1അബ്രാമിന്നു തൊണ്ണൂറ്റൊമ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് യഹോവ അബ്രാമിന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി അവനോടുഞാന് സര്വ്വശക്തിയുള്ള ദൈവം ആകന്നു; നീ എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നടന്നു നിഷ്കളങ്കനായിരിക്ക.
1When Abram was ninety-nine years old, Yahweh appeared to Abram, and said to him, “I am God Almighty. Walk before me, and be blameless.
2എനിക്കും നിനക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ ഞാന് എന്റെ നിയമം സ്ഥാപിക്കും; നിന്നെ അധികമധികമായി വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
2I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”
3അപ്പോള് അബ്രാം സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു; ദൈവം അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാല്
3Abram fell on his face. God talked with him, saying,
4എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു ഒരു നിയമമുണ്ടു; നീ ബഹുജാതികള്ക്കു പിതാവാകും;
4“As for me, behold, my covenant is with you. You will be the father of a multitude of nations.
5ഇനി നിന്നെ അബ്രാം എന്നല്ല വിളിക്കേണ്ടതു; ഞാന് നിന്നെ ബഹു ജാതികള്ക്കു പിതാവാക്കിയിരിക്കയാല് നിന്റെ പേര് അബ്രാഹാം എന്നിരിക്കേണം.
5Neither will your name any more be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.
6ഞാന് നിന്നെ അധികമധികമായി വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചു, അനേകജാതികളാക്കും; നിന്നില് നിന്നു രാജാക്കന്മാരും ഉത്ഭവിക്കും.
6I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you. Kings will come out of you.
7ഞാന് നിനക്കും നിന്റെ ശേഷം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും ദൈവമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് എനിക്കും നിനക്കും നിന്റെ ശേഷം തലമുറതലമുറയായി നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ എന്റെ നിയമത്തെ നിത്യനിയമമായി സ്ഥാപിക്കും.
7I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you.
8ഞാന് നിനക്കും നിന്റെ ശേഷം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും നീ പ്രവാസം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദേശമായ കനാന് ദേശം ഒക്കെയും ശാശ്വതാവകാശമായി തരും; ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും ദൈവമായുമിരിക്കും.
8I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land where you are traveling, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. I will be their God.”
9ദൈവം പിന്നെയും അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുനീയും നിന്റെശേഷം തലമുറതലമുറയായി നിന്റെ സന്തതിയും എന്റെ നിയമം പ്രമാണിക്കേണം.
9God said to Abraham, “As for you, you will keep my covenant, you and your seed after you throughout their generations.
10എനിക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും നിന്റെ ശേഷം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും മദ്ധ്യേയുള്ളതും നിങ്ങള് പ്രമാണിക്കേണ്ടതുമായ എന്റെ നിയമം ആവിതുനിങ്ങളില് പുരുഷപ്രജയൊക്കെയും പരിച്ഛേദന ഏല്ക്കേണം.
10This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your seed after you. Every male among you shall be circumcised.
11നിങ്ങളുടെ അഗ്രചര്മ്മം പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്യേണം; അതു എനിക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും മദ്ധ്യേയുള്ള നിയമത്തിന്റെ അടയാളം ആകും.
11You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin. It will be a token of the covenant between me and you.
12തലമുറതലമുറയായി നിങ്ങളില് പുരുഷപ്രജയൊക്കെയും എട്ടുദിവസം പ്രായമാകുമ്പോള് പരിച്ഛേദനഏല്ക്കേണം; വീട്ടില് ജനിച്ച ദാസനായാലും നിന്റെ സന്തതിയല്ലാത്തവനായി അന്യനോടുവിലകൂ വാങ്ങിയവനായാലും ശരി.
12He who is eight days old will be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he who is born in the house, or bought with money from any foreigner who is not of your seed.
13നിന്റെ വീട്ടില് ജനിച്ച ദാസനും നീ വിലകൊടുത്തു വാങ്ങിയവനും പരിച്ഛേദന ഏറ്റേകഴിയൂ; എന്റെ നിയമം നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേഹത്തില് നിത്യനിയമമായിരിക്കേണം.
