1ആ കാലത്തു ഇടപ്രഭുവായ ഹെരോദാവു യേശുവിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേട്ടിട്ടു
1At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,
2അവന്‍ യോഹന്നാന്‍ സ്നാപകന്‍ ; അവന്‍ മരിച്ചവരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ നിന്നു ഉയിര്‍ത്തു; അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു ഈ ശക്തികള്‍ അവനില്‍ വ്യാപരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
2and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”
3ഹെരോദാവു തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഫീലിപ്പൊസിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹെരോദ്യ നിമിത്തം, അവള്‍ നിനക്കു ഭാര്യയായിരിക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമല്ല എന്നു
3For Herod had laid hold of John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.
4യോഹന്നാന്‍ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ, അവനെ പിടിച്ചു കെട്ടി തടവില്‍ ആക്കിയിരുന്നു.
4For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
5അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന്‍ മനസ്സുണ്ടായിട്ടു പുരുഷാരം അവനെ പ്രവാചകന്‍ എന്നു എണ്ണുകയാല്‍ അവരെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.
5When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
6എന്നാല്‍ ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ ജനനദിവസം ആയപ്പോള്‍ ഹെരോദ്യയുടെ മകള്‍ സഭാമദ്ധ്യേ നൃത്തം ചെയ്തു ഹെരോദാവിനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചു.
6But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.
7അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്തു ചോദിച്ചാലും അവള്‍ക്കു കൊടുക്കും എന്നു അവന്‍ സത്യംചെയ്തു വാക്കുകൊടുത്തു.
7Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
8അവള്‍ അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശപ്രകാരംയോഹന്നാന്‍ സ്നാപകന്റെ തല ഒരു താലത്തില്‍ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”
9രാജാവു ദുഃഖിച്ചു എങ്കിലും ചെയ്ത സത്യത്തെയും വിരുന്നുകാരെയും വിചാരിച്ചു അതു കൊടുപ്പാന്‍ കല്പിച്ചു;
9The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths, and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
10ആളയച്ചു തടവില്‍ യോഹന്നാനെ ശിരഃഛേദം ചെയ്യിച്ചു.
10and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
11അവന്റെ തല ഒരു താലത്തില്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ബാലെക്കു കൊടുത്തു; അവള്‍ അമ്മെക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി കൊടുത്തു.
11His head was brought on a platter, and given to the young lady: and she brought it to her mother.
12അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ ചെന്നു ഉടല്‍ എടുത്തു കുഴിച്ചിട്ടുപിന്നെ വന്നു യേശുവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.
12His disciples came, and took the body, and buried it; and they went and told Jesus.
13അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു യേശു അവിടംവിട്ടു പടകില്‍ കയറി നിര്‍ജ്ജനമായോരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു വേറിട്ടു വാങ്ങിപ്പോയി; പുരുഷാരം അതു കേട്ടു പട്ടണങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നു കാല്‍നടയായി അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.
13Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat, to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
14അവന്‍ വന്നു വലിയ പുരുഷാരത്തെ കണ്ടു അവരില്‍ മനസ്സലിഞ്ഞു അവരുടെ രോഗികളെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി.
14Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
15വൈകുന്നേരമായപ്പോള്‍ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നുഈ സ്ഥലം മരുഭൂമിയല്ലോ; നേരവും വൈകി; പുരുഷാരം ഗ്രാമങ്ങളില്‍ പോയി ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങള്‍ കൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”
16യേശു അവരോടു“അവര്‍ പോകുവാന്‍ ആവശ്യമില്ല; നിങ്ങള്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുപ്പിന്‍ ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17അവര്‍ അവനോടുഅഞ്ചു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു മീനും അല്ലാതെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഇവിടെ ഒന്നു ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”
18“അതു ഇങ്ങുകൊണ്ടുവരുവിന്‍ ” എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
18He said, “Bring them here to me.”
