1At that time, an affirmation of Jehovah, They bring the bones of the kings of Judah, And the bones of its princes, And the bones of the priests, And the bones of the prophets, And the bones of inhabitants of Jerusalem, Out of their graves,

2And have spread them to sun, and to moon, And to all the host of the heavens, that they have loved, And that they have served, And that they have walked after, And that they have sought, And to which they have bowed themselves, They are not gathered, nor buried, They are for dung on the face of the ground.
3“मी यहूदातील लोकांना सक्तीने त्यांची घरे व त्यांचा देश सोडायला लावीन. लोकांना परक्या प्रदेशात नेले जाईल. यहूदातील जे दुष्टलोक युध्दात मारले गेले नाहीत, त्यांना आपण मारले गेलो असतो तर बरे झाले असते असे वाटेल,” हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे.
3And chosen is death rather than life By all the remnant who are left of this evil family, In all the remaining places, whither I have driven them, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.
4यिर्मया, यहूदाच्या लोकांना हे सांग: परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो: “माणूस जमिनीवर पडल्यास पुन्हा उठतो व जर माणूस चुकीच्या मार्गाने गेला तर फिरुन मागे येतो, हे तुम्हाला माहीत आहे.
4And thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah, Do they fall, and not rise? Doth he turn back, and not return?
5यहूदाचे लोक चुकीच्या मार्गाने गेले (जगले) पण यरुशलेममधील लोक चुकीच्या मार्गाने सतत का जात आहेत? ते त्यांच्या गोष्टींवर विश्वास ठेवतात. ते वळून परत येण्याचे नाकारतात.
5Wherefore hath this people of Jerusalem Turned back — a perpetual backsliding? They have kept hold on deceit, They have refused to turn back.
6मी त्यांचे बोलणे लक्षपूर्वक ऐकले आहे. ते योग्य ते बोलत नाहीत. त्यांना त्यांच्या पापाबद्दल पश्र्चाताप वाटत नाही. त्यांनी केलेल्या वाईट कर्मांचा ते विचार करीत नाहीत. विचार केल्याशिवाय ते गोष्टी करतात. युद्धात दौडणाऱ्या घोड्यांसारखे ते आहेत.
6I have given attention, yea, I hearken, They do not speak right, No man hath repented of his wickedness, Saying, What have I done? Every one hath turned to his courses, As a horse is rushing into battle.
7आकाशात उडणाऱ्या पक्ष्यांनासुद्धा वेळेची योग्य जाणीव असते. करकोचे, पारवे, निळवी व सारस ह्यांना नवीन घरट्यात केव्हा यायचे ते समजते. पण माझ्या लोकांना, देवाला त्यांच्याकडून काय हवे आहे ते कळत नाही.
7Even a stork in the heavens hath known her seasons, And turtle, and swallow, and crane, Have watched the time of their coming, And — My people have not known the judgment of Jehovah.
8“आमच्याजवळ परमेश्वराची शिकवण आहे म्हणून आम्ही शहाणे आहोत!’ असे तुम्ही म्हणत राहता. पण ते खरे नाही. का? कारण लेखक लेखण्यांच्या साहाय्याने खोटे बोलले आहेत.
8How do ye say, We [are] wise, And the law of Jehovah [is] with us? Surely, lo, falsely it hath wrought, The false pen of scribes.
9त्या ‘शहाण्या लोकांनी’ परमेश्वराची शिकवण ऐकण्याचे नाकारले म्हणूनच ते अजिबात खरे शहाणे नाहीत. ते ‘शहाणे लोक’ सापळ्यात सापडले गेले. त्यांना धक्का बसला. त्यांची अप्रतिष्ठा झाली.
9Ashamed have been the wise, They have been affrighted, and are captured, Lo, against a word of Jehovah they kicked, And the wisdom of what — have they?
10म्हणून मी त्यांच्या बायका दुसऱ्यांना देईन. त्यांची शेते नव्या मालकांना देईन. इस्राएलमधल्या सर्व लोकांना जास्तीच जास्त पैसा पाहिजे. अती महत्वाचे व अति सामान्य सर्व सारखेच आहेत. संदेष्ट्यांपासून याजकांपर्यंत सर्व खोटे बोलतात.
10Therefore, I give their wives to others, Their fields to dispossessors, For from the least even unto the greatest, Every one is gaining dishonest gain, From prophet even unto priest, every one is dealing falsely.
11माझे लोक अतिशय वाईट रीतीने दुखावले जात आले आहेत. संदेष्ट्यांनी आणि याजकांनी त्यांच्या जखमा बांधाव्यात पण ते तर त्या जखमांवर, किरकोळ खरचटल्यावर करतात, त्याप्रमाणे इलाज करतात. ते म्हणतात, ‘ठीक आहे. ठीक आहेत.’ पण हे ठीक नाही.
11And they heal the breach of the daughter of my people slightly, Saying, Peace, peace! and there is no peace.