13He who is born in your house, and he who is bought with your money, must be circumcised. My covenant will be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14അഗ്രചര്മ്മിയായ പുരുഷപ്രജയെ പരിച്ഛേദന ഏല്ക്കാതിരുന്നാല് ജനത്തില് നിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചുകളയേണം; അവന് എന്റെ നിയമം ലംഘിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
14The uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people. He has broken my covenant.”
15ദൈവം പിന്നെയും അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുനിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറായിയെ സാറായി എന്നല്ല വിളിക്കേണ്ടതു; അവളുടെ പേര് സാറാ എന്നു ഇരിക്കേണം.
15God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but her name will be Sarah.
16ഞാന് അവളെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു അവളില്നിന്നു നിനക്കു ഒരു മകനെ തരും; ഞാന് അവളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കയും അവള് ജാതികള്ക്കു മാതാവായി തീരുകയും ജാതികളുടെ രാജാക്കന്മാര് അവളില്നിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
16I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. Yes, I will bless her, and she will be a mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her.”
17അപ്പോള് അബ്രാഹാം കവിണ്ണുവീണു ചിരിച്ചുനൂറു വയസ്സുള്ളവന്നു മകന് ജനിക്കുമോ? തൊണ്ണൂറു വയസ്സുള്ള സാറാ പ്രസവിക്കുമോ? എന്നു തന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പറഞ്ഞു.
17Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?”
18യിശ്മായേല് നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നാല്മതി എന്നു അബ്രാഹാം ദൈവത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
18Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before you!”
19അതിന്നു ദൈവം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഅല്ല, നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ സാറാ തന്നേ നിനക്കൊരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; നീ അവന്നു യിസ്ഹാക് എന്നു പേരിടേണം; ഞാന് അവനോടു അവന്റെ ശേഷം അവന്റെ സന്തതിയോടും എന്റെ നിയമത്തെ നിത്യനിയമമായി ഉറപ്പിക്കും
19God said, “No, but Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You shall call his name Isaac. Isaac means “he laughs.” I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.
20യിശ്മായേലിനെ കുറിച്ചും ഞാന് നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു അത്യന്തം സന്താനപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനാക്കി വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കും. അവന് പന്ത്രണ്ടു പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെ ജനിപ്പിക്കും; ഞാന് അവനെ വലിയോരു ജാതിയാക്കും.
20As for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He will become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.
21എന്റെ നിയമം ഞാന് ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നതോ, ഇനിയത്തെ ആണ്ടു ഈ സമയത്തു സാറാ നിനക്കു പ്രസവിപ്പാനുള്ള യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടു ആകുന്നു.
21But my covenant I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year.”
22ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു തീര്ന്നശേഷം അവനെ വിട്ടു കയറിപ്പോയി.
22When he finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham.
23അനന്തരം അബ്രാഹാം തന്റെ മകനായ യിശ്മായേലിനെയും തന്റെ വീട്ടില് ജനിച്ച സകല ദാസന്മാരെയും താന് വിലകൂ വാങ്ങിയവരെ ഒക്കെയും അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ വീട്ടിലുള്ള സകല പുരുഷന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടി ദൈവം തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവരുടെ അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തെ അന്നുതന്നേ പരിച്ഛേദന കഴിച്ചു.
23Abraham took Ishmael his son, all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money; every male among the men of Abraham’s house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the same day, as God had said to him.
24അബ്രാഹാം പരിച്ഛേദനയേറ്റപ്പോള് അവന്നു തൊണ്ണൂറ്റെമ്പതു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.
24Abraham was ninety-nine years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25അവന്റെ മകനായ യിശ്മായേല് പരിച്ഛേദനയേറ്റപ്പോള് അവന്നു പതിമൂന്നു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.
25Ishmael, his son, was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26അബ്രാഹാമും അവന്റെ മകനായ യിശ്മായേലും ഒരേ ദിവസത്തില്പരിച്ഛേദന ഏറ്റു.
26In the same day both Abraham and Ishmael, his son, were circumcised.
27വീട്ടില് ജനിച്ച ദാസന്മാരും അന്യരോടു അവന് വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങിയവരുമായി അവന്റെ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവര് എല്ലാവരും അവനോടുകൂടെ പരിച്ഛേദന ഏറ്റു.
27All the men of his house, those born in the house, and those bought with money of a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
