¹आता, तुम्ही ज्याविषयी आपणा त्यासंबंधाने: एखाद्या मनुष्याने एखाद्या स्त्रीला स्पर्श न करणे हे त्याच्यासाठी चांगले आहे,

¹And concerning the things of which ye wrote to me: good [it is] for a man not to touch a woman,

²परंतु जारकर्माचा मोह टाळण्यासाठी, प्रत्येक पुरुषाला त्याची स्वत:ची पत्नी असावी. व प्रत्येक स्त्रीला तिचा स्वत:चा पती असावा.

²and because of the whoredom let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her proper husband;

³पतीने त्याच्या पत्नीला पत्नी म्हणून तिचा हक्क द्यावा आणि त्याप्रमाणे पत्नीने तिच्या पतीला पतीचा हक्क द्यावा.

³to the wife let the husband the due benevolence render, and in like manner also the wife to the husband;

⁴पत्नीला तिच्या स्वत:च्या शरीरावर अधिकार नाही तर तो तिच्या पतील आहे.

⁴the wife over her own body hath not authority, but the husband; and, in like manner also, the husband over his own body hath not authority, but the wife.

⁵विषयसुखासाठी एकमेकाला वचित करु नका, तुम्हालां प्रार्थनेला वेळ देता यावा म्हणून एकमेकांच्या संमतीने ठराविक वेळेकरीता दूर राहा. आणि मग पुन्हा एक व्हा यासाठी की, सैतानाने तुम्च्यात आत्मसंयमन नसल्याने मोहात पाडू नये.

⁵Defraud not one another, except by consent for a time, that ye may be free for fasting and prayer, and again may come together, that the Adversary may not tempt you because of your incontinence;

⁶परंतु मी हे तुम्हांला सवलत म्हणून सांगतो, आज्ञा म्हणून नव्हे.

⁶and this I say by way of concurrence — not of command,

⁷मला असे वाटते की, सर्व लोक माझ्यासारखे असावेत पण प्रत्येक व्यक्तीला त्याचे स्वत:चे असे देवापासून दान आहे. एकाला एका प्रकारे राहण्याचे आणि दुसऱ्याला दुसऱ्या प्रकारे राहण्याचे.

⁷for I wish all men to be even as I myself [am]; but each his own gift hath of God, one indeed thus, and one thus.

⁸परंतु जे अविवाहित व विधवा आहेत त्यांना मी म्हणून की, म्हपासारखीचराहिली तर त त्यांना बरे.

⁸And I say to the unmarried and to the widows: it is good for them if they may remain even as I [am];

⁹and if they have not continence — let them marry, for it is better to marry than to burn;

¹⁰and to the married I announce — not I, but the Lord — let not a wife separate from a husband:

¹¹पण जर ती वेगळे राहते तर तिने लग्न न करताच राहावे किंवा पतीबरोबर समेट करावा. आणि पतीने आपल्या पत्नीला सोडचिठ्ठी देऊ नये.

¹¹but and if she may separate, let her remain unmarried, or to the husband let her be reconciled, and let not a husband send away a wife.

¹²आता इतरासाठी सांगतो, आणि हे मी सांगत आहे, प्रभु नाही: जर एखाद्या ख्रिस्ती बांधवाची पत्नी विश्वास ठेवणारी नसेल, आणि त्याच्याबरोबर राहण्यास ती राजी असेल तर त्याने तिला सोडचिठ्ठी देऊ नये.

¹²And to the rest I speak — not the Lord — if any brother hath a wife unbelieving, and she is pleased to dwell with him, let him not send her away;

¹³आणि एखाद्या स्त्रीचा नवरा जर विश्वास ठेवणारा नसेल आणि तो तिच्याबरोबर राहण्यास राजी असेल तर तिने त्याला सोडचिठ्ठी देऊ नये,

¹³and a woman who hath a husband unbelieving, and he is pleased to dwell with her, let her not send him away;

¹⁴कारण विश्वास न ठेवणाऱ्या पतीचे त्याच्या ख्रिस्ती पत्नीबरोबरच्या निकट सहवासाद्वारे पवित्रीकरण झाले आहे आणि विश्वास न ठेवणाऱ्या पत्नीचे त्या ख्रिस्ती पतीबरोबरच्या निकट सहवासाद्वारे त्यांचे नाते देवाच्या दृष्टीनेही कायदेशीर आहे. नाहीतर तुमची मुले अशुद्ध झाली असती, परंतु आता ती पवित्र आहेत.

¹⁴for the unbelieving husband hath been sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife hath been sanctified in the husband; otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

¹⁵तरीही विश्वास न ठेवणारा वेगळा होत असेल तर त्याने वेगळे व्हावे. याबाबतीत ख्रिस्ती बंधु किंवा बहीण यांना मोकळीक आहे. देवाने आपल्याला शांतीने राहण्यासाठी बोलावले आहे.

