¹And Elihu answereth and saith:

²Mandrenesa ny teniko, ianareo olon-kendry; Ary mihainoa ahy, ianareo manam-pahalalana.

²Hear, O wise men, my words, And, O knowing ones, give ear to me.

³Fa ny sofina no mamantatra teny, Ary ny vava no manandrana hanina.[Heb. lanilany]

³For the ear doth try words, And the palate tasteth to eat.

⁴Koa aoka izay rariny no hodinihintsika, ary aoka hiara-mamantatra izay tsara isika.

⁴Judgment let us choose for ourselves, Let us know among ourselves what [is] good.

⁵Fa Joba efa nanao hoe: Marina aho, saingy nesorin'Andriamanitra tamiko ny rariny;

⁵For Job hath said, `I have been righteous, And God hath turned aside my right,

⁶Marina ny ahy, nefa ampandaingainy aho; Mahafaty ny zana-tsipìka mitsatoka amiko, na dia tsy manam-pahadisoana aza aho.

⁶Against my right do I lie? Mortal [is] mine arrow — without transgression.`

⁷Aiza moa no misy lehilahy tahaka an'i Joba, izay manaram-po amin'ny famingavingana toy ny fisotro rano.

⁷Who [is] a man like Job? He drinketh scoffing like water,

⁸Ary tonga naman'ny mpanao ratsy sady miara-mandeha amin'ny ratsy fanahy?

⁸And he hath travelled for company With workers of iniquity, So as to go with men of wickedness.

⁹Fa hoy izy: Tsy mahasoa ny olona ny mihavana amin'Andriamanitra.

⁹For he hath said, `It doth not profit a man, When he delighteth himself with God.`

¹⁰Koa amin'izany mihainoa ahy, ianareo manam-panahy: Lavitra an'Andriamanitra ny hanao ratsy! Ary lavitra ny Tsitoha ny hanao meloka!

¹⁰Therefore, O men of heart, hearken to me; Far be it from God to do wickedness, And [from] the Mighty to do perverseness:

¹¹Fa ny nataon'ny olona ihany no ampanodiaviny azy, ka mamaly ny olona rehetra araka ny lalany avy Izy.

¹¹For the work of man he repayeth to him, And according to the path of each He doth cause him to find.

¹²Eny tokoa, Andriamanitra tsy manao ratsy mihitsy, ary ny Tsitoha tsy mba mamadika ny rariny.

¹²Yea, truly, God doth not do wickedly, And the Mighty doth not pervert judgment.

¹³Iza moa no nanendry Azy ho Mpiadidy ny tany? Ary iza no nanorina izao tontolo izao?

¹³Who hath inspected for Himself the earth? And who hath placed all the habitable world?

¹⁴Raha tàhiny ny tenany ihany no heveriny, ka hangoniny ho ao aminy ny fanahiny sy ny fofonainy,

¹⁴If He doth set on him His heart, His spirit and his breath unto Him He gathereth.

¹⁵Dia hiala avokoa ny ain'ny nofo rehetra, ary hiverina amin'ny vovoka ny olona.

¹⁵Expire doth all flesh together, And man to dust returneth.

¹⁶Raha manam-pahalalana ianao, dia mandrenesa izao, ka mihainoa ny teniko

¹⁶And if [there is] understanding, hear this, Give ear to the voice of my words.

¹⁷Moa mahay mifehy va izay tsy tia rariny? Ary Ilay marina sady mahery va no hohelohinao?

¹⁷Yea, doth one hating justice govern? Or the Most Just dost thou condemn?

¹⁸(Mety va ny miteny amin'ny mpanjaka hoe: Olom-poana ianao! Ary amin'ny zanak'andriana: Ry ilay ratsy!),

¹⁸Who hath said to a king — `Worthless,` Unto princes — `Wicked?`

¹⁹Dia Ilay tsy mizaha ny tavan'ny lehibe, ary tsy manaja ny ambony mihoatra noho ny ambany, satria samy asan'ny tànany avokoa izy rehetra.

¹⁹That hath not accepted the person of princes, Nor hath known the rich before the poor, For a work of His hands [are] all of them.

²⁰Maty amin'ny indray mipi-maso monja amin'ny mamatonalina ireny; Eny, ringana ny olona ka tsy ao intsony; Ary ny mahery dia lasa tsy esorin-tanana.

