¹The Elder to Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth!

²Ry malala, mangataka aho mba hambinina sy ho salama amin'ny zavatra rehetra anie ianao, tahaka izay anambinana ny fanahinao ihany.

²beloved, concerning all things I desire thee to prosper, and to be in health, even as thy soul doth prosper,

³Fa faly indrindra aho, fony nisy rahalahy tonga ka nanambara ny fahamarinanao, dia toy ny andehananao araka ny fahamarinana.

³for I rejoiced exceedingly, brethren coming and testifying of the truth in thee, even as thou in truth dost walk;

⁴Tsy manana fifaliana mihoatra noho izao aho, dia ny andrenesako fa mandeha araka ny fahamarinana ny zanako.

⁴greater than these things I have no joy, that I may hear of my children in truth walking.

⁵Ry malala, manao asa mahatoky ianao na amin'inona na amin'inona ataonao amin'ireo rahalahy ireo, na dia vahiny aza izy,

⁵Beloved, faithfully dost thou do whatever thou mayest work to the brethren and to the strangers,

⁶izay nanambara ny fitiavanao teo anatrehan'ny fiangonana; dia ho soa no ataonao, raha mamoaka azy koa araka izay miendrika hatao noho ny amin'Andriamanitra ianao; [ Gr. eklesia]

⁶who did testify of thy love before an assembly, whom thou wilt do well, having sent forward worthily of God,

⁷fa noho ny Anarana no niangany, ka tsy naka na inona na inona tamin'ny jentilisa izy.

⁷because for [His] name they went forth, nothing receiving from the nations;

⁸Koa isika dia tokony handray tsara izay toy izany, mba ho mpiara-miasa aminy amin'ny fahamarinana.

⁸we, then, ought to receive such, that fellow-workers we may become to the truth.

⁹Nanoratra tamin'ny fiangonana Ihany aho; nefa Diotrefa, izay te-ho lohany, dia tsy mba mandray anay. [ Gr. eklesia]

⁹I did write to the assembly, but he who is loving the first place among them — Diotrephes — doth not receive us;

¹⁰Koa amin'izany, raha tonga aho, dia hotsarovako izay asa ataony, fa mibedibedy foana manaratsy anay izy; ary tsy afa-po amin'izany ihany, fa ny tenany dia tsy mandray ireo rahalahy ireo, ary izay ta-handray azy dia raràny sy roahiny hiala amin'ny fiangonana. [ Gr. eklesia]

¹⁰because of this, if I may come, I will cause him to remember his works that he doth, with evil words prating against us; and not content with these, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and those intending he doth forbid, and out of the assembly he doth cast.

¹¹Ry malala, aza ny ratsy no alain-tahaka, fa ny tsara. Izay manao ny tsara no avy amin'Andriamanitra; fa izay manao ny ratsy tsy mba nahita an'Andriamanitra.

¹¹Beloved, be not thou following that which is evil, but that which is good; he who is doing good, of God he is, and he who is doing evil hath not seen God;

¹²Demetrio dia tsara laza amin'ny olona rehetra sy amin'ny fahamarinana koa; ary izahay koa manambara izany, ary fantatrao fa marina ny fanambaranay.

¹²to Demetrius testimony hath been given by all, and by the truth itself, and we also — we do testify, and ye have known that our testimony is true.

¹³Nanana zavatra maro hosoratana aho, nefa tsy tiako hosoratana aminao amin'ny ranomainty sy ny penina; [ Gr. volotara]

¹³Many things I had to write, but I do not wish through ink and pen to write to thee,

¹⁴fa manantena hahita anao faingana ihany aho, dia hiteny mifanatrika isika.Ho aminao anie ny fiadanana. Ny sakaiza atỳ manao veloma anao. Veloma amin'ny sakaiza tsirairay araka ny anarany avy.

¹⁴and I hope straightway to see thee, and mouth to mouth we shall speak. Peace to thee! salute thee do the friends; be saluting the friends by name.

¹⁵Ho aminao anie ny fiadanana. Ny sakaiza atỳ manao veloma anao. Veloma amin'ny sakaiza tsirairay araka ny anarany avy.
