1സകല ജാതികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, ഇതു കേള്‍പ്പിന്‍ ; സകലഭൂവാസികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, ചെവിക്കൊള്‍വിന്‍ .
1Hear this, all you peoples. Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,
2സാമാന്യജനവും ശ്രേഷ്ഠജനവും ധനവാന്മാരും ദരിദ്രന്മാരും തന്നേ.
2both low and high, rich and poor together.
3എന്റെ വായ് ജ്ഞാനം പ്രസ്താവിക്കും; എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ധ്യാനം വിവേകം തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കും.
3My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart shall utter understanding.
4ഞാന്‍ സദൃശവാക്യത്തിന്നു എന്റെ ചെവിചായക്കും; കിന്നരനാദത്തോടെ എന്റെ കടങ്കഥ കേള്‍പ്പിക്കും.
4I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will open my riddle on the harp.
5അകൃത്യം എന്റെ കുതികാലിനെ പിന്തുടര്‍ന്നു എന്നെ വളയുന്ന ദുഷ്കാലത്തു ഞാന്‍ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?
5Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?
6അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ സമ്പത്തില്‍ ആശ്രയിക്കയും ധനസമൃദ്ധിയില്‍ പ്രശംസിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
6Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—
7സഹോദരന്‍ ശവകൂഴി കാണാതെ എന്നെന്നേക്കും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു
7none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.
8അവനെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാനോ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുവില കൊടുപ്പാനോ ആര്‍ക്കും കഴികയില്ല.
8For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,
9അവരുടെ പ്രാണന്റെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പു വിലയേറിയതു; അതു ഒരുനാളും സാധിക്കയില്ല.
9That he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.
10ജ്ഞാനികള്‍ മരിക്കയും മൂഢനും മൃഗപ്രായനും ഒരുപോലെ നശിക്കയും തങ്ങളുടെ സമ്പാദ്യം മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്കും വിട്ടേച്ചു പോകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ.
10For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11തങ്ങളുടെ ഭവനങ്ങള്‍ ശാശ്വതമായും തങ്ങളുടെ വാസസ്ഥലങ്ങള്‍ തലമുറതലമുറയായും നിലക്കും. എന്നിങ്ങനെയാകുന്നു അവരുടെ അന്തര്‍ഗ്ഗതം; തങ്ങളുടെ നിലങ്ങള്‍ക്കു അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ പേരിടുന്നു.
11Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations. They name their lands after themselves.
12എന്നാല്‍ മനുഷ്യന്‍ ബഹുമാനത്തില്‍ നിലനില്‍ക്കയില്ല. അവന്‍ നശിച്ചുപോകുന്ന മൃഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തുല്യന്‍ .
12But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.
13ഇതു സ്വയാശ്രയക്കാരുടെ ഗതിയാകുന്നു; അവരുടെ അനന്തരവരോ അവരുടെ വാക്കുകളില്‍ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു. സേലാ
13This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. Selah.
14അവരെ പാതാളത്തിന്നു ആടുകളായി ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മൃത്യു അവരെ മേയിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവര്‍ പുലര്‍ച്ചെക്കു അവരുടെമേല്‍ വാഴും; അവരുടെ രൂപം ഇല്ലാതെയാകും; പാതാളം അവരുടെ പാര്‍പ്പിടം.
14They are appointed as a flock for Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. . Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. , far from their mansion.
15എങ്കിലും എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ ദൈവം പാതാളത്തിന്റെ അധികാരത്തില്‍നിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുക്കും; അവന്‍ എന്നെ കൈക്കൊള്ളും. സേലാ.

16ഒരുത്തന്‍ ധനവാനായിത്തീര്‍ന്നാലും അവന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചാലും നീ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു.
16Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased.
17അവന്‍ മരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ യാതൊന്നും കൊണ്ടുപോകയില്ല; അവന്റെ മഹത്വം അവനെ പിന്‍ ചെല്ലുകയുമില്ല.
17For when he dies he shall carry nothing away. His glory shall not descend after him.
18അവന്‍ ജീവനോടിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ താന്‍ ഭാഗ്യവാന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; നീ നിനക്കു തന്നേ നന്മ ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ മനുഷ്യര്‍ നിന്നെ പുകഴ്ത്തും.
18Though while he lived he blessed his soul— and men praise you when you do well for yourself—
19അവന്‍ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ തലമുറയോടു ചെന്നു ചേരും; അവര്‍ ഒരുനാളും വെളിച്ചം കാണുകയില്ല.
19he shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.
20മാനത്തോടിരിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യന്‍ വിവേകഹീനനായാല്‍ നശിച്ചുപോകുന്ന മൃഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തുല്യനത്രേ.
20A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.
