1¶ E aroha ana ahau ki a Ihowa: mona i whakarongo ki toku reo, ki aku inoi.
1I love Jehovah, for he hath heard my voice [and] my supplications;
2I tahuri mai tona taringa ki ahau: mo reira ka karanga ahau ki a ia i ahau e ora ana.
2For he hath inclined his ear unto me, and I will call upon him during [all] my days.
3I karapotia ahau e nga whakawiringa a te mate: mau pu ahau i nga mamae o te reinga, i kite ahau i te pawera, i te pouri.
3The bands of death encompassed me, and the anguish of Sheol took hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow:
4Na ko taku karangatanga ki te ingoa o Ihowa; Tena ra, e Ihowa, whakaorangia toku wairua.
4Then called I upon the name of Jehovah: I beseech thee, Jehovah, deliver my soul.
5He atawhai a Ihowa, he tika: ae, he aroha to tatou Atua.
5Gracious is Jehovah and righteous; and our God is merciful.
6E tiakina ana e Ihowa te hunga kuware: i whakaititia ahau, a nana ahau i whakaora.
6Jehovah keepeth the simple: I was brought low, and he saved me.
7E hoki, e toku wairua, ki tou okiokinga; kua atawhaitia hoki koe e Ihowa.
7Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8Nau hoki toku wairua i whakaora kei mate, oku kanohi kei whai roimata, oku waewae kei paheke.
8For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, my feet from falling.
9Tera ahau e haereere i te aroaro o Ihowa i te whenua o te ora.
9I will walk before Jehovah in the land of the living.
10¶ I whakapono ahau, koia ahau i korero ai: he nui toku whakawhiunga.
10I believed, therefore have I spoken. As for me, I was greatly afflicted.
11I mea ahau i toku ohoreretanga, He teka kau nga tangata katoa.
11I said in my haste, All men are liars.
12He aha taku e whakahoki ai ki a Ihowa mo ana atawhainga katoa i ahau?
12What shall I render unto Jehovah, [for] all his benefits toward me?
13I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of Jehovah.
14I will perform my vows unto Jehovah, yea, before all his people.
15Precious in the sight of Jehovah is the death of his saints.
16E Ihowa, he pono ko ahau tau pononga; ko ahau tau pononga, ko te tama a tau pononga wahine; nau i wewete oku here.
16Yea, Jehovah! for I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.
17I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of Jehovah.
18I will perform my vows unto Jehovah, yea, before all his people,
Whakamoemititia a Ihowa.
19In the courts of Jehovah's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!
