Darby's Translation

Romans

9

1A wen-d-iniɣ tideț, nekk iteddun deg ubrid n Lmasiḥ, ur skiddibeɣ ara ; lxaṭer-iw icehhed-d ɣef wayagi s Ṛṛuḥ iqedsen i yi-sedduyen :
1I say [the] truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in [the] Holy Spirit,
2leḥzen d uɣilif zgan deg ul-iw.
2that I have great grief and uninterrupted pain in my heart,
3Zemreɣ ad qebleɣ ad țțuneɛleɣ neɣ ad țțuḥeṛṛmeɣ ɣef Lmasiḥ ɣef ddemma n watmaten-iw akk-d lumma-inu ;
3for I have wished, I myself, to be a curse from the Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen, according to flesh;
4nutni at Isṛail i gextaṛ Sidi Ṛebbi d agdud-is yefka-yasen-d lɛaḍima, yexdem yid-sen leɛqud, yefka-yasen-d ccariɛa d wamek ara t-ɛebden, yerna-yasen-d lemɛahdat.
4who are Israelites; whose [is] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the law-giving, and the service, and the promises;
5Seg-sen i d-ffɣen lejdud-nneɣ i gellan d iqeddacen imezwura n Sidi Ṛebbi, ula d Lmasiḥ seg-sen i d-iffeɣ mi d-ilul s ṣṣifa n wemdan, nețța i gellan sennig kra yellan, d Illu yețwaḥemden i dayem. Amin !
5whose [are] the fathers; and of whom, as according to flesh, [is] the Christ, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
6Acu ara d-nini ? Sidi Ṛebbi yendem deg wawal-is ? Xaṭi ! Meɛna mačči d wid meṛṛa i d-ilulen seg jeddi-tneɣ Isṛail i gellan n wat Isṛail i gextaṛ Sidi Ṛebbi.
6Not however as though the word of God had failed; for not all [are] Israel which [are] of Israel;
7Daɣen mačči d wid meṛṛa i d-yeǧǧa Sidna Ibṛahim i gellan d arraw-is n tideț, axaṭer Sidi Ṛebbi inna-yas-d : Seg Isḥaq ara d-teffeɣ dderya i k-weɛdeɣ.
7nor because they are seed of Abraham [are] all children: but, In Isaac shall a seed be called to thee.
8S wakka ihi nezmer ad ini mačči d dderya i d ilulen s lebɣi n wemdan ara ițțusemmin d arraw n Sidi Ṛebbi meɛna anagar wid i d-ilulen s lebɣi n Sidi Ṛebbi akken i t-id-yewɛed.
8That is, [they that are] the children of the flesh, these [are] not the children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned as seed.
9Axaṭer atnan imeslayen s wayes i gɛuhed Sidi Ṛebbi : A d-uɣaleɣ aseggas i d-iteddun di lweqt-agi, ?ara a d-tesɛu aqcic.
9For this word [is] of promise, According to this time I will come, and there shall be a son to Sarah.
10Mačči d ayagi kan : arraw n Rbiḥa daɣen i gellan d akniwen, sɛan yiwen n baba-tsen yellan d jeddi-tneɣ Isḥaq.
10And not only [that], but Rebecca having conceived by one, Isaac our father,
11Meɛna imi Sidi Ṛebbi ițextiri imdanen mačči ɣef ddemma n lecɣal-nsen meɛna akken yella lebɣi-s d usiwel-ines ; mazal urɛad i d-lulen warraw n Rbiḥa, ur xdimen cceṛ, ur xdimen lxiṛ, mi s-d-yenna Sidi Ṛebbi : Amenzu deg warraw-im ad yuɣal d aqeddac ɣef wumecṭuḥ.
11[the children] indeed being not yet born, or having done anything good or worthless (that the purpose of God according to election might abide, not of works, but of him that calls),
13Akken i gura daɣen deg umkan nniḍen n tira iqedsen : ?emmleɣ Yeɛqub, keṛheɣ Icaw.
12it was said to her, The greater shall serve the less:
14D acu ara d-nini deg wannect-a ? Eɛni Sidi Ṛebbi ixeddem lbaṭel ? D lmuḥal !
13according as it is written, I have loved Jacob, and I have hated Esau.
15Axaṭer yenna-yas i Sidna Musa : A d-sserseɣ ṛṛeḥma-inu ɣef win i bɣiɣ, ad ḥunneɣ daɣen ɣef win i bɣiɣ.
14What shall we say then? [Is there] unrighteousness with God? Far be the thought.
16Lbaṛaka n Sidi Ṛebbi ur d-tețțas ara s lefɛayel n wemdan ama yuzzel ama yeqqim meɛna kullec yețțas-ed s ɣuṛ Sidi Ṛebbi i d-yețțaken ṛṛeḥma ines akken yebɣa.
15For he says to Moses, I will shew mercy to whom I will shew mercy, and I will feel compassion for whom I will feel compassion.
17Anda nniḍen di tira iqedsen Sidi Ṛebbi yenna i Ferɛun agellid n Maṣer : Sbeddeɣ-k d agellid ameqqran iwakken a d-sbeggneɣ tazmert-iw deg-ek, s wakka di ddunit meṛṛa ad issinen belli d nekk i d Illu.
16So then [it is] not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shews mercy.
18Akka ihi, Sidi Ṛebbi yesrusu-d ṛṛeḥma-s ɣef win yebɣa, isɣaṛay daɣen ul n win yebɣa.
