¹[Ny fahitana ny amin'ny valala, sy ny afo, ary ny Pilao] Izao no nasehon'i Jehovah Tompo tamiko: Indro, nanao ny valala tamin'ny voalohan'ny nitsimohan'ny kolokolon'ahitra Izy; ary, indro, kolokolon'izay nojinjana ho an'ny mpanjaka izany.

¹Thus hath the Lord Jehovah shewed me, and lo, He is forming locusts at the beginning of the ascending of the latter growth, and lo, the latter growth [is] after the mowings of the king;

²Ary nony efa laniny avokoa ny zava-maniry amin'ny tany, dia hoy izaho: Jehovah Tompo, mifona aminao aho mamelà heloka! Hataon'i Jakoba ahoana no fahajanona? Fa kely izy.

²and it hath come to pass, when it hath finished to consume the herb of the land, that I say: `Lord Jehovah, forgive, I pray Thee, How doth Jacob arise — for he [is] small?`

³Nanenenan'i Jehovah izany; Tsy hisy izany, hoy Jehovah.

³Jehovah hath repented of this, `It shall not be,` said Jehovah.

⁴Izao no nasehon'i Jehovah Tompo tamiko: Indro, Jehovah Tompo miantso hifandahatra hamely amin'ny afo, ka nandevona ny lalina lehibe sy nila handany ny zara-lova izany.

⁴Thus hath the Lord Jehovah shewed me, and lo, the Lord Jehovah is calling to contend by fire, and it consumeth the great deep, yea, it hath consumed the portion, and I say:

⁵Dia hoy izaho: Jehovah Tompo, Mifona aminao aho, mitsahara! Hataon'i Jakoba ahoana no fahajanona? Fa kely izy.

⁵`Lord Jehovah, cease, I pray Thee, How doth Jacob arise — for he [is] small?`

⁶Nanenenan'i Jehovah izany; Tsy hisy izany, hoy Jehovah Tompo.

⁶Jehovah hath repented of this, `It also shall not be,` said the Lord Jehovah.

⁷Izao no nasehony ahy: Indro, ny Tompo nitsangana teo ambonin'ny manda natao amin'ny pilao, sady nisy pilao teny an-tànany.

⁷Thus hath He shewed me, and lo, the Lord is standing by a wall [made according to] a plumb-line, and in His hand a plumb-line;

⁸Dia hoy Jehovah tamiko: Inona no hitanao, ry Amosa? Ary hoy izaho: Pilao. Dia hoy ny Tompo: Indro, hanisy pilao eo amin'ny Isiraely oloko Aho, fa tsy handefitra aminy intsony;[Heb. handalo azy]

⁸and Jehovah saith unto me, `What art thou seeing, Amos?` And I say, `A plumb-line;` and the Lord saith: `Lo, I am setting a plumb-line in the midst of My people Israel, I do not add any more to pass over to it.

⁹Dia ho foana ny fitoerana avon'Isaka, ary ho rava ny fitoera-masin'Isiraely; Ary hitsangana Aho ka hamely sabatra ny taranak'i Jeroboama.

⁹And desolated have been high places of Isaac, And sanctuaries of Israel are wasted, And I have risen against the house of Jeroboam with a sword.`

¹⁰[Ny natao tamin'i Amosa tao Betela, sy ny teny nataony tamin'izany] Dia naniraka tany amin'i Jeroboama, mpanjakan'ny Isiraely, Amazia, ilay mpisorona tao Betela, nanao hoe: Amosa efa nanao tetika hikomy aminao teo amin'ny taranak'Isiraely, ary tsy zakan'ny tany ny teniny rehetra,

¹⁰And Amaziah priest of Beth-El sendeth unto Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, `Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words,

¹¹satria hoy Amosa: Ho fatin-tsabatra Jeroboama, ary hobaboina hiala amin'ny taniny tokoa ny Isiraely.

¹¹for thus said Amos: By sword die doth Jeroboam, And Israel certainly removeth from off its land.`

¹²Ary hoy Amazia tamin'i Amosa: Ry mpahita! andeha mandositra mankany amin'ny tanin'ny Joda ianao, ka mihinàna hanina any, ary maminania any;

¹²And Amaziah saith unto Amos, `Seer, go flee for thee unto the land of Judah, and eat there bread, and there thou dost prophesy;

¹³fa aza maminany eto Betela intsony; fa fitoera-masin'ny mpanjaka sy tranom-panjakana ity.

¹³and [at] Beth-El do not add to prophesy any more, for it [is] the king`s sanctuary, and it [is] the royal house.`

¹⁴Dia namaly Amosa ka nanao tamin'i Amazia hoe: Tsy mba mpaminany aho, na zanaka ny mpaminany; fa mpiandry ondry sy mpioty aviavy ihany aho,[Na: mpandraotra][sykomora]

¹⁴And Amos answereth and saith unto Amaziah, `I [am] no prophet, nor a prophet`s son [am] I, but a herdsman I [am], and a cultivator of sycamores,

¹⁵saingy nalain'i Jehovah tany ampiandrasana ondry ka nataony hoe: Mandehana, ka maminania amin'ny Isiraely oloko.

¹⁵and Jehovah taketh me from after the flock, and Jehovah saith unto me, Go, prophesy unto My people Israel.

¹⁶Ka mba henoy ny tenin'i Jehovah: Hianao manao hoe: Aza maminany ny hamelezana ny Isiraely, ary aza milaza ny hamelezana ny taranak'Isaka;Koa izao no lazain'i Jehovah: Ny vadinao hijangajanga ao an-tanàna, ary ny zanakao-lahy sy ny zanakao-vavy ho lavon-tsabatra, Ary ny taninao hozaraina amin'ny famolaina; Ary ny tenanao ho faty any amin'ny tany maloto; Ary ny Isiraely hobaboina hiala amin'ny taniny tokoa.

¹⁶And now, hear a word of Jehovah: thou art saying, Do not prophesy against Israel, nor drop [any thing] against the house of Isaac,

¹⁷Koa izao no lazain'i Jehovah: Ny vadinao hijangajanga ao an-tanàna, ary ny zanakao-lahy sy ny zanakao-vavy ho lavon-tsabatra, Ary ny taninao hozaraina amin'ny famolaina; Ary ny tenanao ho faty any amin'ny tany maloto; Ary ny Isiraely hobaboina hiala amin'ny taniny tokoa.

¹⁷therefore thus said Jehovah: Thy wife in the city doth go a-whoring, And thy sons and thy daughters by sword do fall, And thy land by line is apportioned, And thou on an unclean land diest, And Israel certainly removeth from off its land.`
