¹म्हणून, विश्वास धरणारे पुष्कळ ढगांसारखे साक्षीदार सभोवती असल्याने आपल्याला अडथळा आणणाऱ्या सर्व गोष्टी तसेच सहजासहजी गुंतविणारे पाप आपण दूर फेकू या व जी शर्यत आपल्यासमोर आहे ती शर्यत आपण चिकाटीने पूर्ण करू.

¹Therefore, we also having so great a cloud of witnesses set around us, every weight having put off, and the closely besetting sin, through endurance may we run the contest that is set before us,

²जो आमचे विश्वासात नेतृत्व करतो आणि पूर्णत्वास नेतो त्या येशूवर आपले लक्ष केंद्रित करू या. जो आनंद त्याच्यासमोर होता त्यासाठी येशूने वधस्तंभ सहन केला होता. वधस्तंभावरील निंदास्पद मरणाला त्याने तुच्छ मानले आणि आता त्याने देवाच्या सिंहासनाजवळील उजवीकडे जागा घेतली आहे.

²looking to the author and perfecter of faith — Jesus, who, over-against the joy set before him — did endure a cross, shame having despised, on the right hand also of the throne of God did sit down;

³तुम्ही खचून जाऊ नये आणि धीर सोडू नये म्हणून पापी लोकांचा मोठ्या प्रमाणातील विरोध सहन कला. त्याचा विचार करा.

³for consider again him who endured such gainsaying from the sinners to himself, that ye may not be wearied in your souls — being faint.

⁴पापाविरुद्धच्या तुमच्या युद्धात तुम्ही रक्त सांडेपर्यंत अजून झगडा दिला नाही.

⁴Not yet unto blood did ye resist — with the sin striving;

⁵and ye have forgotten the exhortation that doth speak fully with you as with sons, `My son, be not despising chastening of the Lord, nor be faint, being reproved by Him,

⁶for whom the Lord doth love He doth chasten, and He scourgeth every son whom He receiveth;`

⁸and if ye are apart from chastening, of which all have become partakers, then bastards are ye, and not sons.

⁹याशिवाय आम्हा सर्वांना जगिक पिता असताना त्यांनी आम्हाला शिस्त लावली आणि त्याबद्दल आम्ही त्यांचा आदर राखला. तर मग आम्ही आमच्या आध्यात्मिक पित्याच्या किती तरी अधिक प्रमाणात अधीन होऊन जगले पाहिजे बरे?

⁹Then, indeed, fathers of our flesh we have had, chastising [us], and we were reverencing [them]; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of the spirits, and live?

¹⁰आमच्या मानवी वडिलांनी त्यांच्या दृष्टीने अती उत्तम अशी शिस्त थोड्या काळासाठी लावली. पण देव आम्हाला आमच्या चांगल्यासाठी शिस्त लावतो, यासाठी की, त्याच्या पवित्रपणात आपणही वाटेकरी व्हावे.

¹⁰for they, indeed, for a few days, according to what seemed good to them, were chastening, but He for profit, to be partakers of His separation;

¹¹शिक्षेने शिस्त लावण्याच्या वेळेस कोणतीही शिक्षा चांगली वाटत नाही, तर दु:खाची वाटते पण नंतर ज्या लोकांना शिस्तीचे धडे शिकायला मिळाले आहेत, त्यांना धर्मिकपणाच्या आणि शांतीच्या जीवनाची फळे चाखण्याची संधि मिळते.

¹¹and all chastening for the present, indeed, doth not seem to be of joy, but of sorrow, yet afterward the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those exercised through it — it doth yield.

¹²म्हणून तुमचे गळून गेलेले हात उंच करा आणि तुमचे अशक्त गुडघे बळकट करा!

¹²Wherefore, the hanging-down hands and the loosened knees set ye up;

¹³तुमच्या पावलांकरीता सरळ रस्ता तयार करा यासाठी की, लंगडे पाय निकामी होऊ नयेत, तर उलट ते बरे व्हावेत.

¹³and straight paths make for your feet, that that which is lame may not be turned aside, but rather be healed;

¹⁴सर्व लोकांबरोबर शांतीने राहण्याचा प्रयत्न करा व पवित्र जीवन जगण्याचा प्रयत्न करा. कारण त्याशिवाय (पवित्रतेेशिवाय) कोणालाही प्रभूला पाहता येणार नाही.

¹⁴peace pursue with all, and the separation, apart from which no one shall see the Lord,

¹⁵कोणीही देवाची कृपा चुकवू नये, यासाठी तिकडे लक्ष द्या आणि इकडे लक्ष द्या की, कोणतेही कडूपणाचे मूळ वाहून त्यापासून समस्या निर्माण होऊ नये व इतर लोकांची मने कलुषित करू नये, म्हणून जपा.

