1ശ്രീമാനായ തെയോഫിലോസേ, ആദി മുതല്‍ കണ്ട സാക്ഷികളും വചനത്തിന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരുമായവര്‍ നമ്മെ ഭരമേല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ,
1Since many have undertaken to set in order a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,
2നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില്‍ പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായി പ്രമാണിച്ചു വരുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങളെ വിവരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ചരിത്രം ചമെപ്പാന്‍ പലരും തുനിഞ്ഞിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു,
2even as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word delivered them to us,
3നിനക്കു ഉപദേശം ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വാര്‍ത്തയുടെ നിശ്ചയം നീ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു
3it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write to you in order, most excellent Theophilus;
4അതു ക്രമമായി എഴുതുന്നതു നന്നെന്നു ആദിമുതല്‍ സകലവും സൂക്ഷ്മമായി പരിശോധിച്ചിട്ടു എനിക്കും തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
4that you might know the certainty concerning the things in which you were instructed.
5യെഹൂദ്യരാജാവായ ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു അബീയാക്ക്കുറില്‍ സെഖര്‍യ്യാവു എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരോഹിതന്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ അഹരോന്റെ പുത്രിമാരില്‍ ഒരുത്തി ആയിരുന്നു; അവള്‍ക്കു എലീശബെത്ത് എന്നു പേര്‍.
5There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the priestly division of Abijah. He had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
6ഇരുവരും ദൈവസന്നിധിയില്‍ നീതിയുള്ളവരും കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ സകല കല്പനകളിലും ന്യായങ്ങളിലും കുററമില്ലാത്തവരായി നടക്കുന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.
6They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.
7എലീശബെത്ത് മച്ചിയാകകൊണ്ടു അവര്‍ക്കും സന്തതി ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞു; ഇരുവരും വയസ്സു ചെന്നവരും ആയിരുന്നു.
7But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.
8അവന്‍ ക്കുറിന്റെ ക്രമപ്രകാരം ദൈവസന്നിധിയില്‍ പുരോഹിതനായി ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുവരുമ്പോള്‍
8Now it happened, while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his division,
9പൌരോഹിത്യമര്യാദപ്രകാരം കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ മന്ദിരത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന്‍ അവന്നു നറുകൂ വന്നു.
9according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
10ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്ന നാഴികയില്‍ ജനസമൂഹം ഒക്കെയും പുറത്തു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
10The whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.
11അപ്പോള്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്റെ വലത്തു ഭാഗത്തു നില്‍ക്കുന്നവനായിട്ടു അവന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.
11An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
12സെഖര്യാവു അവനെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു ഭയപരവശനായി.
12Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.
13ദൂതന്‍ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുസെഖര്യാവേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിന്റെ പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനെക്കു ഉത്തരമായിനിന്റെ ഭാര്യ എലീശബെത്ത് നിനക്കു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യോഹന്നാന്‍ എന്നു പേര്‍ ഇടേണം.
13But the angel said to him, “Don’t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
14നിനക്കു സന്തോഷവും ഉല്ലാസവും ഉണ്ടാകും; അവന്റെ ജനനത്തിങ്കല്‍ പലരും സന്തോഷിക്കും.
14You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth.
15അവന്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്‍ വലിയവന്‍ ആകും; വീഞ്ഞും മദ്യവും കുടിക്കയില്ല; അമ്മയുടെ ഗര്‍ഭത്തില്‍വെച്ചു തന്നേ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നിറയും.
15For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.
16അവന്‍ യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കളില്‍ പലരെയും അവരുടെ ദൈവമായ കര്‍ത്താവിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചുവരുത്തും.
16He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God.
17അവന്‍ അപ്പന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ മക്കളിലേക്കും വഴങ്ങാത്തവരെ നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ബോധത്തിലേക്കും തിരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുക്കമുള്ളോരു ജനത്തെ കര്‍ത്താവിന്നുവേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കുവാന്‍ അവന്നു മുമ്പായി ഏലീയാവിന്റെ ആത്മാവോടും ശക്തിയോടും കൂടെ നടക്കും.
17He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to prepare a people prepared for the Lord.”
