1യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു ധനവും മാനവും വളരെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് ആഹാബിനോടു സംബന്ധം കൂടി.
1Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he joined affinity with Ahab.
2ചില സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അവന് ശമര്യ്യയില് ആഹാബിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു; ആഹാബ് അവന്നും കൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജനത്തിന്നും വേണ്ടി വളരെ ആടുകളെയും കാളകളെയും അറുത്തു; ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു തന്നോടുകൂടെ ചെല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ വശീകരിച്ചു.
2After certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.
3യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബ് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുനീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവന് അവനോടുഞാനും നീയും എന്റെ ജനവും നിന്റെ ജനവും ഒരുപോലെയല്ലോ; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”
4യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടുഇന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചാലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of Yahweh.”
5യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു നാനൂറു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ വരുത്തി അവരോടുഞങ്ങള് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവര്പുറപ്പെടുക; ദൈവം അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” They said, “Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
6എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത്നാം അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനായിട്ടു ഇനി ആരും ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
6But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we may inquire of him?”
7അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുനാം യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഇനി ഒരുത്തനുണ്ടു; എന്നാല് അവന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ഒരിക്കലും ഗുണമല്ല എല്ലായ്പോഴുംദോഷം തന്നേ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു അവനെ ഇഷ്ടമില്ല; അവന് യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. രാജാവു അങ്ങനെ പറയരുതേ എന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.
7The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”
8അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെ വിളിച്ചുയിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവെ വേഗം കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
8Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Get Micaiah the son of Imla quickly.”
9യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു ശമര്യ്യയുടെ പടിവാതില് പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കല് ഒരു വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു താന്താന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ സന്നിധിയില് പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
9Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
10കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു തനിക്കു ഇരിമ്പുകൊണ്ടു കൊമ്പുണ്ടാക്കിനീ ഇവകൊണ്ടു അരാമ്യരെ അവര് ഒടുങ്ങുംവരെ കുത്തിക്കളയും എന്നിപ്രകാരം യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
10Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”
11പ്രവാചകന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ പ്രവചിച്ചുഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെടുക; നീ കൃതാര്ത്ഥനാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11All the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
12മീഖായാവെ വിളിപ്പാന് പോയ ദൂതന് അവനോടുനോകൂ, പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വാക്കുകള് ഒരുപോലെ രാജാവിന്നു ഗുണമായിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ വാക്കും അവരില് ഒരുത്തന്റേതുപോലെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; നീയും ഗുണമായി പറയേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
12The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good.”
13അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുയഹോവയാണ, എന്റെ ദൈവം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു തന്നേ ഞാന് പ്രസ്താവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
13Micaiah said, “As Yahweh lives, what my God says, that will I speak.”
14അവന് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള് രാജാവു അവനോടുമീഖായാവേ, ഞങ്ങള് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവന് പുറപ്പെടുവിന് ; നിങ്ങള് കൃതാര്ത്ഥരാകും; അവര് നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14When he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” He said, “Go up, and prosper. They shall be delivered into your hand.”
15രാജാവു അവനോടുനീ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് സത്യമല്ലാതെ യാതൊന്നും എന്നോടു പറയരുതെന്നു എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം ഞാന് നിന്നോടു സത്യംചെയ്തു പറയേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
15The king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Yahweh?”
16അതിന്നു അവന് ഇടയനില്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും പര്വ്വതങ്ങളില് ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കണ്ടു; അപ്പോള് യഹോവഇവര്ക്കും നാഥനില്ല; ഇവന് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16He said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. Yahweh said, ‘These have no master. Let them return every man to his house in peace.’”
17അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുഇവന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ദോഷമല്ലാതെ ഗുണം പ്രവചിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
18അതിന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്നാല് യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് ! യഹോവ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നതും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലെ സൈന്യമെല്ലാം അവന്റെ വലത്തും ഇടത്തും നിലക്കുന്നതും ഞാന് കണ്ടു.
18Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of Yahweh: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
19യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബ് ചെന്നു ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തില് പട്ടുപോകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ ആര് വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഒരുത്തന് ഇങ്ങനെയും ഒരുത്തന് അങ്ങനെയും പറഞ്ഞു.
19Yahweh said, ‘Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.
20എന്നാറെ ഒരു ആത്മാവു മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നിന്നുഞാന് അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യഹോവ അവനോടുഏതിനാല് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
20A spirit came out, stood before Yahweh, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “Yahweh said to him, ‘How?’
21അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് ചെന്നു അവന്റെ സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായില് ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും; നിനക്കു സാധിക്കും; നീ ചെന്നു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്ക എന്നു അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.
21“He said, ‘I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ “He said, ‘You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go forth, and do so.’
22ആകയല് ഇതാ, യഹോവ ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ നിന്റെ ഈ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വായില് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു അനര്ത്ഥം കല്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.
22“Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.”
23അപ്പോള് കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു അടുത്തുചെന്നു മീഖായാവെ ചെകിട്ടത്തു അടിച്ചുനിന്നോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു എന്നെ വിട്ടു ഏതു വഴിയായി കടന്നുവന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
23Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the Spirit of Yahweh go from me to speak to you?”
24അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുനീ ഒളിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അറ തേടിനടക്കുന്ന ദിവസത്തില് നീ കാണും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
24Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner room to hide yourself.”
25അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങള് മീഖായാവെ പിടിച്ചു നഗരാധിപതിയായ ആമോന്റെയും രാജകുമാരനായ യോവാശിന്റെയും അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു
25The king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
26ഇവനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് ആക്കി, ഞാന് സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവരുവോളം ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ അപ്പവും ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ വെള്ളവുംകൊണ്ടു പോക്ഷിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറവിന് .
26and say, ‘Thus says the king, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.”’”
27അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുനീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവരുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില് യഹോവ ഞാന് മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സകലജാതികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് എന്നും അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.
27Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, you peoples, all of you!”
28അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.
28So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
29എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുഞാന് വേഷംമാറി പടയില് കടക്കും; നീയോ രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു വേഷംമാറി, അവര് പടയില് കടന്നു.
29The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.
30എന്നാല് അരാംരാജാവു തന്റെ രഥനായകന്മാരോടുനിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടു മാത്രമല്ലാതെ ചെറിയവരോടോ വലിയവരോടോ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.
30Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, “Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”
31ആകയാല് രഥനായകന്മാര് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്; ഇവന് തന്നേ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനോടു പൊരുതുവാന് തിരിഞ്ഞു; എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിലവിളിച്ചു; യഹോവ അവനെ സഹായിച്ചു; അവനെ വിട്ടുപോകുവാന് ദൈവം അവര്ക്കും തോന്നിച്ചു.
31It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
32അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവല്ല എന്നു രഥനായകന്മാര് കണ്ടിട്ടു അവര് അവനെ പിന്തുടരാതെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
32It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
33എന്നാല് ഒരുത്തന് യദൃച്ഛയാ വില്ലു കുലെച്ചു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനെ കവചത്തിന്നും പതക്കത്തിന്നും ഇടെക്കു എയ്തു; അവന് തന്റെ സാരഥിയോടുനിന്റെ കൈ തിരിച്ചു എന്നെ പടയില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോക; ഞാന് കഠിനമായി മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
33A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, “Turn your hand, and carry me out of the army; for I am severely wounded.”
34അന്നു പട കഠിനമായി തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു സന്ധ്യവരെ അരാമ്യര്ക്കെതിരെ രഥത്തില് നിവിര്ന്നുനിന്നു; സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുന്ന സമയത്തു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി.
34The battle increased that day. However the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening; and about the time of the going down of the sun, he died.
