1त्या वेळेस, यहुदात, लोक पुढील गाणे म्हणतील परमेश्वराने आम्हाला तारण दिले आहे. भक्कम तटबंदी व पुरेशी संरक्षणव्यवस्था असलेले आमचे शहर अभेद्द आहे.
1In that day sung is this song in the land of Judah: `We have a strong city, Salvation He doth make walls and bulwark.
2वेशी उघडा म्हणजे देवाची चांगली शिकवण मानणारे सज्जन लोक आत प्रवेश करतील.
2Open ye the gates, that enter may a righteous nation, Preserving stedfastness.
3परमेश्वरा, तुझ्यावर विसंबून असणाऱ्यांना आणि तुझ्यावर श्रध्दा ठेवणाऱ्यांना, तू खरी शांती देतोस.
3An imagination supported Thou fortifiest peace — peace! For in Thee it is confident.
4म्हणून नेहमी परमेश्वरावर विश्वास ठेवा, कारण परमेश्वर हा तुमच्यासाठी निरंतर सुरक्षित आसरा आहे.
4Trust ye in Jehovah for ever, For in Jah Jehovah [is] a rock of ages,
5पण परमेश्वर उद्दाम शहराचा नाश करील, आणि तेथील लोकांना शिक्षा करील. परमेश्वर ते मोठे शहर धुळीला मिळवील.
5For He bowed down the dwellers on high, A city set on high He maketh low, He maketh it low unto the earth, He causeth it to come unto the dust,
6नंतर दीनदुबळे त्याचे भग्नावशेष पायाखाली तुडवतील.
6Tread it down doth a foot, Feet of the poor — steps of the weak.
7प्रामाणिकपणा हे सज्जनांचे ब्रीद असते. सज्जन सत्याच्या सरळ मार्गाने जातात, आणि देवा तू तो मार्ग सुकर व सुलभ करतोस.
7The path for the righteous [is] uprightness, O upright One, The path of the righteous Thou dost ponder.
8पण परमेश्वरा, तू न्याय कसा करतोस ते बघण्यास आम्ही उत्सुक आहोत. आमचे आत्मे तुला व तुझ्या नांवाला कायम स्मरणात ठेवू इच्छितात.
8Also, [in] the path of Thy judgments, O Jehovah, we have waited [for] Thee, To Thy name and to Thy remembrance [Is] the desire of the soul.
9प्रत्येक रात्रीबरोबर तुझ्याशी एकरूप होण्याची आमची इच्छा आहे, आणि प्रत्येक पहाटेबरोबर माझ्यातील आत्मा तुझ्याशी समरस होऊ इच्छितो. जेव्हा तू न्याय देशील तेव्हा लोकांना जगण्याचा योग्य मार्ग सापडेल.
9[With] my soul I desired Thee in the night, Also, [with] my spirit within me I seek Thee earnestly, For when Thy judgments [are] on the earth, The inhabitants of the world have learned righteousness.
10पापी माणसावर तू फक्त दयाच करीत राहिलास तर तो कधीच सत्कृत्य करायला शिकणार नाही. वाईट माणूस चांगल्या लोकांत राहिला तरी वाईट गोष्टीच करील: दुष्टाला परमेश्वराची महानता कदाचित कधीच कळणार नाही.
10The wicked findeth favour, He hath not learned righteousness, In a land of straightforwardness he dealeth perversely, And seeth not the excellency of Jehovah.
11पण परमेश्वरा, तू त्यांना शिक्षा करण्यास तयार हो. नक्कीच ते हे पाहातील नाही का? परमेश्वरा, तुझ्या लोकांबद्दल असलेले तुझे भक्कम प्रेम तू पाप्यांना दाखव. मग ते नक्कीच खजील होतील. तुझे शत्रू नक्कीच त्यांच्याच आगीत भस्मसात होतील.
11O Jehovah, high [is] Thy hand — they see not, They see the zeal of the people, and are ashamed, Also, the fire — Thine adversaries, consumeth them.
