¹Koa raha manana ireo teny fikasana ireo isika, ry malala, dia aoka isika hanadio ny tenantsika ho afaka amin'ny fahalotoana rehetra, na amin'ny nofo, na amin'ny fanahy, ka hahatanteraka ny fahamasinana amin'ny fahatahorana an'Andriamanitra.

¹Having, then, these promises, beloved, may we cleanse ourselves from every pollution of flesh and spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God;

²Ataovy omby anay ny fonareo, tsy nanao izay tsy marina tamin'ny olona izahay, tsy nanimba olona, tsy nanambaka olona.

²receive us; no one did we wrong; no one did we waste; no one did we defraud;

³Tsy miteny izany ho fanamelohana aho; fa efa nilaza rahateo aho fa ao am-ponay ianareo, mba hiara-maty sy hiara-belona isika.

³not to condemn you do I say [it], for I have said before that in our hearts ye are to die with and to live with;

⁴Be ny fahatokiako anareo, lehibe ny reharehako ny aminareo; feno fiononana aho sady be hafaliana indrindra amin'ny fahorianay rehetra.

⁴great [is] my freedom of speech unto you, great my glory on your behalf; I have been filled with the comfort, I overabound with the joy on all our tribulation,

⁵Fa na dia efa tonga tany Makedonia aza izahay, dia tsy hiainan'ny nofonay, fa nampahorina tamin'ny zavatra rehetra: teo ivelany nisy ady, tao anatiny nisy tahotra.

⁵for also we, having come to Macedonia, no relaxation hath our flesh had, but on every side we are in tribulation, without [are] fightings, within — fears;

⁶Fa Andriamanitra, Izay mampionona ny mpandefitra, no efa nampionona anay tamin'ny nahatongavan'i Titosy,

⁶but He who is comforting the cast-down — God — He did comfort us in the presence of Titus;

⁷and not only in his presence, but also in the comfort with which he was comforted over you, declaring to us your longing desire, your lamentation, your zeal for me, so that the more I did rejoice,

⁸Fa na dia nampalahelo anareo tamin'ny epistily aza aho, dia tsy manenina intsony, na dia nanenina ihany aza teo; fa fantatro fa efa nampalahelo anareo izany epistily izany, kanefa vetivety ihany.

⁸because even if I made you sorry in the letter, I do not repent — if even I did repent — for I perceive that the letter, even if for an hour, did make you sorry.

⁹Ary mifaly kosa aho ankehitriny, nefa tsy noho ny nampalahelovana anareo, fa noho ny nampalahelovana anareo mba hibebaka; fa nampahelovina araka an'Andriamanitra ianareo, mba tsy hataonay matiantoka na amin'inona na amin'inona.

⁹I now do rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye were made sorry to reformation, for ye were made sorry toward God, that in nothing ye might receive damage from us;

¹⁰Fa ny alahelo araka an'Andriamanitra miasa fibebahana ho famonjena tsy hanenenana; fa miasa fahafatesana kosa ny alahelon'izao tontolo izao.

¹⁰for the sorrow toward God reformation to salvation not to be repented of doth work, and the sorrow of the world doth work death,

¹¹Fa, indro, izany nampalahelovana araka an'Andriamanitra izany indrindra dia nahatonga fahazotoana manao ahoana teo aminareo! eny, fialan-tsiny manao ahoana! fahatezerana manao ahoana! fahatahorana manao ahoana! faniriana manao ahoana! zotom-po manao ahoana! famaliana ny ratsy natao manao ahoana! Tamin'izany rehetra izany dia nampiseho ny fahadiovanareo ny amin'izany raharaha izany ianareo.

¹¹for, lo, this same thing — your being made sorry toward God — how much diligence it doth work in you! but defence, but displeasure, but fear, but longing desire, but zeal, but revenge; in every thing ye did approve yourselves to be pure in the matter.

¹²Koa na dia nanoratra taminareo aza aho, dia tsy noho ny nanao izay tsy marina, na noho ny niaritra izay tsy marina, fa mba haseho aminareo eo anatrehan'Andriamanitra ny fahazotoanareo hanaiky anay.

¹²If, then, I also wrote to you — not for his cause who did wrong, nor for his cause who did suffer wrong, but for our diligence in your behalf being manifested unto you before God —

¹³Ary noho izany dia nampiononina izahay, ary tamin'ny nampiononana anay dia vao mainka nifaly izahay noho ny fifalian'i Titosy, fa ianareo rehetra efa namelombelona ny fanahiny.

¹³because of this we have been comforted in your comfort, and more abundantly the more did we rejoice in the joy of Titus, that his spirit hath been refreshed from you all;

¹⁴Ary raha nisy nataoko rehareha taminy ny aminareo, dia tsy mahamenatra ahy izany; fa tahaka ny nilazanay marina taminareo ny zavatra rehetra, dia tonga marina koa ny reharehanay tamin'i Titosy ny aminareo.

¹⁴because if anything to him in your behalf I have boasted, I was not put to shame; but as all things in truth we did speak to you, so also our boasting before Titus became truth,

¹⁵Ary vao mainka miraikitra aminareo aza ny fony, raha mahatsiaro ny fanarahanareo rehetra izy, dia ny haben'ny fahatahorana sy ny fangovitana nandraisanareo azy.Ary faly aho fa matoky anareo amin'ny zavatra rehetra.

¹⁵and his tender affection is more abundantly toward you, remembering the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye did receive him;

¹⁶I rejoice, therefore, that in everything I have courage in you.
