1ആഹാബിന്നു ശമര്യ്യയില് എഴുപതു പുത്രന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേല് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും മൂപ്പന്മാര്ക്കും ആഹാബിന്റെ പുത്രപാലകന്മാര്ക്കും ശമര്യ്യയിലേക്കു എഴുത്തുകളെ എഴുതി അയച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്
1Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, even the elders, and to those who brought up the sons of Ahab, saying,
2നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും രഥങ്ങളും കുതിരകളും ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണവും ആയുധങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈവശം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.
2“Now as soon as this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and armor.
3ആകയാല് ഈ എഴുത്തു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിയ ഉടനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരില് ഉത്തമനും യോഗ്യനുമായവനെ നോക്കിയെടുത്തു അവന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുത്തി നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വിന് .
3Select the best and fittest of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.”
4അവരോ ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടുരണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും അവനോടു എതിര്ത്തുനില്പാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലല്ലോ; പിന്നെ നാം എങ്ങനെ നിലക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, “Behold, the two kings didn’t stand before him! How then shall we stand?”
5ആകയാല് രാജധാനിവിചാരകനും നഗരാധിപതിയും മൂപ്പന്മാരും പുത്രപാലകന്മാരും യേഹൂവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാര്; ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങള് ചെയ്യാം; ഞങ്ങള് ഒരുത്തനെയും രാജാവാക്കുന്നില്ല; നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്തുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. അവന് രണ്ടാമതും എഴുത്തു എഴുതിയതുനിങ്ങള് എന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേന്നു എന്റെ കല്പന കേള്ക്കുമെങ്കില് നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ തല നാളെ ഈ നേരത്തു യിസ്രെയേലില് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് .
5He who was over the household, and he who was over the city, the elders also, and those who raised the children, sent to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants, and will do all that you ask us. We will not make any man king. You do that which is good in your eyes.”
6എന്നാല് രാജകുമാരന്മാര് എഴുപതു പേരും തങ്ങളെ വളര്ത്തുന്ന നഗരപ്രധാനികളോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു.
6Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, “If you are on my side, and if you will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men your master’s sons, and come to me to Jezreel by tomorrow this time.” Now the king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.
7ഈ എഴുത്തു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവര് രാജകുമാരന്മാരെ എഴുപതുപേരെയും പിടിച്ചു കൊന്നു അവരുടെ തലകൊട്ടയില് ആക്കി യിസ്രെയേലില് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.
7It happened, when the letter came to them, that they took the king’s sons, and killed them, even seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Jezreel.
8ഒരു ദൂതന് വന്നു അവനോടുഅവര് രാജകുമാരന്മാരുടെ തലകൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു. അവയെ പടിപ്പുരവാതില്ക്കല് രണ്ടു കൂമ്പാരമായി കൂട്ടി രാവിലെവരെ വെച്ചേക്കുവിന് എന്നു അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.
8A messenger came, and told him, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons.” He said, “Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.”
9പിറ്റെന്നാള് രാവിലെ അവന് പുറത്തു ചെന്നുനിന്നു സര്വ്വജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് നീതിമാന്മാര്; ഞാനോ എന്റെ യജമാനന്നു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി അവനെ കൊന്നു കളഞ്ഞു; എന്നാല് ഇവരെ ഒക്കെയും കൊന്നതു ആര്?
9It happened in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, “You are righteous. Behold, I conspired against my master, and killed him; but who struck all these?
10ആകയാല് യഹോവ ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളില് ഒന്നും നിഷ്ഫലമാകയില്ല എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് ; യഹോവ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ഏലീയാവുമുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
10Know now that nothing shall fall to the earth of the word of Yahweh, which Yahweh spoke concerning the house of Ahab. For Yahweh has done that which he spoke by his servant Elijah.”
11അങ്ങനെ യേഹൂ യിസ്രെയേലില് ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചവരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ സകല മഹത്തുക്കളെയും ബന്ധുക്കളെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ആരും ശേഷിക്കാതവണ്ണം സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
11So Jehu struck all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, with all his great men, his familiar friends, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.