18സെഖര്യാവു ദൂതനോടു; ഇതു ഞാന്‍ എന്തൊന്നിനാല്‍ അറിയും? ഞാന്‍ വൃദ്ധനും എന്റെ ഭാര്യ വയസ്സുചെന്നവളുമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18Zacharias said to the angel, “How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”
19ദൂതന്‍ അവനോടുഞാന്‍ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില്‍ നിലക്കുന്ന ഗബ്രിയേല്‍ ആകുന്നു; നിന്നോടു സംസാരിപ്പാനും ഈ സദ്വര്‍ത്തമാനം നിന്നോടു അറിയിപ്പാനും എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
19The angel answered him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news.
20തക്കസമയത്തു നിവൃത്തിവരുവാനുള്ള എന്റെ ഈ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതു സംഭവിക്കുംവരെ നീ സംസാരിപ്പാന്‍ കഴിയാതെ മൌനമായിരിക്കും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
20Behold, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you didn’t believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”
21ജനം സെഖര്യാവിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു, അവന്‍ മന്ദിരത്തില്‍ താമസിച്ചതിനാല്‍ ആശ്ചര്യപെട്ടു.
21The people were waiting for Zacharias, and they marveled that he delayed in the temple.
22അവന്‍ പുറത്തു വന്നാറെ അവരോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല; അതിനാല്‍ അവന്‍ മന്ദിരത്തില്‍ ഒരു ദര്‍ശനം കണ്ടു എന്നു അവര്‍ അറിഞ്ഞു; അവന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും ആഗ്യം കാട്ടി ഊമനായി പാര്‍ത്തു.
22When he came out, he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute.
23അവന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷാകാലം തികഞ്ഞശേഷം അവന്‍ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി.
23It happened, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed to his house.
24ആ നാളുകള്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ എലീശബെത്ത് ഗര്‍ഭം ധരിച്ചു
24After these days Elizabeth, his wife, conceived, and she hid herself five months, saying,
25മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന നിന്ദ നീക്കുവാന്‍ കര്‍ത്താവു എന്നെ കടാക്ഷിച്ച നാളില്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ എനിക്കു ചെയ്തുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അഞ്ചു മാസം ഒളിച്ചു പാര്‍ത്തു.
25“Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my reproach among men.”
26ആറാം മാസത്തില്‍ ദൈവം ഗബ്രീയേല്‍ദൂതനെ നസറെത്ത് എന്ന ഗലീലപട്ടണത്തില്‍,
26Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27ദാവീദ് ഗൃഹത്തിലുള്ള യോസേഫ് എന്നൊരു പുരുഷന്നു വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്ന കന്യകയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ അയച്ചു; ആ കന്യകയുടെ പേര്‍ മറിയ എന്നു ആയിരുന്നു.
27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
28ദൂതന്‍ അവളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ അകത്തു ചെന്നുകൃപലഭിച്ചവളേ, നിനക്കു വന്ദനം; കര്‍ത്താവു നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28Having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!”
29അവള്‍ ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചുഇതു എന്തൊരു വന്ദനം എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.
29But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be.
30ദൂതന്‍ അവളോടുമറിയയേ, ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിനക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു.
30The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31നീ ഗര്‍ഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിക്കും; അവന്നു യേശു എന്നു പേര്‍ വിളിക്കേണം.
31Behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name ‘Jesus.’
32അവന്‍ വലിയവന്‍ ആകും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പുത്രന്‍ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും; കര്‍ത്താവായ ദൈവം അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം അവന്നു കൊടുക്കും
32He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,
33അവന്‍ യാക്കോബ് ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു എന്നേക്കും രാജാവായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്നു അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”
34മറിയ ദൂതനോടുഞാന്‍ പുരുഷനെ അറിയായ്കയാല്‍ ഇതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
34Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?”
35അതിന്നു ദൂതന്‍ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിന്റെ മേല്‍ വരും; അത്യുന്നതന്റെ ശക്തി നിന്റെ മേല്‍ നിഴലിടും; ആകയാല്‍ ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്ന വിശുദ്ധപ്രജ ദൈവപുത്രന്‍ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
35The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God.
36നിന്റെ ചാര്‍ച്ചക്കാരത്തി എലീശബെത്തും വാര്‍ദ്ധക്യത്തില്‍ ഒരു മകനെ ഗര്‍ഭം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മച്ചി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവന്നവള്‍ക്കു ഇതു ആറാം മാസം.
