે છે

²⁷They answered Jesus, and said, “We don’t know.” He also said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

²⁸“સારું, બતાવો, હું કહું છું તે બાબતમાં તમે શું માનો છો? એક વ્યક્તિને બે દીકરા હતા, પહેલા દીકરાની પાસે જઈને તેણે કહ્યું, ‘આજે તું મારી દ્રાક્ષની વાડીમાં કામ કરવા જા.’

²⁸ But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’

²⁹“પણ દીકરાએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, ‘હું નહિ જાઉં.’ પછી એનું મન બદલાયું અને નક્કી કર્યુ કે તેણે જવું જોઈએ, અને તે ગયો.

²⁹ He answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind, and went.

³⁰“પછી તે પિતા બીજા છોકરા પાસે ગયો અને તેને કહ્યું, “દીકરા, મારી દ્રાક્ષની વાડીમાં જા અને ત્યાં ખેતરમાં કામ કર.’ દીકરાએ કહ્યું, ‘હા સાહેબ, હું જઈશ અને કામ કરીશ.’ પણ તે ગયો નહિ.”

³⁰ He came to the second, and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but he didn’t go.

³¹ઈસુએ પૂછયું, “કયા દીકરાએ પિતાની આજ્ઞાનું પાલન કર્યુ?” યહૂદિ નેતાએ કહ્યું, “પહેલા દીકરાએ.” ઈસુએ તેમને કહ્યું, “હું તમને સત્ય કહું છું કે તમે એમ માનો છો કે કર ઉઘરાવનાર અને વેશ્યાઓ ખરાબ લોકો છે, પરંતુ તેઓ તમારા કરતા આકાશના રાજ્યમાં તમે યત્ન કરશો તેના કરતાં પહેલા પ્રવેશ કરશે.

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the Kingdom of God before you.

³²યોહાન તમને સાચો માર્ગ બતાવવા આવ્યો પણ તમે યોહાનમાં વિશ્વાસ કર્યો નહિ. પણ કર ઉઘરાવનાર અને વેશ્યાઓ તેનામાં વિશ્વાસ કરે છે એમ તમે જુઓ છો છતાં પણ તમે હજી પણ પસ્તાવો કરતાં નથી કે નથી તેનામાં વિશ્વાસ કરતા.

³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn’t even repent afterward, that you might believe him.

³³“આ વાર્તા ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો: એક માણસ હતો તેનું પોતાનું ખેતર હતું તેમા તેણે દ્રાક્ષ વાવી અને તેની ચારે બાજુ એક દિવાલ ચણી હતી. દ્રાક્ષનો રસ કાઢવા કુંડ બનાવ્યો, એક બૂરજ બાંધ્યા પછી કેટલાક ખેડૂતોને તે વાડી ઈજારે આપીને તે પ્રવાસમાં ગયો.

³³ “Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household, who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.

³⁴દ્રાક્ષ ચૂંટવાનો સમય થયો એટલે તેના નોકરોને ખેડૂતો પાસેથી પોતાની દ્રાક્ષનો ભાગ લેવા મોકલ્યો.

³⁴ When the season for the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, to receive his fruit.

³⁵“પણ ખેડૂતોએ આ નોકરોને પકડ્યા અને તેમાના એકને ખૂબ માર્યો. અને બીજા નોકરને મારી નાખ્યો. અને ત્રીજા નોકરને પણ પત્થર વડે મારી નાખ્યો.

³⁵ The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.

³⁶તેથી તે માણસે બીજા નોકરોને ખેડૂત પાસે મોકલ્યો. તે માણસે પહેલા કરતાં વધુ નોકરોને મોકલ્યા તેમની સાથે પણ ખેડૂતોએ તેવું જ વર્તન કર્યુ.

³⁶ Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they treated them the same way.

³⁷એટલે માણસે પોતાના દીકરાને ખેડૂતો પાસે મોકલ્યો. તે માણસે કહ્યું, ‘ખેડૂતો મારા દીકરાને માન આપશે.’

³⁷ But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

³⁸“પણ જ્યારે ખેડૂતોએ ઘણીના દીકરાને જોયો ત્યારે તેઓ અંદર અંદર તેમનામાં વાતો કરવા લાગ્યા કે, ‘આજ તે ઘણીનો દીકરો છે, વારસ છે આ ખેતર તેનું છે માટે જો આપણે તેને પણ મારી નાખીએ તો આ ખેતર આપણું થઈ જશે!’

³⁸ But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and seize his inheritance.’

³⁹તેથી ખેડૂતોએ છોકરાને પકડ્યો અને ખેતરની બહાર ફેંકી દીઘો અને તેને મારી નાખ્યો.

³⁹ So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.

⁴⁰“આ ખેતરનો ઘણી આવશે ત્યારે એ ખેડૂતોને શું કરશે?”

⁴⁰ When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”

⁴¹યહૂદિઓના ધર્મગુરુંઓ અને આગેવાનોએ કહ્યું, “તે ચોક્કસ આ દુષ્ટ માણસોને મારી નાંખશે. અને બીજા ખેડૂતો જે તેમનો પાક થશે ત્યારે ભાગ આપશે તેવા ખેડૂતોને તે ખેતર ભાગે ખેડવા આપશે.”

⁴¹They told him, “He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers, who will give him the fruit in its season.”

⁴²ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “શું તમે શાસ્ત્રમાં નથી વાંચ્યું? ‘બાંધનારાઓએ નકામો ગણીને પડતો મૂકેલો પથ્થર જ ખૂણાનો મુખ્ય પથ્થર બન્યો, એ પ્રભુથી બન્યું, અને આપણી નજરમાં આશ્વર્યકારક છે.’ ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 118:22-23

⁴²Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?’ Psalm 118:22-23

⁴³“એટલે જ હું તમને કહું છું કે દેવનું રાજ્ય તમારી પાસેથી લઈ લેવામાં આવશે. અને એવા લોકોને આપવામાં આવશે કે જેઓ દેવની ઈચ્છા પ્રમાણે રાજ્યોમાં ફળ આવશે.

⁴³ “Therefore I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation bringing forth its fruit.

⁴⁴જે મનુષ્ય આ પથ્થર પર પટકાશે તેના ટુકડેટુકડા થઈ જશે. અને એ પથ્થર જે વ્યક્તિ પર પડશે તેનો ભૂકો થઈ જશે.”

⁴⁴ He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whomever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust.”

⁴⁵મુખ્ય યાજકો અને ફરોશીઓએ ઈસુ પાસેથી આ દૃષ્ટાંત સાંભળ્યું અને તેઓને લાગ્યું કે ઈસુ તેમના સબંધમાં જ કહે છે.

⁴⁵When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke about them.

⁴⁶તેઓ ઈસુને પકડવાનો રસ્તો શોધતા હતા. પણ તેઓ લોકોથી ખૂબ ડરતા હતા, કારણ લોકો ઈસુને પ્રબોધક તરીકે માનતા હતા.

⁴⁶When they sought to seize him, they feared the multitudes, because they considered him to be a prophet.
