¹ઈસુએ લોકોને સમજાવવા માટે બીજી દૃષ્ટાંત વાર્તાઓ કહીં:

¹Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,

²“આકાશનું રાજ્ય એક રાજા જેવું છે કે જેણે પોતાના દીકરાના લગ્ન પ્રસંગે ભોજન સમારંભ ગોઠવ્યો હોય.

² “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,

³રાજાએ કેટલાક માણસોને ભોજન માટે નિમંત્રણ આપ્યું. ભોજન તૈયાર થયું એટલે રાજાએ જમવા માટે લોકોને બોલાવવા તેના નોકરોને મોકલ્યા પણ લોકોએ રાજાના સમારંભમાં આવવાની ના પાડી.

³ and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.

⁴“પછી રાજાએ બીજા વધારે નોકરો મોકલ્યા, રાજાએ નોકરોને કહ્યું, ‘જે લોકોને નિમંત્રણ આપ્યું છે તેમને કહો કે ભોજન તૈયાર છે. મેં મારા સારામાં સારા બળદ અને વાછરડાંને મારીને ભોજન તૈયાર કર્યુ છે. બધુ જ તૈયાર છે માટે લગ્ન નિમિત્તેના ભોજનસમારંભમાં આવો.’

⁴ Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’

⁵“નોકરો ગયા અને લોકોને ભોજન માટે આવવાનું કહ્યું, પણ લોકોએ નોકરોને સાંભળવાની ના પાડી દીઘી, તેઓ પોતાના બીજા કામે ચાલ્યા ગયા. એક પોતાના ખેતરમાં કામ કરવા ચાલ્યો ગયો. જ્યારે બીજો પોતાના ધંધા પર ચાલ્યો ગચો.

⁵ But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,

⁶થોડા બીજાઓએ નોકરોને પકડ્યા, તેમને માર્યા અને મારી નાંખ્યા.

⁶ and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.

⁷રાજા ખૂબ ગુસ્સે થયો અને રાજાએ તેનું લશ્કર મોકલ્યું. તેઓએ પેલા લોકોને મારી નાખ્યા. અને તેમના શહેરને બાળી નાખ્યું.

⁷ When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

⁸“પછી, રાજાએ તેના નોકરોને કહ્યું, ‘લગ્નો ભોજનસમારંભ તૈયાર છે, મેં જે લોકોને નિમંત્રણ આપ્યું છે તેઓ ભોજનસમારંભમાં આવવા માટે યોગ્ય ન હતા.

⁸ “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.

⁹તેથી હવે તમે શેરીઓના ખૂણેખૂણામાં જાઓ અને જે લોકોને જુઓ તે દરેકને લગ્ના ભોજનસમાંરભમાં આવવાનું કહો.’

⁹ Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’

¹⁰તેથી નોકરો શેરીઓમાં ગયા. તેઓને જે લોકો મળ્યા તે દરેક સારા નરસા માણસોને લગ્નના ભોજન સમારંભમાં બોલાવી લાવ્યા. આખો ભોજનખંડ માણસોથી ભરાઈ ગયો.

¹⁰ Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.

¹¹“પણ જ્યારે રાજા મહેમાનોને જોવા અંદર આવ્યો ત્યારે એક માણસ તેણે જોયો કે જેણે લગ્નને લાયક કપડા પહેર્યા નહોતાં.

¹¹ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,

¹²રાજાએ તેને પૂછયું, ‘હે મિત્ર, લગ્ને લાયક વસ્ત્ર પહેર્યા વગર તું કેવી રીતે અહીંયાં આવ્યો?’ પણ પેલા માણસે કાંઈ ઉત્તર આપ્યો નહિ.

¹² and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.

¹³એટલે રાજાએ તેના નોકરોને કહ્યું, ‘આ માણસના હાથ અને પગ બાંધી દો અને તેને અંધારામાં ફેંકી દો જ્યાં લોકો રડશે અને દાંત પીસશે.’

¹³ Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’

¹⁴“કેમકે આમંત્રિતો ઘણા છે પણ પસંદ કરાયેલા થોડા છે.”