36Behold, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
37ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാര്യവും അസാദ്ധ്യമല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
37For everything spoken by God is possible.”
38അതിന്നു മറിയഇതാ, ഞാന്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദാസി; നിന്റെ വാക്കു പോലെ എനിക്കു ഭവിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ദൂതന്‍ അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി.
38Mary said, “Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word.” The angel departed from her.
39ആ നാളുകളില്‍ മറിയ എഴുന്നേറ്റു മല നാട്ടില്‍ ഒരു യെഹൂദ്യപട്ടണത്തില്‍ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു,
39Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah,
40സെഖര്യാവിന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ എത്തി എലീശബെത്തിനെ വന്ദിച്ചു.
40and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.
41മറിയയുടെ വന്ദനം എലീശബെത്ത് കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ പിള്ള അവളുടെ ഗര്‍ഭത്തില്‍ തുള്ളി; എലീശബെത്ത് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവളായി,
41It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുസ്ത്രീകളില്‍ നീ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവള്‍; നിന്റെ ഗര്‍ഭ ഫലവും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടതു
42She called out with a loud voice, and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
43എന്റെ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ മാതാവു എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വരുന്ന മാനം എനിക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി.
43Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44നിന്റെ വന്ദനസ്വരം എന്റെ ചെവിയില്‍ വീണപ്പോള്‍ പിള്ള എന്റെ ഗര്‍ഭത്തില്‍ ആനന്ദം കൊണ്ടു തുള്ളി.
44For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy!
45കര്‍ത്താവു തന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതിന്നു നിവൃത്തിയുണ്ടാകും എന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ചവള്‍ ഭാഗ്യവതി.
45Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!”
46അപ്പോള്‍ മറിയ പറഞ്ഞതു“എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കര്‍ത്താവിനെ മഹിമപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു;
46Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord.
47എന്റെ ആത്മാവു എന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ദൈവത്തില്‍ ഉല്ലസിക്കുന്നു.
47My spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,
48അവന്‍ തന്റെ ദാസിയുടെ താഴ്ച കടാക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഇന്നുമുതല്‍ എല്ലാ തലമുറകളും എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു വാഴ്ത്തും.
48for he has looked at the humble state of his handmaid. For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed.
49ശക്തനായവന്‍ എനിക്കു വലിയവ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
49For he who is mighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name.
50അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവര്‍ക്കും അവന്റെ കരുണ തലമുറതലമുറയോളം ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
50His mercy is for generations of generations on those who fear him.
51തന്റെ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ ബലം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു, ഹൃദയവിചാരത്തില്‍ അഹങ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെ ചിതറിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
51He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെ സിംഹാസനങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നു ഇറക്കി താണവരെ ഉയര്‍ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
52He has put down princes from their thrones. And has exalted the lowly.
53വിശന്നിരിക്കുന്നവരെ നന്മകളാല്‍ നിറെച്ചു, സമ്പന്നന്മാരെ വെറുതെ അയച്ചു കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
53He has filled the hungry with good things. He has sent the rich away empty.
54നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നും അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും എന്നേക്കും കരുണ ഔര്‍ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു,
54He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy,
55തന്റെ ദാസനായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ തുണെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
55As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his seed forever.”
56മറിയ ഏകദേശം മൂന്നു മാസം അവളോടു കൂടെ പാര്‍ത്തിട്ടു വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
56Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her house.
57എലീശബെത്തിന്നു പ്രസവിപ്പാനുള്ള കാലം തികഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അവള്‍ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു;
57Now the time that Elizabeth should give birth was fulfilled, and she brought forth a son.
58കര്‍ത്താവു അവള്‍ക്കു വലിയ കരുണ കാണിച്ചു എന്നു അയല്‍ക്കാരും ചാര്‍ച്ചക്കാരും കേട്ടിട്ടു അവളോടുകൂടെ സന്തോഷിച്ചു.
58Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her, and they rejoiced with her.
59എട്ടാം നാളില്‍ അവര്‍ പൈതലിനെ പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്‍വാന്‍ വന്നു; അപ്പന്റെ പേര്‍ പോലെ അവന്നു സെഖര്യാവു എന്നു പേര്‍ വിളിപ്പാന്‍ ഭാവിച്ചു.
