2

1Ma d kečč sselmed ayen yellan ț-țideț n Sidi Ṛebbi.
1But do *thou* speak the things that become sound teaching;
2that the elder men be sober, grave, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience;
3that the elder women in like manner be in deportment as becoming those who have to say to sacred things, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is right;
4ad țweṣṣint tilawin ad ḥemmlent irgazen-nsent d warraw nsent,
4that they may admonish the young women to be attached to [their] husbands, to be attached to [their] children,
5discreet, chaste, diligent in home work, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.
6Nhu daɣen ilmeẓyen ad sɛun leɛqel ;
6The younger men in like manner exhort to be discreet:
7kečč s yiman-ik ilaq aț-țiliḍ d lemtel s lecɣal-ik yelhan, sselmad seg wul akk-d țideț,
7in all things affording thyself as a pattern of good works; in teaching uncorruptedness, gravity,
8s imeslayen iṣeḥḥan i deg ur yezmir yiwen a d iwwet, iwakken ixṣimen-ik ur țțafen ara ayen n diri ara hedṛen fell-aneɣ yerna ad nneḥcamen.
8a sound word, not to be condemned; that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us:
9Iqeddacen daɣen ilaq-asen ad țțaɣen awal yerna ad ɛeǧben bab-nsen, ur sen-țeddun ara di nneqma,
9bondmen to be subject to their own masters, to make themselves acceptable in everything; not gainsaying;
10ilaq ur ten-țțakren ara meɛna ad ilin d wid imeɛnen i deg yella laman, iwakken aselmed n Sidi Ṛebbi amsellek-nneɣ ad yesɛu ccan.
10not robbing [their masters], but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the teaching which [is] of our Saviour God in all things.
11Sidi Ṛebbi isbeggen-ed ṛṛeḥma-s i d-yewwin leslak i yemdanen meṛṛa.
11For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared,
12Ṛṛeḥma n Sidi Ṛebbi tesselmad-aɣ a neṭṭixeṛ ɣef lecɣal-nneɣ ur nelhi d wayen akk n diri yellan di ddunit, a nɛic di ddunit-a s ṣṣwab, s lḥeqq d ṭṭaɛa n Sidi Ṛebbi ;
12teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,
13akka ihi ara neṛǧu lfeṛḥ n wass i nessaram i deg ara d-tban tmanegt n Yillu-nneɣ ameqqran, amsellek nneɣ Ɛisa Lmasiḥ.
13awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;
14Yefka iman-is fell-aneɣ iwakken a ɣ-isellek si ddnub yerna a ɣ-yerr d agdud-is yeṣfan, iwejden i lecɣal yelhan.
14who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.
15Akka i glaq aț-țețmeslayeḍ, aț-țnehhuḍ, aț-țețweṣṣiḍ s lewɛaṛa, ur țțaǧa yiwen a k-yeḥqeṛ.
15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.