12പിന്നെ അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശമര്യ്യയില് ചെന്നു വഴിയില് ഇടയന്മാര് രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന വീട്ടിന്നരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് യോഹൂ
12He arose and departed, and went to Samaria. As he was at the shearing house of the shepherds on the way,
13യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കണ്ടിട്ടുനിങ്ങള് ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. ഞങ്ങള് അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര്; രാജാവിന്റെ മക്കളെയും രാജ്ഞിയുടെ മക്കളെയും അഭിവന്ദനം ചെയ്വാന് പോകയാകുന്നു എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.
13Jehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, “Who are you?” They answered, “We are the brothers of Ahaziah. We are going down to greet the children of the king and the children of the queen.”
14അപ്പോള് അവന് അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അവര് അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിച്ചു; അവരെ നാല്പത്തിരണ്ടുപേരെയും രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന വീട്ടിന്റെ കളത്തിങ്കല്വെച്ചു കൊന്നു; അവരില് ഒരുത്തനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ല.
14He said, “Take them alive!” They took them alive, and killed them at the pit of the shearing house, even forty-two men. He didn’t leave any of them.
15അവന് അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള് തന്നെ എതിരേല്പാന് വരുന്ന രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബിനെ കണ്ടു വന്ദനം ചെയ്തു അവനോടുഎന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം പരമാര്ത്ഥമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യോനാദാബ് അതെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ എങ്കില് കൈ തരിക. അവന് കൈ കൊടുത്തു; അവന് അവനെ തന്റെ രഥത്തില് കയറ്റി.
15When he had departed from there, he met Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him. He greeted him, and said to him, “Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart?” Jehonadab answered, “It is.” “If it is, give me your hand.” He gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.
16നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ വന്നു യഹോവയെക്കുറിച്ചു എനിക്കുള്ള ശുഷ്കാന്തി കാണ്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവനെ രഥത്തില് കയറ്റി അവര് ഔടിച്ചു പോയി.
16He said, “Come with me, and see my zeal for Yahweh.” So they made him ride in his chariot.
17ശമര്യ്യയില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവന് ശമര്യ്യയില് ആഹാബിന്നു ശേഷിച്ചവരെ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ ഏലീയാവോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരം ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
17When he came to Samaria, he struck all who remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke to Elijah.
18പിന്നെ യേഹൂ സകലജനത്തെയും കൂട്ടി അവരോടുആഹാബ് ബാലിനെ അല്പമേ സേവിച്ചുള്ളു; യേഹൂവോ അവനെ അധികം സേവിക്കും.
18Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, “Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu will serve him much.
19ആകയാല് ബാലിന്റെ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും സകലപൂജകന്മാരെയും സകലപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുത്തുവിന് ; ഒരുത്തനും വരാതിരിക്കരുതു; ഞാന് ബാലിന്നു ഒരു മഹായാഗം കഴിപ്പാന് പോകുന്നു; വരാത്തവര് ആരും ജീവനോടിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; എന്നാല് ബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാരെ നശിപ്പിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം യേഹൂ ഈ ഉപായം പ്രയോഗിച്ചു.
19Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Baal, all of his worshippers, and all of his priests. Let none be absent; for I have a great sacrifice to Baal. Whoever is absent, he shall not live.” But Jehu did it in subtlety, intending that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.
20ബാലിന്നു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധസഭായോഗം ഘോഷിപ്പിന് എന്നു യേഹൂ കല്പിച്ചു. അവര് അങ്ങനെ ഘേഷിച്ചു.
20Jehu said, “Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal!” They proclaimed it.
21യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേല് ദേശത്തു എല്ലാടവും ആളയച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ബാലിന്റെ സകല പൂജകന്മാരും വന്നു; ഒരുത്തനും വരാതിരുന്നില്ല; അവര് ബാലിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് കൂടി; ബാല്ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു അറ്റംമുതല് മറ്റേ അറ്റംവരെ തിങ്ങിനിറഞ്ഞു.
21Jehu sent through all Israel; and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that didn’t come. They came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was filled from one end to another.
22അവന് വസ്ത്ര വിചാരകനോടുബാലിന്റെ സകലപൂജകന്മാര്ക്കും വസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു കൊടുക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവന് വസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു കൊടുത്തു.
