1Kunemti daɣen a tilawin ḍuɛemt irgazen-nkunt, iwakken ɣas ma llan kra n yergazen ur uminen ara s wawal n Sidi Ṛebbi, s tikli ilhan n tilawin-nsen,
1Likewise, wives, [be] subject to your own husbands, that, even if any are disobedient to the word, they may be gained without [the] word by the conversation of the wives,
2ad amnen mbla imeslayen m' ara walin tikli-nsent teṣfa, tesɛa leqdeṛ.
2having witnessed your pure conversation [carried out] in fear;
3Ur țzewwiqemt ara iman-nkunt s ufella kan, ama s ddheb, neɣ s llebsa ifazen, neɣ s wemcaḍ n ucekkuɛ nkunt,
3whose adorning let it not be that outward one of tressing of hair, and wearing gold, or putting on apparel;
4meɛna ccbaḥa-nkunt ilaq aț-țili deg wulawen-nkunt ; axaṭer ayen yesɛan azal ameqqran ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi : ț-țezdeg n wul, lehna d leḥnana, imi ayagi d ayen ițdumun.
4but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible [ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.
5Akka i țcebbiḥent iman-nsent tilawin iḍuɛen Sidi Ṛebbi, yețqadaṛen irgazen-nsent ;
5For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;
6am Saṛa iḍuɛen argaz-is Ibṛahim, tessawal-as « A Sidi. » Aț-țuɣalemt d yessi-s ma txeddmemt ayen yelhan mbla tugdi.
6as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children ye have become, doing good, and not fearing with any kind of consternation.
7Ma d kunwi ay irgazen, ḥadret tilawin-nwen imi teẓram ur ǧhident ara am kunwi. Ilaq a tent-tqadṛem axaṭer nutenti daɣen ad weṛtent yid-wen ṛṛeḥma n Sidi Ṛebbi ; s wakka ur d-ițili ara ẓẓeṛb i tẓallit-nwen.
7[Ye] husbands likewise, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, as with a weaker, [even] the female, vessel, giving [them] honour, as also fellow-heirs of [the] grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
8Ihi sɛut akk yiwet n lɛeqliya, myeḥmalet wway gar-awen. Sɛut tagmaț, iḥninet, ddut s wannuz.
8Finally, [be] all of one mind, sympathising, full of brotherly love, tender hearted, humble minded;
9Ur țțarat ara țțaṛ, ur țarrat ara rregmat i wid i kkun-iregmen ; meɛna ddɛut s lxiṛ i wiyaḍ axaṭer d annect-agi i gețṛaǧu deg-wen Sidi Ṛebbi, iwakken aț-țweṛtem lbaṛaka-ines.
9not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing [others], because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.
10 Win iḥemmlen tudert, + ibɣan ad yili d aseɛdi deg ussan-is :+ + + Ad iḥader iles-is ɣef wayen n diri+ d yimi-s seg yimeslayen ițɣuṛṛun+ .
10For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
11Ad issebɛed iman-is ɣef cceṛ, + ad ixeddem ayen yelhan,+ ad ițnadi amek ara yili dayem di talwit,+ +
11And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
12axaṭer Sidi Ṛebbi ṛeṣṣant wallen-is ɣef yiḥeqqiyen, + + isell-ed i tiɣṛi-nsen ; + meɛna ițeffer udem-is + ɣef wid ixeddmen cceṛ.
12because [the] eyes of [the] Lord [are] on [the] righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but [the] face of [the] Lord [is] against them that do evil.
13Anwa ara wen-ibɣun cceṛ ma yella tḥemmlem aț-țxedmem anagar ayen yelhan ?
13And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which [is] good?
14Yerna ma yella tețwaḍelmem ɣef lḥeqq, feṛḥet ! Ur țțagadet ara imdanen, ur tḥeyyiṛet ara.
14But if also ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed [are ye]; but be not afraid of their fear, neither be troubled;
15Ɛuzzet deg ulawen-nwen Lmasiḥ yellan d Ssid-nwen. Ilit dayem twejdem aț-țǧawbem s leɛqel d leqdeṛ i kra n wid i kkun-id-isteqsan ɣef wusirem nwen di Sidi Ṛebbi, iwakken ad ithedden wul-nwen ;
15but sanctify [the] Lord the Christ in your hearts, and [be] always prepared to [give] an answer [to] every one that asks you to give an account of the hope that [is] in you, but with meekness and fear;
16imiren wid i d-iskiddiben ɣef tikli-nwen ilhan deg ubrid n Lmasiḥ, ad nneḥcamen.
16having a good conscience, that [as to that] in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may be ashamed who calumniate your good conversation in Christ.
17Axiṛ aț-țenṭaṛṛem ma txedmem ayen yelhan di lebɣi n Sidi Ṛebbi, wala aț-țenṭaṛṛem ma txedmem ayen n diri.
17For [it is] better, if the will of God should will it, to suffer [as] well-doers than [as] evildoers;
18Lmasiḥ s yiman-is immut ; s lmut-agi-ines i gefra tamsalt n ddnub n yemdanen. Nețța yellan d aḥeqqi, immut ɣef ddemma n imednuben meṛṛa iwakken a kkun-yawi ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi. Nɣan lgețța-s meɛna yuɣal-ed ɣer tudert s tezmert n Ṛṛuḥ iqedsen.
18for Christ indeed has once suffered for sins, [the] just for [the] unjust, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in flesh, but made alive in [the] Spirit,
19S tezmert n Ṛṛuḥ iqedsen i gṛuḥ ad ibecceṛ i leṛwaḥ ițwaḥebsen,
19in which also going he preached to the spirits [which are] in prison,
20yugin ad amnen, asm' akken i ten-ițṛaǧu Sidi Ṛebbi s ṣṣbeṛ akken a d-uɣalen ɣer webrid-is ; asmi i gexdem Sidna Nuḥ lbabuṛ i ɣer kecmen anagar tmanya yemdanen i gmenɛen si lḥemla n waman.
20heretofore disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in [the] days of Noah while the ark was preparing, into which few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water:
21Aman-agi, d lemtel n weɣḍas i kkun-ițselliken ass-a ula d kunwi. Aɣḍas-agi n waman mačči d ayen i gessizdigen lǧețța n wemdan, lameɛna ițbeggin-ed belli nefka tudert-nneɣ i Sidi Ṛebbi s wul yeṣfan. Ayagi yezmer a d-yedṛu i lmend n ḥeggu n Sidna Ɛisa Lmasiḥ
21which figure also now saves you, [even] baptism, not a putting away of [the] filth of flesh, but [the] demand as before God of a good conscience, by [the] resurrection of Jesus Christ,
22i gulin ɣer igenni, yeṭṭef amkan n lḥekma ɣer tama tayeffust n Sidi Ṛebbi, sennig n lmalayekkat, sennig n tezmar d lḥekmat meṛṛa.
22who is at [the] right hand of God, gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being subjected to him.