²⁰[In] a moment they die, and at midnight Shake do people, and they pass away, And they remove the mighty without hand.

²¹Fa ny mason'Andriamanitra dia mijery ny alehan'ny olona, ary mahita ny diany rehetra Izy.

²¹For His eyes [are] on the ways of each, And all his steps He doth see.

²²Tsy misy aizina na alim-pito, Izay hieren'ny mpanao ratsy.

²²There is no darkness nor death-shade, For workers of iniquity to be hidden there;

²³Fa Andriamanitra tsy mba miandry aloha vao mandinika ny olona Izay tonga hotsaraina eo anatrehany.

²³For He doth not suffer man any more, To go unto God in judgment,

²⁴Manorotoro ny olona mahery Izy, na dia tsy manadina aza, ka manangana olon-kafa hisolo azy.

²⁴He breaketh the mighty — no searching! And He appointeth others in their stead.

²⁵Koa hita amin'izany fa fantany ny asan'ireo, ka dia mamono azy amin'ny alina ho torotoro Izy.

²⁵Therefore He knoweth their works, And He hath overturned by night, And they are bruised.

²⁶Tehafiny tanana tahaka ny fanao amin'ny ratsy fanahy ireo eo imason'ny vahoaka.[Na: Mamely azy toy ny famely ny ratsy fanahy Izy]

²⁶As wicked He hath stricken them, In the place of beholders.

²⁷Izao no nialan'ireo tamin'Andriamanitra ka tsy nitandremany ny lalany akory,

²⁷Because that against right They have turned aside from after Him, And none of His ways have considered wisely,

²⁸Dia ny mba hahatonga ny fitarainan'ny malahelo eo anatrehany ka hampandre Azy ny fitarainan'ny ory.

²⁸To cause to come in unto Him The cry of the poor, And the cry of the afflicted He heareth.

²⁹Mangina Izy, ka iza no mahay manameloka? Ary manafin-tava Izy (ka iza no mahajery Azy?), na amin'ny firenena, na amin'ny olona tsirairay,[Na: Manome fiadanana]

²⁹And He giveth rest, and who maketh wrong? And hideth the face, and who beholdeth it? And in reference to a nation and to a man, [It is] the same.

³⁰Mba tsy hanjakan'ny ratsy fanahy, ary tsy ho voafandrika ny vahoaka.

³⁰From the reigning of a profane man, From the snares of a people;

³¹Fa moa mba efa nisy niteny tamin'Andriamanitra va nanao hoe: Efa nanandra-tena aho ka tsy hanao ratsy intsony;[Na: nijaly]

³¹For unto God hath any said: `I have taken away, I do not corruptly,

³²Izay tsy hitako mba ampianaro ahy; Raha nanao ratsy aho, dia tsy hanao intsony?

³²Besides [that which] I see, shew Thou me, If iniquity I have done — I do not add?`

³³Moa araka ny hevitrao va no hamaliany ny ataon'ny olona, no efa nandà ianao? Fa ianao no mifidy, fa tsy izaho, koa izay fantatrao no ambarao.[Na: Moa araka ny hevitrao va no hamaliany ny olona Fa efa nandà, ka dia ianao no tsy maintsy mifidy, fa tsy izaho]

³³By thee doth He recompense, That thou hast refused — That thou dost choose, and not I? And what thou hast known, speak.

³⁴Ny olona manam-panahy hilaza amiko, ary ny olon-kendry izay mihaino ahy hanao hoe:

³⁴Let men of heart say to me, And a wise man is hearkening to me.

³⁵Miteny tsy amim-pahalalana Joba, ary ny teniny tsy amim-pahendrena.

³⁵Job — not with knowledge doth he speak, And his words [are] not with wisdom.

³⁶Enga anie ka hizahan-toetra mandrakariva Joba noho ny famaliana ataony araka ny fanaon'ny ratsy fanahy!Fa ampiany fihaikana koa ny fahotany; Miteha-tanana eto amintsika izy ka manao teny maro ho enti-miady amin'Andriamanitra.

³⁶My Father! let Job be tried — unto victory, Because of answers for men of iniquity,

³⁷Fa ampiany fihaikana koa ny fahotany; Miteha-tanana eto amintsika izy ka manao teny maro ho enti-miady amin'Andriamanitra.

³⁷For he doth add to his sin, Transgression among us he vomiteth, And multiplieth his sayings to God.