12परमेश्वरा, आम्ही तडीस नेलेल्या सर्व गोष्टी तूच आमच्यासाठी केल्या आहेस तेव्हा आम्हाला शांती दे.
12O Jehovah, Thou appointest peace to us, For, all our works also Thou hast wrought for us.
13परमेश्वरा, तू आमचा देव आहेस. पूर्वी आम्ही इतर भोंदू देवांना अनुसरलो आम्ही त्यांना जवळ केले. पण आता लोकांनी फक्त तुझेच नाव घ्यावे असे आम्हाला वाटते.
13O Jehovah our God, lords have ruled us besides Thee, Only, by Thee we make mention of Thy name.
14ते मृत देव जीवंत होणार नाहीत. त्यांची भुते आता उठणार नाहीत. तू त्यांचा नाश करायचे ठरविलेस आणि त्यांची आठवण देणाऱ्या सर्व खाणाखुणा तू नष्ट केल्यास.
14Dead — they live not, Rephaim, they rise not, Therefore Thou hast inspected and dost destroy them, Yea, thou destroyest all their memory.
15तुझ्या आवडत्या राष्ट्राला तू मदत केलीस. इतर लोकांना त्या राष्ट्राचा पराभव करण्यापासून थांबविलेस.
15Thou hast added to the nation, O Jehovah, Thou hast added to the nation, Thou hast been honoured, Thou hast put far off all the ends of earth.
16परमेश्वरा, संकटात असताना लोक तुझे स्मरण करतात. तू शिक्षा केल्यास लोक मनात तुझा धावा करतात.
16O Jehovah, in distress they missed Thee, They have poured out a whisper, Thy chastisement [is] on them.
17परमेश्वरा, आम्ही तुझ्याबरोबर नाही. प्रसूति वेदना होऊन रडणाऱ्या स्त्रीसारखे आम्ही आहोत. ती वेदनेने विव्हळते.
17When a pregnant woman cometh near to the birth, She is pained — she crieth in her pangs, So we have been from Thy face, O Jehovah.
18त्याचप्रमाणे आम्हाल वेदना आहेत. आम्ही जन्म देतो पण तो फक्त वाऱ्याला. आम्ही जगासाठी नवीन लोक तयार करत नाही. आम्ही देशासाठी तारण आणत नाही.
18We have conceived, we have been pained. We have brought forth as it were wind, Salvation we do not work in the earth, Nor do the inhabitants of the world fall.
19परंतु परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “तुझे लोक मेले असले तरी जिवंत होतील. आमच्या माणसांचे मृतदेह सजीव होतील. मृतांनो, थडग्यातून उठा आणि आनंदित व्हा. तुमच्यावर पडलेले दव हे जणू नव्या दिवसाचा प्रकाश आहे. तो प्रकाश नवाकाळ येत आहे हे दाखवितो. मृत लोकांना आता जमिनीत पुरले आहे पण त्यांना नवजीवन मिळेल.”
19`Thy dead live — My dead body they rise. Awake and sing, ye dwellers in the dust, For the dew of herbs [is] thy dew, And the land of Rephaim thou causest to fall.
20माझ्या लोकांनो, आपापल्या खोल्यांत जा. दारे लावून घ्या. थोडा्या वेळ खोलीतच लपून बसा. देवाचा राग शांत होईपर्यंत लपून राहा.
20Come, My people, enter into thy inner chambers, And shut thy doors behind thee, Hide thyself shortly a moment till the indignation pass over.
21परमेश्वर दुष्कृत्यांबद्दल जगातील लोकांचा न्यायनिवाडा करण्यासाठी देव आपले स्थान सोडून येईल. मारल्या गेलेल्या लोकांचे रक्त पृथ्वी त्याला दाखवील.
21For, lo, Jehovah is coming out of His place, To charge the iniquity of the inhabitant of the earth upon him, And revealed hath the earth her blood, Nor doth she cover any more her slain!`