¹⁵And, if the unbelieving doth separate himself — let him separate himself: the brother or the sister is not under servitude in such [cases], and in peace hath God called us;

¹⁶कारण पत्नी, तू तुइया विश्वास न ठेवणाऱ्या पतीला तारु शकशील हे तुला कसे माहीत? किंवा पती, तू आपल्या विश्वास न ठेवणाऱ्या पत्नीला तारशील हे तुला कसे माहीत? देवाने पाचारण केल्याप्रमाणे राहा.

¹⁶for what, hast thou known, O wife, whether the husband thou shalt save? or what, hast thou known, O husband, whether the wife thou shalt save?

¹⁷फक्त, देवाने प्रत्येकाला जसे नेमले आहे आणि देवाने जसे प्रत्येकाला पाचारण केले आहे त्याप्रमाणे त्याने राहावे. आणि अशी मी सर्व मंडळ्यांना आज्ञा करतो.

¹⁷if not, as God did distribute to each, as the Lord hath called each — so let him walk; and thus in all the assemblies do I direct:

¹⁸एखाद्याला जेव्हा देवाने पाचारण केले होते तेव्हा त्याची अगोदरच सुंता झाली होती काय? त्याने आपली सुंता लपवू नये. कोणाला सुंता न झालेल्या स्थितीत पाचारण झाले काय, तर त्याने सुंता करु नये.

¹⁸being circumcised — was any one called? let him not become uncircumcised; in uncircumcision was any one called? let him not be circumcised;

¹⁹सुंता म्हणजे काही नाही व सुंता न होणे म्हणजेही काही नाही. तर देवाची आज्ञा पाळणे यात सर्व काही आहे.

¹⁹the circumcision is nothing, and the uncircumcision is nothing — but a keeping of the commands of God.

²⁰प्रत्येकाने ज्या स्थितीत त्याला पाचारण झाले त्या स्थितीत राहावे.

²⁰Each in the calling in which he was called — in this let him remain;

²¹तुला गुलाम म्हणून पाचारण झाले होते काय? त्यामुळे तुला त्रास होऊ नये, परंतु तुला स्वतंत्र होणे शक्य असेल तर पुढे हो व संधीचा उपयोग करुन घे.

²¹a servant — wast thou called? be not anxious; but if also thou art able to become free — use [it] rather;

²²कारण जो कोणी प्रभुमध्ये गुलाम असा पाचारण केलेला होता तो देवाचा मुक्त केलेला मनुष्य आहे, त्याचप्रमाणे ज्या मुक्त मनुष्याला देवाचे पाचारण झाले आहे तो देवाचा गुलाम आहे.

²²for he who [is] in the Lord — having been called a servant — is the Lord`s freedman: in like manner also he the freeman, having been called, is servant of Christ:

²³तुम्हांला किंमत देऊन विकत घेतले होते. मनुष्यांचे गुलाम होऊ नका.

²³with a price ye were bought, become not servants of men;

²⁴बंधूनो, तुम्हांतील प्रत्येकाने ज्या स्थितीत त्याला पाचारण झाले होते, त्याच स्थितीत त्याने देवासमोर राहावे.

²⁴each, in that in which he was called, brethren, in this let him remain with God.

²⁵आता कुमारिकेविषयी, मला प्रभूपासून आज्ञा नाही, पण मी माझे मत देतो. जो मी विश्वासनीय आहे कारण प्रभूने आम्हावर दया दाखविली.

²⁵And concerning the virgins, a command of the Lord I have not; and I give judgment as having obtained kindness from the Lord to be faithful:

²⁶मी हे असे समजतो: सध्याच्या दुर्दशेत हे चांगले आहे, (होय) हे चांगले आहे की, एखाद्याने माइयासारखे एकटे राहावे.

²⁶I suppose, therefore, this to be good because of the present necessity, that [it is] good for a man that the matter be thus: —

²⁷तुम्ही पत्नीशी बांधलेले आहात काय? तर मोकळे होण्यास पाहू नका. स्त्रीपासून मोकळे आहात काय? लग्न करण्याचे पाहू नका.

²⁷Hast thou been bound to a wife? seek not to be loosed; hast thou been loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.

²⁸पण जरी तुम्ही लग्न केले तरी तुम्ही पाप केलेले नाही. आणि जर कुमारिका लग्न करते तर तिने पाप केले नाही. पण अशा लोकांना शारीरिक पीडा होतील आणि या पीडा टाळण्यासाठी मी तुम्हाला मदत करण्याचा प्रयत्न करीत आहे.

²⁸But and if thou mayest marry, thou didst not sin; and if the virgin may marry, she did not sin; and such shall have tribulation in the flesh: and I spare you.

²⁹हेच मी म्हणत आहे, बंधूनो, वेळ थोडा आहे. येथून पुढे ज्यांना पत्न्या आहेत त्यांनी त्या नसल्यासारखे राहावे.

