1അനന്തരം യഹോവ അവന്നു മമ്രേയുടെ തോപ്പില്വെച്ചു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി; വെയിലുറെച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.
1Yahweh appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.
3യജമാനനേ, എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കില് അടിയനെ കടന്നുപോകരുതേ.
2He lifted up his eyes and looked, and saw that three men stood opposite him. When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth,
4അസാരം വെള്ളം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ കാലുകളെ കഴുകട്ടെ; വൃക്ഷത്തിന് കീഴില് ഇരിപ്പിന് .
3and said, “My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, please don’t go away from your servant.
5ഞാന് ഒരു മുറി അപ്പം കൊണ്ടുവരാം; വിശപ്പു അടക്കീട്ടു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പോകാം; ഇതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ നിങ്ങള് അടിയന്റെ അടുക്കല് കയറിവന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.
4Now let a little water be fetched, wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.
6അബ്രഹാം ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു കൂടാരത്തില് സാറയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുനീ ക്ഷണത്തില് മൂന്നിടങ്ങഴി മാവു എടുത്തു കുഴെച്ചു അപ്പമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5I will get a morsel of bread so you can refresh your heart. After that you may go your way, now that you have come to your servant.” They said, “Very well, do as you have said.”
7അബ്രാഹാം പശുക്കൂട്ടത്തില് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു ഇളയതും നല്ലതുമായൊരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ പിടിച്ചു ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരന്റെ പക്കല് കൊടുത്തു; അവന് അതിനെ ക്ഷണത്തില് പാകം ചെയ്തു.
6Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Quickly prepare three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.”
8പിന്നെ അവന് വെണ്ണയും പാലും താന് പാകം ചെയ്യിച്ച കാളകൂട്ടിയെയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവരുടെ മുമ്പില് വെച്ചു. അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വൃക്ഷത്തിന് കീഴില് ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു നിന്നു; അവര് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.
7Abraham ran to the herd, and fetched a tender and good calf, and gave it to the servant. He hurried to dress it.
9അവര് അവനോടുനിന്റെ ഭാര്യ സാറാ എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുകൂടാരത്തില് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.
8He took butter, milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them. He stood by them under the tree, and they ate.
10ഒരു ആണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരും; അപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ സാറെക്കു ഒരു മകന് ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. സാറാ കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് അവന്റെ പിന് വശത്തു കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നു.
9They asked him, “Where is Sarah, your wife?” He said, “See, in the tent.”
11എന്നാല് അബ്രാഹാമും സാറയും വയസ്സു ചെന്നു വൃദ്ധരായിരുന്നു. സ്ത്രീകള്ക്കുള്ള പതിവു സാറെക്കു നിന്നു പോയിരുന്നു.
10He said, “I will certainly return to you when the season comes round. Behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.” Sarah heard in the tent door, which was behind him.
12ആകയാല് സാറാ ഉള്ളുകൊണ്ടു ചിരിച്ചുവൃദ്ധയായിരിക്കുന്ന എനിക്കു സുഖഭോഗമുണ്ടാകുമോ? എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവും വൃദ്ധനായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.
13യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുവൃദ്ധയായ ഞാന് പ്രസവിക്കുന്നതു വാസ്തവമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു സാറാ ചിരിച്ചതു എന്തു?
12Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”
14യഹോവയാല് കഴിയാത്ത കാര്യം ഉണ്ടോ? ഒരു ആണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഈ സമയമാകുമ്പോള് ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരും; സാറെക്കു ഒരു മകന് ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
13Yahweh said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Will I really bear a child, yet I am old?’
15സാറാ ഭയപ്പെട്ടുഇല്ല, ഞാന് ചിരിച്ചില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെയല്ല, നീ ചിരിച്ചു എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
14Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes round, and Sarah will have a son.”
16ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു സൊദോംവഴിക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു; അബ്രാഹാം അവരെ യാത്ര അയപ്പാന് അവരോടുകൂടെ പോയി.
15Then Sarah denied, saying, “I didn’t laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”
17അപ്പോള് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഞാന് ചെയ്വാനിരിക്കുന്നതു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു മറെച്ചുവെക്കുമോ?
16The men rose up from there, and looked toward Sodom. Abraham went with them to see them on their way.
18അബ്രാഹാം വലിയതും ബലമുള്ളതുമായ ജാതിയായി തീരുകയും അവനില് ഭൂമിയിലെ ജാതികളൊക്കെയും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുമല്ലോ.
