1ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോടു അസൂയപ്പെടരുതു; അവരോടുകൂടെ ഇരിപ്പാന്‍ ആഗ്രഹിക്കയുമരുതു.
1Don’t be envious of evil men; neither desire to be with them:
2അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം സാഹസം ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ അധരം വേണ്ടാതനം പറയുന്നു.
2for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about mischief.
3ജ്ഞാനംകൊണ്ടു ഭവനം പണിയുന്നു; വിവേകംകൊണ്ടു അതു സ്ഥിരമായിവരുന്നു.
3Through wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established;
4പരിജ്ഞാനംകൊണ്ടു അതിന്റെ മുറികളില്‍ വലിയേറിയതും മനോഹരവുമായ സകല സമ്പത്തും നിറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.
4by knowledge the rooms are filled with all rare and beautiful treasure.
5ജ്ഞാനിയായ പുരുഷന്‍ ബലവാനാകുന്നു; പരിജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവന്‍ ബലം വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
5A wise man has great power; and a knowledgeable man increases strength;
6ഭരണസാമര്‍ത്ഥ്യത്തോടെ നീ യുദ്ധം നടത്തി ജയിക്കും; മന്ത്രിമാരുടെ ബഹുത്വത്തില്‍ രക്ഷയുണ്ടു.
6for by wise guidance you wage your war; and victory is in many advisors.
7ജ്ഞാനം ഭോഷന്നു അത്യുന്നതമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്‍ പട്ടണവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ വായ് തുറക്കുന്നില്ല.
7Wisdom is too high for a fool: he doesn’t open his mouth in the gate.
8ദോഷം ചെയ്‍വാന്‍ നിരൂപിക്കുന്നവനെ ദുഷ്കര്‍മ്മി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു;
8One who plots to do evil will be called a schemer.
9ഭോഷന്റെ നിരൂപണം പാപം തന്നേ; പരിഹാസി മനുഷ്യര്‍ക്കും വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു.
9The schemes of folly are sin. The mocker is detested by men.
10കഷ്ടകാലത്തു നീ കുഴഞ്ഞുപോയാല്‍ നിന്റെ ബലം നഷ്ടം തന്നേ.
10If you falter in the time of trouble, your strength is small.
11മരണത്തിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നവരെ വിടുവിക്ക; കുലെക്കായി വിറെച്ചു ചെല്ലുന്നവരെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ നോക്കുക.
11Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
12ഞങ്ങള്‍ അറിഞ്ഞില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നവന്‍ ഗ്രഹിക്കയില്ലയോ? നിന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കാക്കുന്നവന്‍ അറികയില്ലയോ? അവന്‍ മനുഷ്യന്നു പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം പകരം കൊടുക്കയില്ലയോ?
12If you say, “Behold, we didn’t know this”; doesn’t he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn’t he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work?
13മകനേ, തേന്‍ തിന്നുക; അതു നല്ലതല്ലോ; തേങ്കട്ട നിന്റെ അണ്ണാക്കിന്നു മധുരമത്രേ.
13My son, eat honey, for it is good; the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste:
14ജ്ഞാനവും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ എന്നറിക; നീ അതു പ്രാപിച്ചാല്‍ പ്രതിഫലം ഉണ്ടാകും; നിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശെക്കു ഭംഗം വരികയുമില്ല.
14so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul; if you have found it, then there will be a reward, your hope will not be cut off.
15ദുഷ്ടാ, നീ നീതിമാന്റെ പാര്‍പ്പിടത്തിന്നു പതിയിരിക്കരുതു; അവന്റെ വിശ്രാമസ്ഥലത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കയുമരുതു.
15Don’t lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous. Don’t destroy his resting place:
16നീതിമാന്‍ ഏഴുപ്രാവശ്യം വീണാലും എഴുന്നേലക്കും; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോ അനര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ നശിച്ചുപോകും.
