1ശൌല് മരിക്കയും ദാവീദ് അമാലേക്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു മടങ്ങിവന്നു സിക്ളാഗില് രണ്ടു ദിവസം പാര്ക്കയും ചെയ്ത ശേഷം
1It happened after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had stayed two days in Ziklag;
2മൂന്നാം ദിവസം ഒരു ആള് വസ്ത്രം കീറിയും തലയില് പൂഴി വാരിയിട്ടുംകൊണ്ടു ശൌലിന്റെ പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു വന്നു, ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല് എത്തി സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
2it happened on the third day, that behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul, with his clothes torn, and earth on his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and showed respect.
3ദാവീദ് അവനോടുനീ എവിടെ നിന്നു വരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന് യിസ്രായേല് പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോരികയാകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.
3David said to him, “Where do you come from?” He said to him, “I have escaped out of the camp of Israel.”
4ദാവീദ് അവനോടുകാര്യം എന്തായി? പറക എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവന് ജനം പടയില് തോറ്റോടി; ജനത്തില് അനേകര് പട്ടുവീണു; ശൌലും അവന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനുംകൂടെ പട്ടുപോയി എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
4David said to him, “How did it go? Please tell me.” He answered, “The people have fled from the battle, and many of the people also have fallen and are dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.”
5വര്ത്തമാനം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരനോടു ദാവീദ്ശൌലും അവന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനും പട്ടുപോയതു നീ എങ്ങനെ അറിഞ്ഞു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു
5David said to the young man who told him, “How do you know that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?”
6വര്ത്തമാനം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരന് പറഞ്ഞതുഞാന് യദൃച്ഛയാ ഗില്ബോവപര്വ്വതത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നപ്പോള് ശൌല് തന്റെ കുന്തത്തിന്മേല് ചാരിനിലക്കുന്നതും തേരും കുതിരപ്പടയും അവനെ തുടര്ന്നടുക്കുന്നതും കണ്ടു;
6The young man who told him said, “As I happened by chance on Mount Gilboa, behold, Saul was leaning on his spear; and behold, the chariots and the horsemen followed hard after him.
7അവന് പിറകോട്ടു നോക്കി എന്നെ കണ്ടു വിളിച്ചുഅടിയന് ഇതാ എന്നു ഞാന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
7When he looked behind him, he saw me, and called to me. I answered, ‘Here I am.’
8നീ ആരെന്നു അവന് എന്നോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന് ഒരു അമാലേക്യന് എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
8He said to me, ‘Who are you?’ I answered him, ‘I am an Amalekite.’
9അവന് എന്നോടുനീ അടുത്തുവന്നു എന്നെ കൊല്ലേണം; എന്റെ ജീവന് മുഴുവനും എന്നില് ഇരിക്കകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു പരിഭ്രമം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9He said to me, ‘Please stand beside me, and kill me; for anguish has taken hold of me, because my life is yet whole in me.’
10അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അടുത്തുചെന്നു അവനെ കൊന്നു; അവന്റെ വീഴ്ചയുടെ ശേഷം അവന് ജീവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ തലയിലെ കിരീടവും ഭുജത്തിലെ കടകവും ഞാന് എടുത്തു ഇവിടെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
10So I stood beside him, and killed him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he had fallen. I took the crown that was on his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them here to my lord.”
11ഉടനെ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പറിച്ചുകീറി; കൂടെയുള്ളവരും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ ചെയ്തു.
11Then David took hold on his clothes, and tore them; and likewise all the men who were with him.
12അവര് ശൌലിനെയും അവന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനെയും യഹോവയുടെ ജനത്തെയും യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു അവര് വാളാല് വീണുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു വിലപിച്ചു കരഞ്ഞു സന്ധ്യവരെ ഉപവസിച്ചു.
12They mourned, and wept, and fasted until evening, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of Yahweh, “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
13ദാവീദ് വര്ത്തമാനം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരനോടുനീ എവിടുത്തുകാരന് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന് ഒരു അന്യജാതിക്കാരന്റെ മകന് , ഒരു അമാലേക്യന് എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
13David said to the young man who told him, “Where are you from?” He answered, “I am the son of a foreigner, an Amalekite.”
14ദാവീദ് അവനോടുയഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനെ സംഹരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കയ്യോങ്ങുവാന് നിനക്കു ഭയം തോന്നാഞ്ഞതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14David said to him, “How were you not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy Yahweh’s anointed?”
15പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് ബാല്യക്കാരില് ഒരുത്തനെ വിളിച്ചുനീ ചെന്നു അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കളക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15David called one of the young men, and said, “Go near, and fall on him.” He struck him, so that he died.
16അവന് അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു. ദാവീദ് അവനോടുനിന്റെ രക്തം നിന്റെ തലമേല്; യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനെ ഞാന് കൊന്നു എന്നു നീ നിന്റെ വായ് കൊണ്ടു തന്നെ നിനക്കു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16David said to him, “Your blood be on your head; for your mouth has testified against you, saying, ‘I have slain Yahweh’s anointed.’”
17അനന്തരം ദാവീദ് ശൌലിനെയും അവന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാനെയും കുറിച്ചു ഈ വിലാപഗീതം ചൊല്ലി--
17David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son
18അവന് യെഹൂദാമക്കളെ ഈ ധനുര്ഗ്ഗീതം അഭ്യസിപ്പിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു; അതു ശൂരന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ:-
18(and he commanded them to teach the children of Judah the song of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jashar):
19യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്റെ പ്രതാപമായവര് നിന്റെ ഗിരികളില് നിഹതന്മാരായി; വീരന്മാര് പട്ടുപോയതു എങ്ങനെ!
19“Your glory, Israel, is slain on your high places! How the mighty have fallen!
20ഗത്തില് അതു പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കരുതേ; അസ്കലോന് വീഥികളില് ഘോഷിക്കരുതേ; ഫെലിസ്ത്യപുത്രിമാര് സന്തോഷിക്കരുതേ; അഗ്രചര്മ്മികളുടെ കന്യകമാര് ഉല്ലസിക്കരുതേ.
20Don’t tell it in Gath. Don’t publish it in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
21ഗില്ബോവപര്വ്വതങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ മേല് മഞ്ഞോ മഴയോ പെയ്യാതെയും വഴിപാടുനിലങ്ങള് ഇല്ലാതെയും പോകട്ടെ. അവിടെയല്ലോ വീരന്മാരുടെ പരിച എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞതു; ശൌലിന്റെ തൈലാഭിഷേകമില്ലാത്ത പരിച തന്നേ.
21You mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain on you, neither fields of offerings; For there the shield of the mighty was vilely cast away, The shield of Saul was not anointed with oil.
22നിഹതന്മാരുടെ രക്തവും വീരന്മാരുടെ മേദസ്സും വിട്ടു യോനാഥാന്റെ വില്ലു പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞില്ല; ശൌലിന്റെ വാള് വൃഥാ പോന്നതുമില്ല.
22From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, Jonathan’s bow didn’t turn back. Saul’s sword didn’t return empty.
23ശൌലും യോനാഥാനും ജീവകാലത്തു പ്രീതിയും വാത്സല്യവും പൂണ്ടിരുന്നു; മരണത്തിലും അവര് വേര്പിരിഞ്ഞില്ല. അവര് കഴുകനിലും വേഗവാന്മാര്. സിംഹത്തിലും വീര്യവാന്മാര്.
23Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives. In their death, they were not divided. They were swifter than eagles. They were stronger than lions.
24യിസ്രായേല്പുത്രിമാരേ, ശൌലിനെച്ചൊല്ലി കരവിന് അവന് നിങ്ങളെ ഭംഗിയായി രക്താംബരം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രത്തിന്മേല് പൊന്നാഭരണം അണിയിച്ചു.
24You daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet delicately, who put ornaments of gold on your clothing.
25യുദ്ധമദ്ധ്യേ വീരന്മാര് പട്ടുപോയതെങ്ങിനെ! നിന്റെ ഗിരികളില് യോനാഥാന് നിഹതനായല്ലോ.
25How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan is slain on your high places.
26യോനാഥാനേ, എന്റെ സഹോദരാ, നിന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി ഞാന് ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നു; നീ എനിക്കു അതിവത്സലന് ആയിരുന്നു; നിന് പ്രേമം കളത്രപ്രേമത്തിലും വിസ്മയമേറിയതു.
26I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan. You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
27വീരന്മാര് പട്ടുപോയതു എങ്ങനെ; യുദ്ധായുധങ്ങള് നശിച്ചുപോയല്ലോ!
27How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!”
