¹ലെമൂവേല്‍രാജാവിന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്‍; അവന്റെ അമ്മ അവന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചു കൊടുത്ത അരുളപ്പാടു.

¹The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him.

²മകനേ, എന്തു? ഞാന്‍ പ്രസവിച്ച മകനേ എന്തു? എന്റെ നേര്‍ച്ചകളുടെ മകനേ, എന്തു?

²“Oh, my son! Oh, son of my womb! Oh, son of my vows!

³സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്കു നിന്റെ ബലത്തെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കും നിന്റെ വഴികളെയും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

³Don’t give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

⁴വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കുന്നതു രാജാക്കന്മാര്‍ക്കും കൊള്ളരുതു; ലെമൂവേലേ, രാജാക്കന്മാര്‍ക്കും അതു കൊള്ളരുതു; മദ്യസക്തി പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര്‍ക്കും കൊള്ളരുതു.

⁴It is not for kings, Lemuel; it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’

⁵അവര്‍ കുടിച്ചിട്ടു നിയമം മറന്നുപോകുവാനും അരിഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ന്യായം മറിച്ചുകളവാനും ഇടവരരുതു.

⁵lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted.

⁶നശിക്കുമാറായിരിക്കുന്നവന്നു മദ്യവും മനോവ്യസനമുള്ളവന്നു വീഞ്ഞും കൊടുക്ക.

⁶Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish; and wine to the bitter in soul:

⁷അവന്‍ കുടിച്ചിട്ടു തന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം മറക്കയും തന്റെ അരിഷ്ടത ഔര്‍ക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

⁷Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

⁸ഊമന്നു വേണ്ടി നിന്റെ വായ് തുറക്ക; ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും കാര്യത്തില്‍ തന്നേ.

⁸Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate.

⁹നിന്റെ വായ് തുറന്നു നീതിയോടെ ന്യായം വിധിക്ക; എളിയവന്നും ദരിദ്രന്നും ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തുകൊടുക്ക.

⁹Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy.”

¹⁰സാമര്‍ത്ഥ്യമുള്ള ഭാര്യയെ ആര്‍ക്കും കിട്ടും? അവളുടെ വില മുത്തുകളിലും ഏറും.

¹⁰ Proverbs 31:10-31 form an acrostic, with each verse starting with each letter of the Hebrew alphabet, in order. Who can find a worthy woman? For her price is far above rubies.

¹¹ഭര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവളെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ലാഭത്തിന്നു ഒരു കുറവുമില്ല.

¹¹The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain.

¹²അവള്‍ തന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലമൊക്കെയും അവന്നു തിന്മയല്ല നന്മ തന്നേ ചെയ്യുന്നു.

¹²She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

¹³അവള്‍ ആട്ടുരോമവും ചണവും സമ്പാദിച്ചു താല്പര്യത്തോടെ കൈകൊണ്ടു വേലചെയ്യുന്നു.

¹³She seeks wool and flax, and works eagerly with her hands.

¹⁴അവള്‍ കച്ചവടക്കപ്പല്‍ പോലെയാകുന്നു; ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു ആഹാരം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു.

¹⁴She is like the merchant ships. She brings her bread from afar.

¹⁵അവള്‍ നന്നരാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു, വീട്ടിലുള്ളവര്‍ക്കും ആഹാരവും വേലക്കാരത്തികള്‍ക്കു ഔഹരിയും കൊടുക്കുന്നു.

¹⁵She rises also while it is yet night, gives food to her household, and portions for her servant girls.

¹⁶അവള്‍ ഒരു നിലത്തിന്മേല്‍ ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചു അതു മേടിക്കുന്നു; കൈനേട്ടംകൊണ്ടു അവള്‍ ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

¹⁶She considers a field, and buys it. With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.

¹⁷അവള്‍ ബലംകൊണ്ടു അര മുറക്കുകയും ഭുജങ്ങളെ ശക്തീകരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

¹⁷She arms her waist with strength, and makes her arms strong.

¹⁸തന്റെ വ്യാപാരം ആദായമുള്ളതെന്നു അവള്‍ ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ വിളകൂ രാത്രിയില്‍ കെട്ടുപോകുന്നതുമില്ല.

¹⁸She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp doesn’t go out by night.

¹⁹അവള്‍ വിടുത്തലെക്കു കൈ നീട്ടുന്നു; അവളുടെ വിരല്‍ കതിര്‍ പിടിക്കുന്നു.

¹⁹She lays her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.

²⁰അവള്‍ തന്റെ കൈ എളിയവര്‍ക്കും തുറക്കുന്നു; ദരിദ്രന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു കൈ നീട്ടുന്നു.

²⁰She opens her arms to the poor; yes, she extends her hands to the needy.

²¹തന്റെ വീട്ടുകാരെച്ചൊല്ലി അവള്‍ ഹിമത്തെ പേടിക്കുന്നില്ല; അവളുടെ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവര്‍ക്കൊക്കെയും ചുവപ്പു കമ്പളി ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

²¹She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

²²അവള്‍ തനിക്കു പരവതാനി ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ശണപടവും ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രവും അവളുടെ ഉടുപ്പു.

²²She makes for herself carpets of tapestry. Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

²³ദേശത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അവളുടെ ഭര്‍ത്താവു പട്ടണവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധനാകുന്നു.

²³Her husband is respected in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

²⁴അവള്‍ ശണവസ്ത്രം ഉണ്ടാക്കി വിലക്കുന്നു; അരക്കച്ച ഉണ്ടാക്കി കച്ചവടക്കാരനെ ഏല്പിക്കുന്നു.

²⁴She makes linen garments and sells them, and delivers sashes to the merchant.

²⁵ബലവും മഹിമയും അവളുടെ ഉടുപ്പു; ഭാവികാലം ഔര്‍ത്തു അവള്‍ പുഞ്ചിരിയിടുന്നു.

²⁵Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.

²⁶അവള്‍ ജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ വായ് തുറക്കുന്നു; ദയയുള്ള ഉപദേശം അവളുടെ നാവിന്മേല്‍ ഉണ്ടു.

²⁶She opens her mouth with wisdom. Faithful instruction is on her tongue.

²⁷വീട്ടുകാരുടെ പെരുമാറ്റം അവള്‍ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു നോക്കുന്നു; വെറുതെ ഇരുന്നു അഹോവൃത്തി കഴിക്കുന്നില്ല.

²⁷She looks well to the ways of her household, and doesn’t eat the bread of idleness.

²⁸അവളുടെ മക്കള്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവളെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നു; അവളുടെ ഭര്‍ത്താവും അവളെ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നതു

²⁸Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her:

²⁹അനേകം തരുണികള്‍ സാമര്‍ത്ഥ്യം കാണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു; നീയോ അവരെല്ലാവരിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

²⁹“Many women do noble things, but you excel them all.”

³⁰ലാവണ്യം വ്യാജവും സൌന്ദര്യം വ്യര്‍ത്ഥവും ആകുന്നു; യഹോവാഭക്തിയുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോ പ്രശംസിക്കപ്പെടും.

³⁰Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.

³¹അവളുടെ കൈകളുടെ ഫലം അവള്‍ക്കു കൊടുപ്പിന്‍ ; അവളുടെ സ്വന്തപ്രവൃത്തികള്‍ പട്ടണവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ അവളെ പ്രശംസിക്കട്ടെ.

³¹Give her of the fruit of her hands! Let her works praise her in the gates!