¹⁵looking diligently over lest any one be failing of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up may give trouble, and through this many may be defiled;

¹⁶कोणीही व्यभिचारी असू नये किंवा एका जेवणापायी आपला वडीलकीचा हक्क विकून टाकणाऱ्या एसावासारखे जगिक विचाराचे असू नये याकडे लक्ष द्या.

¹⁶lest any one be a fornicator, or a profane person, as Esau, who in exchange for one morsel of food did sell his birthright,

¹⁷नंतर तुम्हाला माहीत आहे जेव्हा त्याला वारसहक्काने आशीर्वाद अपेक्षित होता, तेव्हा तो नाकारण्यात आला. जरी त्याने रडून आशीर्वाद मिळविण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. तरी आपल्या वडिलाचे मन तो बदलू शकला नाही.

¹⁷for ye know that also afterwards, wishing to inherit the blessing, he was disapproved of, for a place of reformation he found not, though with tears having sought it.

¹⁸ज्या पर्वताला हाताने स्पर्श करता येतो; जो अग्नीच्या ज्वालांनी पेटलेला आहे, जो अंधार, दु:ख व वादळ यांनी भरलेला आहे. अशा पर्वताकडे तुम्ही आला नाही. तर एका नविन ठिकाणी आला आहात.

¹⁸For ye came not near to the mount touched and scorched with fire, and to blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

¹⁹कर्ण्याच्या आवाजाजवळ तुम्ही आला नाहीत किंवा शब्द उच्चारणाऱ्याच्या वाणी याजवळ तुम्ही आला नाही. असा आवाज ज्यानी ऐकला त्यानी अशी विनंती केली की, त्यांनी यापुढे आणखी वाणी ऐकवू नये.

¹⁹and a sound of a trumpet, and a voice of sayings, which those having heard did entreat that a word might not be added to them,

²⁰कारण ते जी आज्ञा केली होती सहन करू शकले नाहीत. “जर एखाद्या प्राण्याने जरी पर्वताला स्पर्श केला तरी त्याला दगडमार करण्यात यावा.”

²⁰for they were not bearing that which is commanded, `And if a beast may touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or with an arrow shot through,`

²¹खरोखर ते दृश्य इतके भयंकर होते की, मोशे म्हणाला, “भीतीमुळे मी थरथर कांपत आहे.”

²¹and, (so terrible was the sight,) Moses said, `I am fearful exceedingly, and trembling.`

²²परंतु तुम्ही सीनाय पर्वताजवळ जिवंत देवाच्या नगराजवळ आणि स्वर्गीय यरुशलेम येथे आलेले आहात आणि तुम्ही आनंदाने जमा झालेल्या हजारो देवदूतांजवळ आलेले आहात.

²²But, ye came to Mount Zion, and to a city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of messengers,

²³to the company and assembly of the first-born in heaven enrolled, and to God the judge of all, and to spirits of righteous men made perfect,

²⁴and to a mediator of a new covenant — Jesus, and to blood of sprinkling, speaking better things than that of Abel!

²⁵जो बोलतो त्याचे ऐकण्यासाठी नकार देऊ नका. त्याविषयी खात्री असू द्या. ज्याने पृथ्वीवर त्यांना सावध राहण्याविषयी सांगताना त्याचे ऐकायचे नाही असे ज्यांनी ठरविले ते लोक जर सुटू शकले नाहीत तर मग जो स्वर्गातून सावध करतो, त्याच्याकडे दुर्लक्ष केले तर आम्हाला सुटकेसाठी कोणता मार्ग राहीला बरे?

²⁵See, may ye not refuse him who is speaking, for if those did not escape who refused him who upon earth was divinely speaking — much less we who do turn away from him who [speaketh] from heaven,

²⁶त्यावेळेस त्याच्या आवाजाने भूमि हादरली पण आता त्याने असे अभिवचन दिले आहे की, “पुन्हा एकदा मी केवळ पृथ्वीच नव्हे तर आकाशही हादरवून टाकीन.”

²⁶whose voice the earth shook then, and now hath he promised, saying, `Yet once — I shake not only the earth, but also the heaven;`

²⁷“पुन्हा एकदा” हे शब्द हेच दर्शवितात की, ज्या गोष्टी उत्पन्र केलेल्या आहेत त्या काढून टाकण्यात येतील. ज्या गोष्टी हलविता येत नाहीत त्या तशाच राहतील.

²⁷and this — `Yet once` — doth make evident the removal of the things shaken, as of things having been made, that the things not shaken may remain;

²⁸म्हणून, आम्हाला अढळ असे राज्य देण्यात येत असताना आपण त्याविषयी कृतज्ञता बाळगू या, आणि आदराने व भयभीत होऊन देवाला मान्य होईल अशी त्याची उपासना करू. 29कारण आपला देव भस्म करणारा अग्नि आहे.

²⁸wherefore, a kingdom that cannot be shaken receiving, may we have grace, through which we may serve God well-pleasingly, with reverence and religious fear;

²⁹[This verse may not be a part of this translation]

²⁹for also our God [is] a consuming fire.