17For the scripture says to Pharaoh, For this very thing I have raised thee up from amongst [men], that I might thus shew in thee my power, and so that my name should be declared in all the earth.
19Ahat ad yili win ara d-yinin : imi akka i gella lḥal, acu i mazal ițlumu deg-nneɣ ? Anwa i gzemren a t-iɛaṣi ?
18So then, to whom he will he shews mercy, and whom he will he hardens.
20I kečč ay amdan ur nesɛi azal, d acu i tḥesbeḍ iman-ik iwakken aț-țḥasbeḍ Sidi Ṛebbi ? Eɛni tacmuxt ițwameslen s wakal tezmer aț-țini i win i ț-imeslen acuɣer i yi-tmesleḍ s ṣṣifa-yagi ?
19Thou wilt say to me then, Why does he yet find fault? for who resists his purpose?
21Win imesslen afexxaṛ yezmer ad ixdem ayen i s-ihwan s wakal ; seg wakal-nni yezmer ad imsel tacmuxt izewqen neɣ tin i sseqdacen kull ass.
20Aye, but thou, O man, who art *thou* that answerest again to God? Shall the thing formed say to him that has formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
22Eɛni Sidi Ṛebbi ur yezmir ara a d-ibeggen urrif-is akk-d tezmert-is ? Iɣaḍ-ik lḥal ma yella yeṣber s ṣṣber ameqqran i wid yuklalen urrif-is yerna teddun ɣer nnger ?
21Or has not the potter authority over the clay, out of the same lump to make one vessel to honour, and another to dishonour?
23Deg wannect-agi, Sidi Ṛebbi yebɣa a d-isbeggen acḥal meqqṛet tmanegt-is i nukni i ɣef iḥunn, i ghegga si zik iwakken a nili yid-es di tmanegt-is ;
22And if God, minded to shew his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much long-suffering vessels of wrath fitted for destruction;
24nukni iwumi i d-yessawel Sidi Ṛebbi mačči seg wat Isṛail kan, meɛna ula si ger leǧnas nniḍen ;
23and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared for glory,
25akken i t-id-yenna Sidi Ṛebbi di tektabt n nnbi Hucaɛ : Lǧens-nni ur nelli ara d agdud-iw a s-semmiɣ agdud-iw, win akken ur nețwaḥemmel ara a s-semmiɣ win eɛzizen fell-i.
24us, whom he has also called, not only from amongst [the] Jews, but also from amongst [the] nations?
26Anda akken i sen-qqaṛen : « Ur tellim ara d agdud n Sidi Ṛebbi», dinna ara țțusemmin d arraw n Sidi Ṛebbi yeddren.
25As he says also in Hosea, I will call not-my-people My people; and the-not-beloved Beloved.
27Si lǧiha-s, nnbi Iceɛya icar-ed ɣef wayen yeɛnan agdud n wat Isṛail : ?as ad ketṛen wat Isṛail am ṛṛmel ɣef yiri n lebḥeṛ, kra deg-sen kan ara yețțuselken.
26And it shall be, in the place where it was said to them, *Ye* [are] not my people, there shall they be called Sons of [the] living God.
28 Axaṭer Sidi Ṛebbi ur ițɛeṭṭil ara ad ixdem di ddunit ayen akken i d-yenna deg wawal-is.
27But Esaias cries concerning Israel, Should the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant shall be saved:
29 Yura di tira iqedsen : Lemmer Sidi Ṛebbi Bab n tezmert ur aɣ-d yeǧǧi ara kra seg wegdud-nneɣ, tili nuɣal am temdint n Sudum, aț-țeḍru yid-nneɣ am temdint n Gumuṛ inegren. Ayagi yenna-t-id nnbi Iceɛya uqbel a d-yedṛu.
28for [he] is bringing the matter to an end, and [cutting [it] short in righteousness; because] a cutting short of the matter will [the] Lord accomplish upon the earth.
30D acu ara d-nini ihi ? Igduden nniḍen ur nețnadi ara ɣef lḥeqq uɣalen d iḥeqqiyen zdat Sidi Ṛebbi, uɣalen d iḥeqqiyen imi umnen yis.
29And according as Esaias said before, Unless [the] Lord of hosts had left us a seed, we had been as Sodom, and made like even as Gomorrha.
31Ma d at Isṛail yețnadin ad uɣalen d iḥeqqiyen s ccariɛa, ur wwiḍen ara ɣer lmeqṣud-nsen s ccariɛa.
30What then shall we say? That [they of the] nations, who did not follow after righteousness, have attained righteousness, but [the] righteousness that is on the principle of faith.
32Acuɣer ? Axaṭer ur qellben ara ad ɛeǧben i Sidi Ṛebbi s liman, meɛna nutni ɣilen ad uɣalen d iḥeqqiyen s lefɛayel-nsen. Mmugren-d adɣaɣ i sen-yellan d ugur, isseɣli-ten.
31But Israel, pursuing after a law of righteousness, has not attained to [that] law.
32Wherefore? Because [it was] not on the principle of faith, but as of works. They have stumbled at the stumblingstone,
33according as it is written, Behold, I place in Zion a stone of stumbling and rock of offence: and he that believes on him shall not be ashamed.
