¹काही लोकांना इतरांभोवती राहायला आवडत नाही. त्यांना जे पाहिजे तेच ते करतात. आणि त्यांना जर कुणी उपदेश केला तर ते अस्वस्थ होतात.

¹For [an object of] desire he who is separated doth seek, With all wisdom he intermeddleth.

²मूर्खाला इतरांपासून शिकायची इच्छा नसते. त्याला फक्त स्वत:च्याच कल्पना सांगायच्या असतात.

²A fool delighteth not in understanding, But — in uncovering his heart.

³लोकांना वाईट माणूस आवडत नाही. लोक त्या मूर्खाची चेष्टा करतात.

³With the coming of the wicked come also hath contempt, And with shame — reproach.

⁴शहाण्या माणसाचे शब्द शहाणपणाच्या खोल विहिरीतून उसळून वर येणाऱ्या पाण्यासारखे असतात.

⁴Deep waters [are] the words of a man`s mouth, The fountain of wisdom [is] a flowing brook.

⁵लोकांचा न्यायनिवाडा करताना तुम्ही न्यायी असायला हवे. जर तुम्ही दोषी माणसाला सोडून दिले तर ते चांगल्या लोकांवर अन्याय केल्यासारखे होईल.

⁵Acceptance of the face of the wicked [is] not good, To turn aside the righteous in judgment.

⁶मूर्ख माणूस त्याच्या बोलण्यामुळे स्वत:वर संकट ओढवून घेतो. त्याचे शब्द भांडण सुरु करु शकतात.

⁶The lips of a fool enter into strife, And his mouth for stripes calleth.

⁷मूर्ख माणूस बोलतो तेव्हा स्वत:चाच नाश करुन घेतो. त्याचेच शब्द त्याला अडचणीत आणतात.

⁷The mouth of a fool [is] ruin to him, And his lips [are] the snare of his soul.

⁸लोकांना नेहमी अफवा ऐकायला आवडतात. ते पोटात जाणाऱ्या चांगल्या अन्नासारखे असते.

⁸The words of a tale-bearer [are] as self-inflicted wounds, And they have gone down [to] the inner parts of the heart.

⁹जो माणूस कामात ढिला आणि मंद असतो. तो त्या गोष्टींचा कामाचा नाश करणाऱ्या माणसाइतकाच वाईट असतो.

⁹He also that is remiss in his work, A brother he [is] to a destroyer.

¹⁰परमेश्वराच्या नावात खूप शक्ती आहे. तो बळकट बुरुजाप्रमाणे आहे. चांगले लोक त्यांच्याकडे जाऊ शकतात आणि सुरक्षित होतात.

¹⁰A tower of strength [is] the name of Jehovah, Into it the righteous runneth, and is set on high.

¹¹श्रीमंती आपले रक्षण करेल असे श्रीमंतांना वाटते. ती बळकट किल्ल्याप्रमाणे आहे असे त्यांना वाटते.

¹¹The wealth of the rich [is] the city of his strength, And as a wall set on high in his own imagination.

¹²गर्विष्ठ माणसाचा लवकरच नाश होईल. पण विनम्र माणसाचा गौरव होईल.

¹²Before destruction the heart of man is high, And before honour [is] humility.

¹³तुम्ही उत्तर देण्याचा प्रयत्न करण्यापूर्वी इतरांना त्यांचे बोलणे संपवू द्या. त्यामुळे तुम्ही गोंधळणार नाही आणि मूर्खही ठरणार नाही.

¹³Whoso is answering a matter before he heareth, Folly it is to him and shame.

¹⁴आजारपणात माणसाचे मन त्याला जिवंत ठेवू शकते. पण जर आता सारे काही व्यर्थ आहे असे त्याला वाटत असेल तर सारीच आशा संपते.

¹⁴The spirit of a man sustaineth his sickness, And a smitten spirit who doth bear?

¹⁵शहाण्या माणसाला नेहमी अधिक शिकायची इच्छा असते. तो माणूस नेहमी अधिक ज्ञान मिळवण्यासाठी लक्षपूर्वक ऐकत असतो.

¹⁵The heart of the intelligent getteth knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

¹⁶जर तुम्हाला महत्वाच्या माणसाला भेटायची इच्छा असेल तर त्याला नजराणा द्या. नंतर तुम्ही त्याला सहजपणे भेटू शकता.

¹⁶The gift of a man maketh room for him, And before the great it leadeth him.

¹⁷सुरुवातीला बोलणारा माणूस नेहमी बरोबर आहे असे तोपर्यंत वाटत असते, जोपर्यंत कुणीतरी येऊन त्याला प्रश्र विचारीत नाही.

¹⁷Righteous [is] the first in his own cause, His neighbour cometh and hath searched him.

¹⁸दोन बलवान माणसे वाद घातल असली तर तो वाद चिठ्ठ्या टाकून सोडवणे चांगले.

¹⁸The lot causeth contentions to cease, And between the mighty it separateth.

¹⁹जर तुम्ही मित्राचा अपमान केलात तर त्याला परत जिंकणे हे बळकट तटबंदी असलेले शहर जिंकण्यापेक्षा कठीण असते. आणि वादविवाद लोकांना एकमेकांपासून राजवाड्याच्या प्रवेशद्वारांवरील आडव्या बळकट खांबांइतके दूर नेतात.

¹⁹A brother transgressed against is as a strong city, And contentions as the bar of a palace.

²⁰तुम्ही जे बोलता त्याचा तुमच्या आयुष्यावर परिणाम होतो. जर तुम्ही चांगले बोललात तर तुमच्या बाबतीत चांगल्या गोष्टी घडतील. जर तुम्ही वाईट बोललात तर वाईट गोष्टी घडतील.

²⁰From the fruit of a man`s mouth is his belly satisfied, [From the] increase of his lips he is satisfied.

²¹जीवन किंवा मरणही देणारे शब्द जीभ बोलू शकते. आणि ज्यांना बोलायला आवडते त्यांनी त्यांच्या बोलण्याच्या परिणामाचा स्वीकार करायची तयारी ठेवली पाहिजे.

²¹Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue, And those loving it eat its fruit.

²²जर तुम्हाला बायको मिळाली, तर तुम्हाला चांगली गोष्ट मिळाली असे होईल. परमेवर तुमच्यावर खुश आहे असे ते दर्शवते.

²²[Whoso] hath found a wife hath found good, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.

²³गरीब माणूस मातीची भीक मागेल. पण श्रीमंत माणूस उत्तर देतानासुध्दा मग्रूर असतो.

²³[With] supplications doth the poor speak, And the rich answereth fierce things.

²⁴काही मित्रांबरोबर असणे आनंददायी असते. पण जवळचा मित्र भावापेक्षाही चांगला असतो.

²⁴A man with friends [is] to show himself friendly, And there is a lover adhering more than a brother!
