1അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി; അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നെതിരെ പ്രബലനായ്തീര്ന്നു.
1Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.
2അവന് യെഹൂദയിലെ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിലൊക്കെയും സൈന്യങ്ങളെ ആക്കി; യെഹൂദാദേശത്തും തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസാ പിടിച്ച എഫ്രയീംപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും കാവല്പട്ടാളങ്ങളെയും ആക്കി.
2He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
3യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ വഴികളില് നടക്കയും ബാല്വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ ആശ്രയിക്കാതെ
3Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,
4തന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ആചാരപ്രകാരം നടക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കല്പനകളെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു
4but sought to the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
5യഹോവ അവന്നു രാജത്വം ഉറപ്പിച്ചു കൊടുത്തു; എല്ലായെഹൂദയും യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു കാഴ്ച കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന്നു ധനവും മാനവും വളരെ ഉണ്ടായി.
5Therefore Yahweh established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat tribute; and he had riches and honor in abundance.
6അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ വഴികളില് ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടു അവന് പൂജാഗിരികളെയും അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും യെഹൂദയില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
6His heart was lifted up in the ways of Yahweh: and furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
7അവന് തന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളില് ഉപദേശിപ്പാനായിട്ടു ബെന് -ഹയീല്, ഔബദ്യാവു, സെഖര്യ്യാവു, നെഥനയേല്, മീഖാ എന്നീ തന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും
7Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;
8അവരോടുകൂടെ ശെമയ്യാവു, നെഥന്യാവു, സെബദ്യാവു, അസായേല്, ശെമീരാമോത്ത്, യെഹോനാഥാന് , അദോനീയാവു, തോബീയാവു, തോബ്-അദോനീയാവു എന്നീ ലേവ്യരെയും അവരോടുകൂടെ എലീശാമാ, യെഹോരാം എന്നീ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും അയച്ചു.
8and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9അവര് യെഹൂദയില് ഉപദേശിച്ചു; യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകവും അവരുടെ കയ്യില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര് യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളിലൊക്കെയും സഞ്ചരിച്ചു ജനത്തെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.
9They taught in Judah, having the book of the law of Yahweh with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.
10യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു ഒരു ഭീതി യെഹൂദെക്കു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ദേശങ്ങളിലെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളിന്മേലും വീണിരുന്നതു കൊണ്ടു അവര് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തില്ല.
10The fear of Yahweh fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11ഫെലിസ്ത്യരിലും ചിലര് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു കാഴ്ചയും കപ്പമായി വെള്ളിയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അരാബ്യരും അവന്നു ഏഴായിരത്തെഴുനൂറു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനും ഏഴായിരത്തെഴുനൂറു വെള്ളാട്ടുകൊറ്റനുമുള്ള ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
11Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and silver for tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.
12യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് മേലക്കുമേല് പ്രബലനായ്തീര്ന്നു, യെഹൂദയില് കോട്ടകളെയും സംഭാരനഗരങ്ങളെയും പണിതു.
12Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles and cities of store.
13അവന്നു യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളില് വളരെ പ്രവൃത്തി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; പരാക്രമശാലികളായ യോദ്ധാക്കള് യെരൂശലേമില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
13He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.
14പിതൃഭവനംപിതൃഭവനമായുള്ള അവരുടെ എണ്ണമാവിതുയെഹൂദയുടെ സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാര്അദ്നാപ്രഭു, അവനോടുകൂടെ മൂന്നുലക്ഷം പരാക്രമശാലികള്;
14This was the numbering of them according to their fathers’ houses: Of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand;
15അവന്റെശേഷം യെഹോഹാനാന് പ്രഭു, അവനോടുകൂടെ രണ്ടുലക്ഷത്തെണ്പതിനായിരം പേര്;
15and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;
16അവന്റെ ശേഷം തന്നെത്താന് മന:പൂര്വ്വമായി യഹോവേക്കു ഭരമേല്പിച്ചവനായ സിക്രിയുടെ മകന് അമസ്യാവു അവനോടുകൂടെ രണ്ടുലക്ഷം പരാക്രമശാലികള്;
16and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Yahweh; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
17ബെന്യാമീനില്നിന്നു പരാക്രമശാലിയായ എല്യാദാ അവനോടുകൂടെ വില്ലും പരിചയും ധരിച്ച രണ്ടുലക്ഷം പേര്;
17Of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
18അവന്റെ ശേഷം യെഹോസാബാദ്, അവനോടുകൂടെ യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായ ലക്ഷത്തെണ്പതിനായിരം പേര്.
18and next to him Jehozabad and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready prepared for war.
19രാജാവു യെഹൂദയിലൊക്കെയും ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ആക്കിയിരുന്നവരെ കൂടാതെ രാജാവിന്നു സേവ ചെയ്തുവന്നവര് ഇവര് തന്നേ.
19These were those who waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
