1Kkset seg ulawen-nwen cceṛ, tiḥila, tismin ; ur seɛɛut ara sin wudmawen, ur țmeslayet ara ayen n diri ɣef wiyaḍ.
1Laying aside therefore all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envyings and all evil speakings,
2Am llufan illuẓen ayefki n yemma-s, nadit ula d kunwi aț-țeṛwum awal n Sidi Ṛebbi iwakken aț-țimɣuṛem, aț-tețțuselkem,
2as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
3ma yella tjeṛbem acḥal yelha Sidi Ṛebbi !
3if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord [is] good.
4Qeṛṛbet ɣuṛ-es nețța yellan d-azṛu nni yeddren i ḍeggṛen yemdanen, meɛna Sidi Ṛebbi ixtaṛ-it, axaṭer azal-is meqqeṛ.
4To whom coming, a living stone, cast away indeed as worthless by men, but with God chosen, precious,
5Ula d kunwi yellan am izṛa yeddren, dduklet iwakken ad ibedd wexxam i deg ara izdeɣ Ṛṛuḥ n Sidi Ṛebbi. Aț-țilim ț-țajmaɛt n lmuqedmin ara iqeddmen s yisem n Ssid-nneɣ Ɛisa Lmasiḥ, iseflawen iqedsen ara iɛeǧben i Sidi Ṛebbi.
5yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6Axaṭer atan wayen yuran di tira iqedsen : Xtaṛeɣ-ed azṛu+ yesɛan azal d ameqqran+ , sserseɣ-t deg udrar n Siyun,+ d nețța i geṭṭfen lebni,+ win ara yamnen yis ur ineddem ara.+
6Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7Amarezg-nwen kunwi yumnen yis. Ma d wid ur numin ara : Adɣaɣ-nni ḍeggṛen wid ibennun,+ d nețța i guɣalen d azṛu alemmas,+ Win yeṭṭfen lebni. +
7To you therefore who believe [is] the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of [the] corner,
8D wagi i d azṛu + i guɣalen d ugur i yemdanen, + d azṛu i ten-isseɣlayen+ . Imi ugin ad amnen s wawal n Sidi Ṛebbi, ayen i ten-ițṛaǧun d ugur-agi ara ten-iɣeḍlen.
8and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; [who] stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9Kunwi d arraw n laṣel ițwaxtaṛen, d lmuqedmin n ugellid, d lǧens iṣfan, d agdud i d-ițwacefɛen. Tețwaxtaṛem iwakken aț-țbecṛem lecɣal yelhan n Sidi Ṛebbi, i kkun-id issufɣen si ṭṭlam yewwi-kkun-id ɣer tafat-is isteɛǧiben.
9But *ye* [are] a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10Zik-nni ur tewwiḍem ara ula d lǧens, ma ț-țura tuɣalem d agdud n Sidi Ṛebbi ; tellam zik-nni ur tesɛim ara ṛṛeḥma n Sidi Ṛebbi ma ț-țura tețțunefk-awen-d.
10who once [were] not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11A wid eɛzizen ! Kunwi yellan d ibeṛṛaniyen, d imsebriden di ddunit a kkun-nhuɣ aț-țettixṛem i lebɣi n tnefsit i gețnaɣen d ṛṛuḥ-nwen.
11Beloved, I exhort [you], as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12Sɛut tikli ilhan ger wid ur nessin ara Sidi Ṛebbi, iwakken ɣas a d-skidben fell-awen, neɣ xedmen awen cceṛ ; m' ara walin lecɣal-nwen ilhan ad ḥemden Sidi Ṛebbi asm' ara d-yerzu ɣuṛ-sen.
12having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that [as to that] in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through [your] good works, [themselves] witnessing [them], glorify God in [the] day of visitation.
13Ɣef ddemma n Sidi Ṛebbi qadṛet wid iḥekmen. Qadṛet agellid imi d nețța i gḥekmen,
13Be in subjection [therefore] to every human institution for the Lord's sake; whether to [the] king as supreme,
14qadṛet ineɣlafen-is imi d nețța i ten-isbedden iwakken ad ɛaqben imcumen, ad cekkṛen wid i gțeddun s lḥeqq.
14or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15Xedmet ayen yelhan iwakken aț-țerrem takmamt i imejhal ur nefhim ; d wagi i d lebɣi n Sidi Ṛebbi.
15Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16Ilit d ilelliyen, meɛna ur ssexdamet ara tilelli-nwen iwakken aț-țɣummem cceṛ i txeddmem, ilit d iqeddacen n Sidi Ṛebbi.
16as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17Qadṛet imdanen meṛṛa ; ḥemmlet atmaten nwen, ḍuɛet Sidi Ṛebbi, qadṛet agellid.
17Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18Ay iqeddacen ! Ilaq aț-qadṛem imɛellmen nwen, aɣet-asen awal ama i wid ilhan ḥninen, ama i wid iweɛṛen.
18Servants, [be] subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19D ayen ilhan i win iṣebbṛen m' ara iɛeddi fell-as lbaṭel ilmend n ṭṭaɛa n Sidi Ṛebbi.
19For this [is] acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20Ma tețwaɛaqbem imi txedmem kra n diri, ma tṣebṛem i wannect-agi, anwa ara kkun-icekkṛen ? Meɛna ma iɛedda fell-awen lbaṭel, mi txedmem ayen yelhan, tṣebṛem, d ayen yelhan ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi.
20For what glory [is it], if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear [it]? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear [it], this is acceptable with God.
21Ɣer wannect-agi i wen-d-issawel Sidi Ṛebbi, axaṭer Lmasiḥ s yiman-is inneɛtab fell-awen, iǧǧa-yawen-d lemtel iwakken aț țeddum di lateṛ-is.
21For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22Nețța ur nednib, leɛmeṛ ur d-iffiɣ lekdeb seg imi-s.
22who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23Nețța ițwaregmen ur d-yerri rregmat, qehṛen-t ur d-irfid afus-is ɣer yiwen ; lameɛna yerra kullec ger ifassen n win i gḥekmen s lḥeqq.
23who, [when] reviled, reviled not again; [when] suffering, threatened not; but gave [himself] over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24Nețța i gɛebban ddnubat-nneɣ, ițwasemmeṛ ɣef wumidag iwakken a nili am wid yemmuten ɣef wayen yeɛnan ddnub axaṭer ddnub ur isɛi ara tazmert ɣef wid immuten. S wakka, tura ur nețɛici ara di ddnub meɛna di lḥeqq, akken yura : Di leǧruḥ-is i tufam ḥellu. +
24who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25Zik tellam am ulli iɛeṛqen, ma ț-țura, tuɣalem ɣer umeksa ițɛassan ɣef teṛwiḥin-nwen.
25For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
