5

1Slet-ed tura ula d kunwi ay imeṛkantiyen : meǧdet ɣef ddemma n txeṣṣarin ara d-yeɣlin fell-awen !
1Go to now, ye rich, weep, howling over your miseries that [are] coming upon [you].
2Cci-nwen yerka, llebsa-nwen tečča-ț tumeṭ !
2Your wealth is become rotten, and your garments moth-eaten.
3Ddheb d lfeṭṭa-nwen ṣeddeḍen ; d ṣḍiḍ-nsen ara icehden fell-awen, ara kkun-iččen am tmes. Tjemmɛem cci deg ussan-agi ineggura n ddunit !
3Your gold and silver is eaten away, and their canker shall be for a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have heaped up treasure in [the] last days.
4Teččam lḥeqq n wid imegren igran-nwen, slet-asen i wigi ițcetkin ɣef lbaṭel-nwen, Sidi Ṛebbi Bab n tezmert yesla-d i leɛyaḍ-nsen.
4Behold, the wages of your labourers, who have harvested your fields, wrongfully kept back by you, cry, and the cries of those that have reaped are entered into the ears of [the] Lord of sabaoth.
5Ddunit-nwen tesɛeddam-ț di lxiṛ, txedmem ayen akk mennan wulawen nwen ; tṛebbam tassemt i wass aneggaru.
5Ye have lived luxuriously on the earth and indulged yourselves; ye have nourished your hearts [as] in a day of slaughter;
6Tḥekmem, tenɣam iḥeqqiyen yerna ur kkun-xuṣmen ara.
6ye have condemned, ye have killed the just; he does not resist you.
7Ay atmaten, ṣebṛet ihi alamma d asm' ara d-yuɣal Ssid-nneɣ. Walit amek i gețṛaǧu ufellaḥ lɣella n wakal-is, iṣebbeṛ alamma yewwet-ed ugeffur n lexṛif ț-țefsut.
7Have patience, therefore, brethren, till the coming of the Lord. Behold, the labourer awaits the precious fruit of the earth, having patience for it until it receive [the] early and [the] latter rain.
8Ula d kunwi ṣebṛet, sǧehdet iman nwen, axaṭer tuɣalin n Ssid-nneɣ teqṛeb-ed.
8*Ye* also have patience: stablish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is drawn nigh.
9Ur țemcetkayet ara wway gar-awen iwakken ur kkun-ițḥasab ara Sidi Ṛebbi ; axaṭer Bab n lḥisab, ibedd-ed ɣer tewwurt !
9Complain not one against another, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the judge stands before the door.
10Ay atmaten-iw, mmektit-ed lenbiya i d-iceggeɛ Sidi Ṛebbi tecbum-d ṣṣbeṛ akk-d liman i sɛan di teswiɛin n leɛtab.
10Take [as] an example, brethren, of suffering and having patience, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of [the] Lord.
11Ihi amarezg n wid yeṭṭfen ur fcilen ara. Teslam ayen i d-qqaṛen ɣef ṣṣbeṛ n Sidna Yub, yerna twalam daɣen d acu i geqsed Sidi Ṛebbi a s-t-id-yefk, axaṭer Sidi Ṛebbi yeččuṛ d leḥnana akk-d ṛṛeḥma.
11Behold, we call them blessed who have endured. Ye have heard of the endurance of Job, and seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is full of tender compassion and pitiful.
12Ay atmaten-iw, ur țgallat s igenni, ur țgallat s lqaɛa neɣ s wayen nniḍen, meɛna init kan ih neɣ ala, iwakken ur kkun-ițḥasab ara Sidi Ṛebbi.
12But before all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay, that ye do not fall under judgment.
13Ma yella yenneɛtab yiwen deg-wen, ad yedɛu ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi. Ma yella win yellan di lfeṛḥ, ad yeḥmed Sidi Ṛebbi s ccnawi.
13Does any one among you suffer evil? let him pray. Is any happy? let him sing psalms.
14Ma yella yiwen deg-wen yehlek, ad issiwel i imeqqranen n tejmaɛt, ad dɛun ɣer Ṛebbi fell-as, ad dehnen aqeṛṛuy-is s zzit s yisem n Sidi Ṛebbi ;
14Is any sick among you? let him call to [him] the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of [the] Lord;
15ma yella dɛan ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi s liman, țeklen fell-as, amuḍin-nni ad yețțusellek ; Sidi Ṛebbi a t-yesseḥlu yerna a s-isemmeḥ ddnubat-is.
15and the prayer of faith shall heal the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he be one who has committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
16?emqiṛit ddnubat-nwen wway gar-awen, wa ad yedɛu i wa s lxiṛ ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi iwakken aț-țeḥlum. Ddeɛwat n win yellan d aḥeqqi zdat Sidi Ṛebbi, sɛant tazmert tameqqrant.
16Confess therefore your offences to one another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. [The] fervent supplication of the righteous [man] has much power.
17Nnbi Ilyas yella d argaz am nukni : meɛna mi gessuter ɣer Sidi Ṛebbi s wul-is iwakken ur d-tɣelli ara lehwa, ur d-teɣli ara tlata iseggasen d sețța waguren
17Elias was a man of like passions to us, and he prayed with prayer that it should not rain; and it did not rain upon the earth three years and six months;
18Yessuter daɣen a d-teɣli lehwa dɣa teɣli-d, lqaɛa tefka-d leṛẓaq-is.
18and again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth caused its fruit to spring forth.
19Ay atmaten-iw, ma yella yiwen deg-wen iɛṛeq-as webrid n Sidi Ṛebbi, yerra-t-id wayeḍ ɣer webrid,
19My brethren, if any one among you err from the truth, and one bring him back,
20ilaq aț-țeẓrem belli win ara d-yerren yiwen umednub ɣer webrid, isellek-it-id si lmut yerna aṭas si ddnubat-is ara yețțusemḥen.
20let him know that he that brings back a sinner from [the] error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.