19പിന്നെ പുരുഷാരം പുല്ലിന്മേല്‍ ഇരിപ്പാന്‍ കല്പിച്ചു; ആ അഞ്ചു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു മീനും എടുത്തു, സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തേക്കു നോക്കി വാഴ്ത്തി, അപ്പം നുറുക്കി, ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ പക്കലും ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ പുരുഷാരത്തിന്നും കൊടുത്തു.
19He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
20എല്ലാവരും തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായി; ശേഷിച്ച കഷണം പന്ത്രണ്ടു കൊട്ട നിറച്ചെടുത്തു.
20They all ate, and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
21തിന്നവരോ സ്ത്രീകളെയും പൈതങ്ങളെയും കൂടാതെ ഏകദേശം അയ്യായിരം പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.
21Those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22ഉടനെ യേശു താന്‍ പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കുന്നതിന്നിടയില്‍ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ പടകില്‍ കയറി, തനിക്കുമുമ്പായി അക്കരെക്കു പേകുവാന്‍ അവരെ നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചു.
22Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
23അവന്‍ പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ടു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിപ്പാന്‍ തനിയെ മലയില്‍ കയറിപ്പോയി; വൈകുന്നേരം ആയപ്പോള്‍ ഏകനായി അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.
23After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
24പടകോ കരവിട്ടു പലനാഴിക ദൂരത്തായി, കാറ്റു പ്രതിക്കുലമാകകൊണ്ടു തിരകളാല്‍ വലഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
24But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25രാത്രിയിലെ നാലാം യാമത്തില്‍ അവന്‍ കടലിന്മേല്‍ നടന്നു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നു.
25In the fourth watch of the night, The night was equally divided into four watches, so the fourth watch is approximately 3:00 A. M. to sunrise. Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. see Job 9:8
26അവന്‍ കടലിന്മേല്‍ നടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ ഭ്രമിച്ചുഅതു ഒരു ഭൂതം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പേടിച്ചു നിലവിളിച്ചു.
26When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.
27ഉടനെ യേശു അവരോടു“ധൈര്യപ്പെടുവിന്‍ ; ഞാന്‍ ആകുന്നു; പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying “Cheer up! It is I! or, I AM! Don’t be afraid.”
28അതിന്നു പത്രൊസ്കര്‍ത്താവേ, നീ ആകുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ ഞാന്‍ വെള്ളത്തിന്മേല്‍ നിന്റെ അടുക്കെ വരേണ്ടതിന്നു കല്പിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”
29“വരിക” എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. പത്രൊസ് പടകില്‍ നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി, യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെല്ലുവാന്‍ വെള്ളത്തിന്മേല്‍ നടന്നു.
29He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.
30എന്നാല്‍ അവന്‍ കാറ്റു കണ്ടു പേടിച്ചു മുങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങുകയാല്‍കര്‍ത്താവേ, എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു.
30But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31യേശു ഉടനെ കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ പിടിച്ചു“അല്പവിശ്വാസിയേ, നീ എന്തിന്നു സംശയിച്ചു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
31Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
32അവര്‍ പടകില്‍ കയറിയപ്പോള്‍ കാറ്റു അമര്‍ന്നു.
32When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
33പടകിലുള്ളവര്‍നീ ദൈവപുത്രന്‍ സത്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
33Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”
34അവര്‍ അക്കരയെത്തി, ഗെന്നേസരെത്തു ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു.
34When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
35അവിടത്തെ ജനങ്ങള്‍ അവന്‍ ആരെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാട്ടില്‍ എല്ലാം ആളയച്ചു ദീനക്കാരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
35When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to him all who were sick,
36അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെ തൊങ്ങല്‍ മാത്രം തൊടുവാന്‍ അനുവാദം ചോദിച്ചു. തൊട്ടവര്‍ക്കും ഒക്കെയും സൌഖ്യം വന്നു.
36and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe or, tassel of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