17Yahweh said, “Will I hide from Abraham what I do,
19യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു അവന്നു നിവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അബ്രാഹാം തന്റെ മക്കളോടും തനിക്കു പിമ്പുള്ള കുടുംബത്തോടും നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ വഴിയില് നടപ്പാന് കല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
18since Abraham has surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him?
20പിന്നെ യഹോവസൊദോമിന്റെയും ഗൊമോരയുടെയും നിലവിളി വലിയതും അവരുടെ പാപം അതി കഠിനവും ആകുന്നു.
19For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Yahweh may bring on Abraham that which he has spoken of him.”
21ഞാന് ചെന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നെത്തിയ നിലവിളിപോലെ അവര് കേവലം പ്രവൃത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു നോക്കി അറിയും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
20Yahweh said, “Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous,
22അങ്ങനെ ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവിടെനിന്നു തിരിഞ്ഞു സൊദോമിലേക്കു പോയി. അബ്രാഹാമോ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് തന്നേ നിന്നു.
21I will go down now, and see whether their deeds are as bad as the reports which have come to me. If not, I will know.”
23അബ്രാഹാം അടുത്തുചെന്നു പറഞ്ഞതുദുഷ്ടനോടുകൂടെ നീതിമാനെയും നീ സംഹരിക്കുമോ?
22The men turned from there, and went toward Sodom, but Abraham stood yet before Yahweh.
24പക്ഷേ ആ പട്ടണത്തില് അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാര് ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് നീ അതിനെ സംഹരിക്കുമോ? അതിലെ അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാര് നിമിത്തം ആ സ്ഥലത്തോടു ക്ഷമിക്കയില്ലയോ?
23Abraham drew near, and said, “Will you consume the righteous with the wicked?
25ഇങ്ങനെ നീ ഒരുനാളും ചെയ്യുന്നതല്ലല്ലോ? നീതിമാന് ദുഷ്ടനെപ്പോലെ ആകത്തക്കവണ്ണം ദുഷ്ടനോടുകൂടെ നീതിമാനെ നീ ഒരുനാളും കൊല്ലുകയില്ല. സര്വ്വ ഭൂമിക്കും ന്യായാധിപതിയായവന് നീതി പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കുമോ?
24What if there are fifty righteous within the city? Will you consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous who are in it?
26അതിന്നു യഹോവഞാന് സൊദോമില്, പട്ടണത്തിന്നകത്തു, അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാരെ കാണുന്നു എങ്കില് അവരുടെ നിമിത്തം ആ സ്ഥലത്തോടൊക്കെയും ക്ഷമിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
25Be it far from you to do things like that, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be like the wicked. May that be far from you. Shouldn’t the Judge of all the earth do right?”
27പൊടിയും വെണ്ണീറുമായ ഞാന് കര്ത്താവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.
26Yahweh said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sake.”
28അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാരില് പക്ഷേ അഞ്ചുപേര് കുറഞ്ഞു പോയെങ്കിലോ? അഞ്ചുപേര് കുറഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു നീ ആ പട്ടണം മുഴുവനും നശിപ്പിക്കുമോ എന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുനാല്പത്തഞ്ചു പേരെ ഞാന് അവിടെ കണ്ടാല് അതിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
27Abraham answered, “See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord, who am but dust and ashes.
29അവന് പിന്നെയും അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുപക്ഷേ നാല്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാന് നാല്പതുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
28What if there will lack five of the fifty righteous? Will you destroy all the city for lack of five?” He said, “I will not destroy it, if I find forty-five there.”
30അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് പിന്നെയും സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; കര്ത്താവു കോപിക്കരുതേ; പക്ഷേ മുപ്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് മുപ്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാല് നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
29He spoke to him yet again, and said, “What if there are forty found there?” He said, “I will not do it for the forty’s sake.”
31ഞാന് കര്ത്താവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; പക്ഷേ ഇരുപതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാന് ഇരുപതുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
30He said, “Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak. What if there are thirty found there?” He said, “I will not do it, if I find thirty there.”
32അപ്പോള് അവന് കര്ത്താവു കോപിക്കരുതേ; ഞാന് ഇനി ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യം മാത്രം സംസാരിക്കും; പക്ഷേ പത്തു പേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് പത്തുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
31He said, “See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord. What if there are twenty found there?” He said, “I will not destroy it for the twenty’s sake.”
33യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു തീര്ന്നശേഷം അവിടെനിന്നു പോയി. അബ്രാഹാമും തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
32He said, “Oh don’t let the Lord be angry, and I will speak just once more. What if ten are found there?” He said, “I will not destroy it for the ten’s sake.”
33Yahweh went his way, as soon as he had finished communing with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.