59It happened on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of the father.
60അവന്റെ അമ്മയോഅല്ല, അവന്നു യോഹന്നാന്‍ എന്നു പേരിടേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
60His mother answered, “Not so; but he will be called John.”
61അവര്‍ അവളോടുനിന്റെ ചാര്‍ച്ചയില്‍ ഈ പേരുള്ളവര്‍ ആരും ഇല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
61They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”
62പിന്നെ അവന്നു എന്തു പേര്‍ വിളിപ്പാന്‍ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അപ്പനോടു ആഗ്യംകാട്ടി ചോദിച്ചു.
62They made signs to his father, what he would have him called.
63അവന്‍ ഒരു എഴുത്തു പലക ചോദിച്ചുഅവന്റെ പേര്‍ യോഹന്നാന്‍ എന്നു എഴുതി; എല്ലാവരും ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.
63He asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, “His name is John.” They all marveled.
64ഉടനെ അവന്റെ വായും നാവും തുറന്നു, അവന്‍ സംസാരിച്ചു ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചു.
64His mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue freed, and he spoke, blessing God.
65ചുറ്റും പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നവര്‍ക്കും എല്ലാം ഭയം ഉണ്ടായി;, യെഹൂദ്യമലനാട്ടില്‍ എങ്ങും ഈ വാര്‍ത്ത ഒക്കെയും പരന്നു.
65Fear came on all who lived around them, and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea.
66കേട്ടവര്‍ എല്ലാവരും അതു ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ നിക്ഷേപിച്ചുഈ പൈതല്‍ എന്തു ആകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ കൈ അവനോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
66All who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, “What then will this child be?” The hand of the Lord was with him.
67അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ സെഖര്യാവു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവനായി പ്രവചിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു
67His father, Zacharias, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
68“യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്‍ത്താവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന്‍ . അവന്‍ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചു ഉദ്ധാരണം ചെയ്കയും
68“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and worked redemption for his people;
69ആദിമുതല്‍ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപ്രവാചകന്മാര്‍ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ
69and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David
70നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ വശത്തു നിന്നും നമ്മെ പകെക്കുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും കയ്യില്‍ നിന്നും നമ്മെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍
70(as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old),
71തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തില്‍ നമുക്കു രക്ഷയുടെ കൊമ്പു ഉയര്‍ത്തുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു,
71salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us;
72നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു കരുണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും
72to show mercy towards our fathers, to remember his holy covenant,
73നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യില്‍ നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടു
73the oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father,
74നാം ആയുഷ്ക്കാലം ഒക്കെയും ഭയം കൂടാതെ തിരുമുമ്പില്‍ വിശുദ്ധിയിലും നീതിയിലും തന്നെ ആരാധിപ്പാന്‍ നമുക്കു കൃപ നലകുമെന്നു
74to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,
75അവന്‍ നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു സത്യവും തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധ നിയമവും ഔര്‍ത്തതുകൊണ്ടും ആകുന്നു.
75In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.
76നീയോ പൈതലേ, അത്യുന്നതന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്‍ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും. കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ഒരുക്കുവാനും
76And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways,
77നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആര്‍ദ്രകരുണയാല്‍ അവന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു പാപമോചനത്തില്‍ രക്ഷാപരിജ്ഞാനം കൊടുപ്പാനുമായി നീ അവന്നു മുമ്പായി നടക്കും.
77to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the remission of their sins,
78ഇരുളിലും മരണനിഴലിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കും പ്രകാശിച്ചു, നമ്മുടെ കാലുകളെ സമാധാനമാര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തില്‍ നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു
78because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,
79ആ ആര്‍ദ്രകരുണയാല്‍ ഉയരത്തില്‍നിന്നു ഉദയം നമ്മെ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
79to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
80പൈതല്‍ വളര്‍ന്നു ആത്മാവില്‍ ബലപ്പെട്ടു; അവന്‍ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു തന്നെത്താന്‍ കാണിക്കും നാള്‍വരെ മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.
80The child was growing, and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the desert until the day of his public appearance to Israel.