¹⁴ For many are called, but few chosen.”

¹⁵પછી ફરોશીઓ ઈસુ જ્યાં ઉપદેશ આપતો હતો તે જગ્યા છોડી ચાલ્યા ગયા અને એક સભા બોલાવીને ઈસુને પ્રશ્નો દ્વારા ફસાવવાનું નક્કી કર્યુ.

¹⁵Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.

¹⁶તેથી ફરીશીઓએ કેટલાક માણસોને અને હેરોદીઓને ઈસુની પાસે મોકલ્યા. તેમણે ઈસુને પૂછયું, “ઉપદેશક, અમે જાણીએ છીએ કે, તું પ્રમાણિક છે અને કોઈની શેહશરમમાં આવ્યા વિના તું દેવના માર્ગ વિષે સાચું શિક્ષણ આપે છે. તારી પાસે બધાજ લોકો સરખા છે.

¹⁶They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you aren’t partial to anyone.

¹⁷તો તું અમને કહે કે, કૈસરને કર આપવો તે શું ઉચિત છે? હા કે ના?”

¹⁷Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

¹⁸ઈસુ એમનો ખરાબ વિચાર સમજી ગયા અને કહ્યું, “ઢોંગીઓ! તમે મને શા માટે ફસાવવા માંગો છો?

¹⁸But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?

¹⁹તમે જે સિક્કા દ્વારા કર ચૂકવો છો તે લાવીને મને બતાવો.” તેઓએ એક દીનાર લાવીને ઈસુને બતાવ્યો.

¹⁹ Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.

²⁰પછી ઈસુએ તેમને પૂછયું, “આ સિક્કા પર કોનું ચિત્ર છે? અને તેના ઉપર કોનું નામ લખેલું છે?”

²⁰He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”

²¹પછી લોકોએ કહ્યું, “આના ઉપર કૈસરનું નામ છે અને તેનું જ ચિત્ર છે.” એટલે ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યુ, “જે કૈસરનાં છે તે કૈસરને આપી દો અને જે દેવનું છે તે દેવને આપી દો.”

²¹They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

²²ઈસુની વાત સાંભળી બધા અચરત પામ્યા, અને ઈસુને છોડી ત્યાંથી ચાલ્યા ગયા.

²²When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.

²³એ જ દિવસે થોડાક સદૂકીઓ ઈસુ પાસે આવ્યા (લોકો મરણમાંથી ઊભા થશે તે સદૂકીઓ માનતા નહોતા) અને સદૂકીઓએ ઈસુને પૂછયું.

²³On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,

²⁴“ઉપદેશક, મૂસાએ કહ્યું છે કે, જો કોઈ માણસ નિ:સંતાન મરણ પામે તો તેના ભાઈએ તેની પત્ની સાથે પરણવું જોઈએ. જેથી તેઓ બાળકો મેળવી પોતાના ભાઈ માટે વંશ ઉપજાવે.

²⁴saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.’

²⁵એક કુટુંબમાં સાત ભાઈઓ હતા. તેમાંના મોટા ભાઈએ લગ્ન કર્યુ અને નિ:સંતાન મરણ પામ્યો, તેથી પોતાની સ્ત્રીને બીજા ભાઈ પાસે તેડી ગયો.

²⁵Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.

²⁶આ બીજો ભાઈ પણ નિ:સંતાન મરણ પામ્યો. પછી પેલી સ્ત્રી ત્રીજા ભાઈની સાથે પરણી એમ સાતે ભાઈઓના સંબંધમાં આવું બન્યું.

²⁶In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.

²⁷સૌથી છેલ્લે તે સ્ત્રી પણ મરણ પામી.

²⁷After them all, the woman died.

²⁸આ સાતે માણસો તે સ્ત્રીને પરણ્યા, તો પછી હવે મૂએલાઓનાં પુનરુંત્થાનમાં, પેલા સાતમાંથી તે કોની પત્ની થશે?”

²⁸In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”

²⁹ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “ધર્મલેખો અને દેવનાં પરાક્રમ વિષેના તમારા અજ્ઞાનને કારણે એ તમે સમજી શકતા નથી.

