¹മകനേ, ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു ചെവികൊടുക്കയും ബോധത്തിന്നു നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ചായിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു

¹My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you;

²എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളില്‍ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചാല്‍,

²So as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;

³നീ ബോധത്തിന്നായി വിളിച്ചു വിവേകത്തിന്നായി ശബ്ദം ഉയര്‍ത്തുന്നു എങ്കില്‍,

³Yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding;

⁴അതിനെ വെള്ളിയെപ്പോലെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ തിരയുന്നു എങ്കില്‍,

⁴If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures:

⁵നീ യഹോവാഭക്തി ഗ്രഹിക്കയും ദൈവപരിജ്ഞാനം കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.

⁵then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” .

⁶യഹോവയല്ലോ ജ്ഞാനം നലകുന്നതു; അവന്റെ വായില്‍നിന്നു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും വരുന്നു.

⁶For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

⁷അവന്‍ നേരുള്ളവര്‍ക്കും രക്ഷ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നുനഷ്കളങ്കമായി നടക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കും അവന്‍ ഒരു പരിച തന്നേ.

⁷He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity;

⁸അവന്‍ ന്യായത്തിന്റെ പാതകളെ കാക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ വഴിയെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

⁸that he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints.

⁹അങ്ങനെ നീ നീതിയും ന്യായവും നേരും സകലസന്മാര്‍ഗ്ഗവും ഗ്രഹിക്കും.

⁹Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.

¹⁰ജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ പ്രവേശിക്കും; പരിജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നു ഇമ്പമായിരിക്കും.

¹⁰For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

¹¹വകതിരിവു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; വിവേകം നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും.

¹¹Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you,

¹²അതു നിന്നെ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വഴിയില്‍നിന്നും വികടം പറയുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്‍നിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

¹²to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things;

¹³അവര്‍ ഇരുട്ടുള്ള വഴികളില്‍ നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നേരെയുള്ള പാത വിട്ടുകളകയും

¹³who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

¹⁴ദോഷപ്രവൃത്തിയില്‍ സന്തോഷിക്കയും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വികടങ്ങളില്‍ ആനന്ദിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

¹⁴who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil;

¹⁵അവര്‍ വളഞ്ഞവഴിക്കു പോകുന്നവരും ചൊവ്വല്ലാത്ത പാതയില്‍ നടക്കുന്നവരും ആകുന്നു.

¹⁵who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths:

¹⁶അതു നിന്നെ പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നും ചക്കരവാക്കു പറയുന്ന അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ വശത്തുനിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

¹⁶To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words;

¹⁷അവള്‍ തന്റെ യൌവനകാന്തനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁷who forsakes the friend of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God:

¹⁸അവളുടെ വീടു മരണത്തിലേക്കും അവളുടെ പാതകള്‍ പ്രേതന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁸for her house leads down to death, her paths to the dead.

¹⁹അവളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെല്ലുന്ന ഒരുത്തനും മടങ്ങിവരുന്നില്ല; ജീവന്റെ പാതകളെ പ്രാപിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

¹⁹None who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life:

²⁰അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ സജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില്‍ നടന്നു നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്‍ക.

²⁰that you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

²¹നേരുള്ളവര്‍ ദേശത്തു വസിക്കും; നിഷ്കളങ്കന്മാര്‍ അതില്‍ ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കും.

²¹For the upright will dwell in the land. The perfect will remain in it.

²²എന്നാല്‍ ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്‍ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും; ദ്രോഹികള്‍ അതില്‍നിന്നു നിര്‍മ്മൂലമാകും.

²²But the wicked will be cut off from the land. The treacherous will be rooted out of it.