22He said to him who was over the vestry, “Bring out robes for all the worshippers of Baal!” He brought robes out to them.
23പിന്നെ യേഹൂവും രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബും ബാലിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് കടന്നു ബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാരോടുബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാര് മാത്രമല്ലാതെ യഹോവയുടെ പൂജകന്മാര് ആരും ഇവിടെ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തിരഞ്ഞു നോക്കുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
23Jehu went with Jehonadab the son of Rechab into the house of Baal. Then he said to the worshippers of Baal, “Search, and look that there are here with you none of the servants of Yahweh, but the worshippers of Baal only.”
24അവര് ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളും ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും കഴിപ്പാന് അകത്തു ചെന്നശേഷം യേഹൂ പുറത്തു എണ്പതു പേരെ നിര്ത്തിഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കുന്ന ആളുകളില് ഒരുത്തന് ചാടിപ്പോയാല് അവന്റെ ജീവന്നു പകരം അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചവന്റെ ജീവന് ആയിരിക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
24They went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had appointed him eighty men outside, and said, “If any of the men whom I bring into your hands escape, he who lets him go, his life shall be for the life of him.”
25ഹോമയാഗം കഴിച്ചുതീര്ന്നപ്പോള് യേഹൂ അകമ്പടികളോടും പടനായകന്മാരോടുംഅകത്തു കടന്നു അവരെ കൊല്ലുവിന് ; ഒരുത്തനും പുറത്തു പോകരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് അവരെ കൊന്നു; അകമ്പടികളും പടനായകന്മാരും അവരെ പുറത്തു എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു; ബാല്ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് ചെന്നു
25It happened, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, “Go in, and kill them! Let none escape.” They struck them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.
26ബാല്ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ സ്തംഭവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
26They brought out the pillars that were in the house of Baal, and burned them.
27അവര് ബാല്സ്തംഭത്തെ തകര്ത്തു ബാല്ക്ഷേത്രത്തെ ഇടിച്ചു അതിനെ മറപ്പുരയാക്കിത്തീര്ത്തു; അതു ഇന്നുവരെ അങ്ങനെതന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
27They broke down the pillar of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine, to this day.
28ഇങ്ങനെ യേഹൂ ബാലിനെ യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
28Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
29എങ്കിലും ബേഥേലിലും ദാനിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പൊന് കാളകൂട്ടികളെക്കൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേലിനെ പാപം ചെയ്യുമാറാക്കിയ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ യേഹൂ വിട്ടുമാറിയില്ല.
29However from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin, Jehu didn’t depart from after them, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.
30യഹോവ യേഹൂവിനോടുഎനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളതു നീ നല്ലവണ്ണം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും എന്റെ ഹിതപ്രകാരം ഒക്കെയും ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹത്തോടു ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാസനത്തില് നാലാം തലമുറവരെ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
30Yahweh said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.”
31എങ്കിലും യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം പൂര്ണ്ണമനസ്സോടെ നടക്കുന്നതിന്നു ജാഗ്രത കാണിച്ചില്ല; യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ അവന് വിട്ടുമാറിയതുമില്ല.
31But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of Yahweh, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin.
32ആ കാലത്തു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിനെ കുറെച്ചുകളവാന് തുടങ്ങി; ഹസായേല് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അതിരുകളിലൊക്കെയും അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു.
32In those days Yahweh began to cut off from Israel; and Hazael struck them in all the borders of Israel;
33അവന് യോര്ദ്ദാന്നു കിഴക്കു ഗാദ്യര്, രൂബേന്യര്, മനശ്ശേയര് എന്നിവരുടെ ദേശമായ ഗിലെയാദ് മുഴുവനും ജയിച്ചടക്കി അര്ന്നോന് തോട്ടിന്നരികെയുള്ള അരോവേര് മുതല് ഗിലെയാദും ബാശാനും തന്നേ.
33from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.
34യേഹൂവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ സകലപരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
34Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
35യേഹൂ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമര്യ്യയില് അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസ് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
35Jehu slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria. Jehoahaz his son reigned in his place.
36യേഹൂ ശമര്യ്യയില് യിസ്രായേലിനെ വാണ കാലം ഇരുപത്തെട്ടു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു.
36The time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.