²⁹But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

³⁰તેઓ જ્યારે મરણમાંથી પુનરુંત્થાન પામશે, ત્યારે તે બધા આકાશમાંના દૂતો જેવા હશે અને લગ્રની વાત જ નહિ હોય.

³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.

³¹શું પુનરુંત્થાનના સંબંધમાં દેવે તમને જે કહ્યું છે તે તમે વાંચ્યું છે?

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

³²દેવે કહ્યું, ‘હું ઈબ્રાહિમનો તથા ઈસહાકનો તથા યાકૂબનો દેવ છું.’ પણ તે મૂએલાઓનો દેવ નથી. પરંતુ જીવતા લોકોનો દેવ છે.”

³² ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ Exodus 3:6 God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

³³ઈસુનો ઉત્તર સાંભળીને તે લોકો તેના ઉપદેશથી અચરત પામ્યા હતા.

³³When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

³⁴ફરોશીઓએ જાણ્યું કે ઈસુએ પોતાના ઉત્તરથી સદૂકીઓને બોલતા બંધ કરી દીઘા તેથી તેઓ એકત્ર થયા.

³⁴But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

³⁵એક ફરોશી જે શાસ્ત્રી હતો. તેણે ઈસુને ફસાવવા એક પ્રશ્ર્ન પૂછયો.

³⁵One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.

³⁶“ઓ ઉપદેશક, નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં સહુથી મોટી આજ્ઞા કઈ છે?”

³⁶“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

³⁷ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “પ્રભુ તારા દેવ પર, તું તારા પૂરા હૃદયથી, ને તારા પૂરા જીવથી અને તારા પૂરા મનથી પ્રીતી કર.’

³⁷Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Deuteronomy 6:5

³⁸આ પહેલી અને સૌથી મોટી આજ્ઞા છે.

³⁸ This is the first and great commandment.

³⁹બીજી મોટી આજ્ઞા પણ એવી જ છે. ‘તું જેવો પ્રેમ તારા પર કરે છે તેવો જ પ્રેમ તારા પડોશી પર કર.’

³⁹ A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Leviticus 19:18

⁴⁰આખા નિયમશાસ્ત્ર અને પ્રબોધકોના લખાણોનો પાયો આ બે આજ્ઞાઓમાં સમાયેલો છે. આ બે આજ્ઞાઓને પાળશો તો તમે બીજી સર્વ આજ્ઞાઓ પાળશો.”

⁴⁰ The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

⁴¹જ્યારે બધા ફરોશીઓ ભેગા થયા હતા ત્યારે, ઈસુએ તેઓને પ્રશ્ન પૂછયો.

⁴¹Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

⁴²ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “મસીહ વિષે તમે શું માનો છો? તે કોનો દીકરો છે?” તેઓએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “તે દાઉદનો દીકરો છે.”

⁴²saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”

⁴³ઈસુએ તેઓને ફરીથી પ્રશ્ન કર્યો, “તો પછી પવિત્ર આત્માની પ્રેરણાથી દાઉદ તેને ‘પ્રભુ’ કેમ કહે છે.

⁴³He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

⁴⁴‘પ્રભુએ (દેવે) મારા પ્રભુને (ખ્રિસ્ત) કહ્યું કે: જ્યાં સુધી તારા શત્રુંઓ તારા નિયંત્રણ હેઠળ છે; ત્યાં સુધી તું મારી જમણી બાજુ બેસ.’ ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 110:1

⁴⁴ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?’ Psalm 110:1

⁴⁵દાઉદે તેને ખ્રિસ્ત પ્રભુ કહ્યો તો એ તેનો દીકરો કેવી રીતે હોઈ શકે?”

⁴⁵ “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”

⁴⁶ઉત્તરમાં કોઈ કશું જ બોલી શક્યા નહિ. તે સમય પછી તેઓએ બીજા પ્રશ્નો પૂછવાની કોઈએ હિંમત કરી નહિ.

⁴⁶No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.