16for a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again; but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
17നിന്റെ ശത്രു വീഴുമ്പോള്‍ സന്തോഷിക്കരുതു; അവന്‍ ഇടറുമ്പോള്‍ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ആനന്ദിക്കരുതു.
17Don’t rejoice when your enemy falls. Don’t let your heart be glad when he is overthrown;
18യഹോവ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന്നു ഇഷ്ടക്കേടാകുവാനും തന്റെ കോപം അവങ്കല്‍നിന്നു മാറ്റിക്കളവാനും മതി.
18lest Yahweh see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്‍ നിമിത്തം മുഷിയരുതു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോടു അസൂയപ്പെടുകയും അരുതു.
19Don’t fret yourself because of evildoers; neither be envious of the wicked:
20ദോഷിക്കു പ്രതിഫലമുണ്ടാകയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വിളകൂ കെട്ടുപോകും.
20for there will be no reward to the evil man; and the lamp of the wicked shall be snuffed out.
21മകനേ, യഹോവയെയും രാജാവിനെയും ഭയപ്പെടുക; മത്സരികളോടു ഇടപെടരുതു.
21My son, fear Yahweh and the king. Don’t join those who are rebellious:
22അവരുടെ ആപത്തു പെട്ടെന്നു വരും; രണ്ടു കൂട്ടര്‍ക്കും വരുന്ന നാശം ആരറിയുന്നു?
22for their calamity will rise suddenly; the destruction from them both—who knows?
23ഇവയും ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ വാക്യങ്ങള്‍. ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തില്‍ മുഖദാക്ഷിണ്യം നന്നല്ല.
23These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good.
24ദുഷ്ടനോടു നീ നീതിമാന്‍ എന്നു പറയുന്നവനെ ജാതികള്‍ ശപിക്കയും വംശങ്ങള്‍ വെറുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
24He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous”; peoples shall curse him, and nations shall abhor him—
25അവനെ ശാസിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കോ നന്മ ഉണ്ടാകും; നല്ലോരനുഗ്രഹം അവരുടെ മേല്‍ വരും.
25but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and a rich blessing will come on them.
26നേരുള്ള ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നവന്‍ അധരങ്ങളെ ചുംബനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.
26An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.
27വെളിയില്‍ നിന്റെ വേല ചെയ്ക; വയലില്‍ എല്ലാം തീര്‍ക്കുംക; പിന്നെത്തേതില്‍ നിന്റെ വീടു പണിയുക.
27Prepare your work outside, and get your fields ready. Afterwards, build your house.
28കാരണം കൂടാതെ കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷിനില്‍ക്കരുതു; നിന്റെ അധരംകൊണ്ടു ചതിക്കയും അരുതു.
28Don’t be a witness against your neighbor without cause. Don’t deceive with your lips.
29അവന്‍ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞാന്‍ അവനോടു ചെയ്യുമെന്നും ഞാന്‍ അവന്നു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു പകരം കൊടുക്കും എന്നും നീ പറയരുതു.
29Don’t say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.”
30ഞാന്‍ മടിയന്റെ കണ്ടത്തിന്നരികെയും ബുദ്ധിഹീനന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിന്നു സമീപെയും കൂടി പോയി.
30I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31അവിടെ മുള്ളു പടര്‍ന്നുപിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും തൂവ നിറഞ്ഞു നിലം മൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നതും അതിന്റെ കന്മതില്‍ ഇടിഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നതും കണ്ടു.
31Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
32ഞാന്‍ അതു നോക്കി വിചാരിക്കയും അതു കണ്ടു ഉപദേശം പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.
32Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction:
33കുറെക്കൂടെ ഉറക്കം, കുറെക്കൂടെ നിദ്ര, കുറെക്കൂടെ കൈ കെട്ടി കിടക്ക.
33a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep;
34അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം വഴിപോക്കനെപ്പോലെയും നിന്റെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടു ആയുധപാണിയെപ്പോലെയും വരും.
34so your poverty will come as a robber, and your want as an armed man.