12संदेष्ट्यांना आणि याजकांना त्यांनी केलेल्या दुष्कृत्यांबद्दल लाज वाटली पाहिजे. पण त्यांना अजिबात लाज वाटत नाही. आपल्या दुष्कृत्यांची शरम वाटण्याएवढीही त्यांना जाणीव नाही. म्हणून बाकीच्यांबरोबर त्यांना शिक्षा होईल. मी जेव्हा लोकांना शिक्षा करीन तेव्हा हे सर्वजण जमिनीवर फेकले जातील. परमेश्वराने ह्या गोष्टी सांगितल्या.
12They were ashamed when they did abomination! Yea, they are not at all ashamed, And blushing they have not known, Therefore, they do fall among falling ones, In the time of their inspection they stumble, said Jehovah.
13“मी त्यांची फळे व पिके काढून घेईन. मग तेथे सुगीचा हंगाम होणार नाही. “हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे. “वेलीवंर एकही द्राक्ष नसेल. अंजिराच्या झाडांवर एकही अंजिर नसेल. एवढेच नाही तर झाडांची पानेही सुकतील व गळतील. मी त्यांना दिलेल्या गोष्टी काढून घेईन.
13I utterly consume them, an affirmation of Jehovah, There are no grapes in the vine, Yea, there are no figs in the fig-tree, And the leaf hath faded, And the strength they have passeth from them.
14“आपण येथे नुसतेच का बसलो आहोत? या भक्कम शहराकडे पळून जाऊ या, जर परमेश्वर आपला देव, आपल्याला मारणारच असेल तर आपण तेथेच मरु या. आपण परमेश्वराविरुद्ध वागून पाप केले. म्हणून देवाने आपल्याला विषारी पाणी प्यायला दिले.
14Wherefore are we sitting still? Be gathered, and we go in to the fenced cities, And we are silent there, For Jehovah our God hath made us silent, Yea, He causeth us to drink water of gall, For we have sinned against Jehovah.
15आम्ही शांतीची आशा केली पण आम्हाला काहीच चांगले मिळाले नाही. तो आम्हाला क्षमा करील असे आम्हाला वाटले पण अरिष्टच आले.
15Looking for peace — and there is no good, For a time of healing, and lo, terror.
16दानच्या कुळाच्या मालकीच्या भूमीवरुन येणाऱ्या शत्रूंच्या घोड्यांच्या फुरफुरण्याचा आवाज आम्ही ऐकतो. त्यांच्या खुरांच्या दणदणाटाने जमीन हादरते. ते ही भूमी व त्यावरील प्रत्येक गोष्टीचा नाश करण्यासाठी आले आहेत. ते नगराचा व त्यात राहणाऱ्या सर्व लोकांना नाश करण्यासाठी आले आहेत.
16From Dan hath been heard the snorting of his horses, From the voice of the neighings of his mighty ones, Trembled hath all the land, And they come in and consume the land and its fulness, The city and the inhabitants in it.
17“यहूदाच्या लोकांनो, मी विषारी सर्प तुमच्यावर हल्ला करण्यासाठी पाठवीत आहे. त्यांना आवरणे अशक्य आहे. ते तुम्हाला दंश करतील.” हा देवाकडून आलेला संदेश आहे.
17For, lo, I am sending among you serpents, Vipers that have no charmer, And they have bitten you, an affirmation of Jehovah.
18देवा मी फार दु:खी आहे. मी फार घाबरलो आहे.
18My refreshing for me [is] sorrow, For me my heart [is] sick.
19माझ्या लोकांचे रडणे ऐक. ह्या देशात सगळीकडे लोक मदतीसाठी आक्रोश करीत आहेत. ते म्हणतात, “परमेश्वर अजून सियोनला आहे का? सियोनचा राजा अजून तेथेच आहे का?” पण देव म्हणतो, “यहूदाच्या लोकांनी परक्या कवडीमोलाच्या मूर्तीची पूजा केली. त्याने मला खूप राग आला. त्यांनी असे का केले?
19Lo, the voice of a cry of the daughter of my people from a land afar off, Is Jehovah not in Zion? is her king not in her? Wherefore have they provoked Me with their graven images, With the vanities of a foreigner?
20लोक म्हणतात, “सुगीचा हंगाम संपला, उन्हाळा गेला, आणि तरीही आम्हाला वाचवण्यात आले नाही.”
20Harvest hath passed, summer hath ended, And we — we have not been saved.
21माझे लोक दुखावले म्हणजे मी दुखावलो. मी दु:खातिरेकाने बोलू शकत नाही.
21For a breach of the daughter of my people have I been broken, I have been black, astonishment hath seized me.
22गिलादमध्ये नक्कीच काही औषध आहे. तेथे नक्कीच वैद्य आहे. मग माझ्या लोकांच्या जखमा का भरुन येत नाहीत?
22Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? For wherefore hath not the health of the daughter of my people gone up?
