Psalms

143

1¶ He himene na Rawiri. E Ihowa, whakarongo ki taku inoi, kia titaha mai tou taringa ki aku inoi: whakahokia mai he kupu ki ahau i runga i tou pono, i runga i tou tika.
1{A Psalm of David.} Jehovah, hear my prayer; give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, in thy righteousness.
2A kaua e anga e whakawa ki tau pononga: ki tau titiro hoki kahore tetahi mea ora e tika.
2And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight no man living shall be justified.
3Kua tukinotia hoki toku wairua e te hoariri; patua iho e ia toku ora ki raro ki te whenua: meinga ana ahau e ia kia noho i nga wahi pouri, kia rite ki nga tupapaku onamata.
3For the enemy persecuteth my soul: he hath crushed my life down to the earth; he hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.
4Na reira i ngaro ai toku wairua i roto i ahau: moti rawa toku ngakau i roto i ahau.
4And my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.
5E mahara ana ahau ki nga ra onamata; e whakaaro ana ki au mahi katoa: e whakaaroaro ana ahau ki nga meatanga a ou ringa.
5I remember the days of old: I meditate on all thy doing; I muse on the work of thy hands.
6Totoro tonu atu oku ringa ki a koe: e hiainu ana toku wairua ki a koe, ano he whenua mauiui. (Hera.
6I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul, as a parched land, [thirsteth] after thee. Selah.
7¶ Hohoro te whakahoki kupu mai ki ahau, e Ihowa; ka hemo toku wairua: kei huna tou mata ki ahau; kei rite ahau ki te hunga e heke ana ki te poka.
7Answer me speedily, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, or I shall be like unto them that go down into the pit.
8Meinga kia rongo ahau ki tou aroha i te ata; e whakawhirinaki ana hoki ahau ki a koe: meinga kia matau ahau ki te ara e haere ai ahau; kua ara nei hoki toku wairua ki a koe.
8Cause me to hear thy loving-kindness in the morning, for in thee do I confide; make me to know the way wherein I should walk, for unto thee do I lift up my soul.
9Whakaorangia ahau, e Ihowa, i oku hoariri: ka kuhu nei ahau ki roto ki a koe.
9Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: unto thee do I flee for refuge.
10Whakaakona ahau ki te mea i tau e pai ai; ko koe hoki toku Atua: he pai tou wairua; arahina ahau ki te whenua o te tika.
10Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: let thy good Spirit lead me in a plain country.
11Whakahauorangia ahau, e Ihowa, he whakaaro ki tou ingoa; whakaarohia tou tika, ka whakaputa ake i toku wairua i roto i te pouri.
11Revive me, O Jehovah, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble;
12Aroha mai hoki, a huna oku hoariri: whakangaromia katoatia ano nga kaitukino o toku wairua: he pononga hoki ahau nau.
12And in thy loving-kindness cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that oppress my soul: for I am thy servant.
