¹A man often reproved, hardening the neck, Is suddenly broken, and there is no healing.

²Raha mihamaro ny marina, dia faly ny vahoaka; Fa raha ny ratsy fanahy no manapaka, dia misento kosa izy.

²In the multiplying of the righteous the people rejoice, And in the ruling of the wicked the people sigh.

³Izay tia fahendrena no mahafaly ny rainy; Fa izay misakaiza amin'ny vehivavy janga dia mandany harena.

³A man loving wisdom rejoiceth his father, And a friend of harlots destroyeth wealth.

⁴Ny rariny no ampandrian'ny mpanjaka ny tany; Fa izay mandray tambitamby no mandrava azy kosa.[Na: mampandoa harena]

⁴A king by judgment establisheth a land, And one receiving gifts throweth it down.

⁵Izay olona mandrobo ny namany Dia mamela-pandrika ny tongony.

⁵A man taking a portion above his neighbour, Spreadeth a net for his own steps.

⁶Misy fandrika amin'ny heloky ny olon-dratsy; Fa ny marina mihoby sy mifaly.

⁶In the transgression of the evil [is] a snare, And the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

⁷Ny marina mihevitra ny adin'ny malahelo; Fa ny ratsy fanahy tsy hahalala fahendrena.

⁷The righteous knoweth the plea of the poor, The wicked understandeth not knowledge.

⁸Ny mpaniratsira mampihotakotaka ny tanàna; Fa ny hendry mampionona fahatezerana.[Heb. mampirehitra]

⁸Men of scorning ensnare a city, And the wise turn back anger.

⁹Raha iadian'ny hendry ny adala, Dia tezitra sy mihomehy izy, ka tsy hisy fitsaharana.[Na: Raha hendry miady amin'adala, na tezitra izy, na mihomehy, dia tsy misy fitsaharana]

⁹A wise man is judged by the foolish man, And he hath been angry, And he hath laughed, and there is no rest.

¹⁰Ny olona mpandatsa-drà mankahala ny tsy misy tsiny; Fa ny mahitsy kosa miahy ny ainy.[Na: Ary mitady ny ain'ny mahitsy]

¹⁰Men of blood hate the perfect, And the upright seek his soul.

¹¹Ny fahatezeran'ny adala dia avoakany avokoa; Fa ny hendry kosa manindry fo.

¹¹A fool bringeth out all his mind, And the wise till afterwards restraineth it.

¹²Raha mihaino lainga ny mpanapaka, Dia ho ratsy fanahy ny mpanompony rehetra.

¹²A ruler who is attending to lying words, All his ministers [are] wicked.

¹³Mihaona ny malahelo sy ny mpampahory; Jehovah no manazava ny mason'izy roa tonta.[Na: mpampanana vola]

¹³The poor and the man of frauds have met together, Jehovah is enlightening the eyes of them both.

¹⁴Izay mpanjaka mitsara marina ny malahelo, Dia haharitra mandrakizay ny seza fiandrianany.

¹⁴a king that is judging truly the poor, His throne for ever is established.

¹⁵Ny tsorakazo sy ny anatra no manome fahendrena; Fa ny zaza aranana mampahamenatra ny reniny.

¹⁵A rod and reproof give wisdom, And a youth let away is shaming his mother.

¹⁶Raha maro ny ratsy fanahy, dia mitombo ny ota; Fa ny marina ho faly mahita ny fahalavoany.

¹⁶In the multiplying of the wicked transgression multiplieth, And the righteous on their fall do look.

¹⁷Faizo ny zanakao, dia ho famelombelomana ny fonao izy Sy ho fifalian'ny fanahinao.

¹⁷Chastise thy son, and he giveth thee comfort, Yea, he giveth delights to thy soul.

¹⁸Raha tsy misy fahitana, dia atondraka hanaram-po amin'izay tsy mety ny olona; Fa raha mitandrina ny lalàna kosa izy, dia sambatra.

¹⁸Without a Vision is a people made naked, And whoso is keeping the law, O his happiness!

¹⁹Raha teny fotsiny ihany, dia tsy ampy hananarana ny mpanompo; Fa na dia fantany aza, tsy hankatoaviny.[Heb. tsy misy valiny]

¹⁹By words a servant is not instructed though he understand, And there is nothing answering.

²⁰Hitanao va ny olona faingam-bava? Ny adala aza misy hantenaina kokoa noho izy.

²⁰Thou hast seen a man hasty in his words! More hope of a fool than of him.

²¹Whoso is bringing up his servant delicately, from youth, [At] his latter end also he is continuator.

²²An angry man stirreth up contention, And a furious man is multiplying transgression.

²³The pride of man humbleth him, And humility of spirit upholdeth honour.

²⁴Izay miray tetika amin'ny mpangalatra dia manary tena; Mandre ny fampianianana izy, nefa tsy mety milaza.

²⁴Whoso is sharing with a thief is hating his own soul, Execration he heareth, and telleth not.

²⁵Mamandrika ny tahotra olona; Fa izay matoky an'i Jehovah no hovonjena.[Heb. hatao amin'ny avo]

²⁵Fear of man causeth a snare, And the confident in Jehovah is set on high.

²⁶Maro no mila sitraka amin'ny mpanapaka; Fa avy amin'i Jehovah ny fitsarana ny olona.[Heb. mitady ny tavan']Ny meloka dia fahavetavetana eo imason'ny marina; Ary ny mahitsy lalana dia mba fahavetavetana eo imason'ny ratsy fanahy kosa.

²⁶Many are seeking the face of a ruler, And from Jehovah [is] the judgment of each.

²⁷An abomination to the righteous [is] the perverse man, And an abomination to the wicked [is] the upright in the way!