²⁹And this I say, brethren, the time henceforth is having been shortened — that both those having wives may be as not having;

³⁰जे शोक करीत आहेत त्यांनी शोक करीत नसल्यासारखे, जे आनंदी आहेत त्यांनी आनंदी नसल्यासारखे, जे वस्तु विकत घेत आहेत, त्यांनी जणू काही त्यांच्याकडे स्वत:चे काहीच नाही

³⁰and those weeping, as not weeping; and those rejoicing, as not rejoicing; and those buying, as not possessing;

³¹आणि जे लोक जग त्यांना ज्या त्यांना ज्या गोष्टी देऊ करते व त्या गोष्टींचा जे उपयोग करुन घेतात, त्यांनी जणू काय त्या गोष्टींचा पूर्ण उपयोग करुन घेतला नाही, असे राहावे. कारण या जगाची सध्याची स्थिती लयास जात आहे.

³¹and those using this world, as not using [it] up; for passing away is the fashion of this world.

³²माझी अशी इच्छा आहे की, तुम्ही काळजीपसून मुक्त असावे. अविवाहित पुरुष प्रभूच्या कामाविषयी आणि त्याला कसे संतोषविता येईल याबाबत काळजीत असतो.

³²And I wish you to be without anxiety; the unmarried is anxious for the things of the Lord, how he shall please the Lord;

³³परंतु विवाहित पुरुष जगिक गोष्टीविषयी आणि आपल्या पत्नीला कसे आनंदीत ठेवता येईल या काळजीत असतो.

³³and the married is anxious for the things of the world, how he shall please the wife.

³⁴त्यामुळे तो द्विधा अवस्थेत असतो. आणि एखादी अविवाहित स्त्री किंवा कुमारिका, प्रभूच्या कामाबद्दल उत्सुक असते. यासाठी की, तिने शरीराने आणि आत्म्याने पवित्र असावे. परंतु विवाहित स्त्री जगिक गोष्टी आणि तिच्या पतीला कसे आनंदी ठेवता येईल याचीच चिंता करते.

³⁴The wife and the virgin have been distinguished: the unmarried is anxious for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit, and the married is anxious for the things of the world, how she shall please the husband.

³⁵मी हे तुमच्याच फायद्यासाठी सांगत आहे. तुमच्यावर बंधने लादण्यासाठी सांगत नाही. आचरणातील, सुव्यवस्थेतील फायद्यासाठी व प्रभूच्या सेवेसाठी विनाअडथळा तुम्हाला समर्पण करणे शक्य व्हावे म्हणून सांगतो.

³⁵And this for your own profit I say: not that I may cast a noose upon you, but for the seemliness and devotedness to the Lord, undistractedly,

³⁶जर एखाद्याला असे वाटते की, तो त्याच्या कुमारिकेविषयी योग्य ते करीत नाही आणि जर त्याच्या भावना तीव्र आहेत, तर त्या दोघांनी पुढे होऊन लग्न करुन घेणे आवश्यक आहे. त्याला जे वाटते ते त्याने करावे.

³⁶and if any one doth think [it] to be unseemly to his virgin, if she may be beyond the bloom of age, and it ought so to be, what he willeth let him do; he doth not sin — let him marry.

³⁷तो पाप करीत नाही. त्याने लग्न करुन घ्यावे. परंतु जो स्वत: मनाचा खंबीर आहे व जो कोणत्याही दडपणाखाली नाही पण ज्याचा स्वत:च्या इच्छेवर ताबा आहे. व ज्याने आपल्या मनात विचार केला आहे की आपल्या कुमारिकेला ती जशी आहे तशीच ठेवावी म्हणजे तिच्याशी विवाह करु नये, तर तो चांगले करतो.

³⁷And he who hath stood stedfast in the heart — not having necessity — and hath authority over his own will, and this he hath determined in his heart — to keep his own virgin — doth well;

³⁸म्हणून जो कुमारिकेशी लग्न करतो तो चांगले करतो पण जो तिच्याशी लग्न करीत नाही तो अधिक चांगले करील.

³⁸so that both he who is giving in marriage doth well, and he who is not giving in marriage doth better.

³⁹पति जिवंत आहे तोपर्यंत स्त्री लग्नाने बांधलेली आहे, पण तिचा पति मेला तर तिला पाहिजे त्याच्याशी परंतु केवळ प्रभूमध्ये लग्न करण्यास ती मोकळी आहे.

³⁹A wife hath been bound by law as long time as her husband may live, and if her husband may sleep, she is free to be married to whom she will — only in the Lord;

⁴⁰परंतु माझ्या मते ती आहे तशीच राहिली तर ती अधिक सुखी होईल आणि मला असे वाटते की, मलाही प्रभूचा आत्मा आहे.

⁴⁰and she is happier if she may so remain — according to my judgment; and I think I also have the Spirit of God.
