¹शांतपणे दिलेल्या उत्तरामुळे राग निघून जातो. पण तिखट उत्तरामुळे राग वाढतो.

²शहाणा माणूस बोलतो तेव्हा इतरांना ऐकावेसे वाटते. पण मूर्ख माणूस केवळ मूर्खताच बडबडतो.

²The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.

³सगळीकडे काय चालले आहे ते परमेश्वर बघतो. परमेश्वर सगळ्या माणसांना बघत असतो. चांगल्या आणि वाईट.

³Yahweh’s eyes are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

⁴दयेचे मायेचे शब्द म्हणजे जणू जीवनवृक्ष. पण खोट्या शब्दांमुळे माणसाची उमेद खचते.

⁴A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.

⁵मूर्ख माणूस त्याच्या वडिलांच्या उपदेशाकडे लक्ष देत नाही. पण जेव्हा लोक शहाण्या माणसाला शिकवण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात तेव्हा तो लक्षपूर्वक ऐकतो.

⁵A fool despises his father’s correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.

⁶चांगले लोक पुष्कळ बाबतीत श्रीमंत असतात. पण दुष्टाकडे ज्या गोष्टी असतात त्यामुळे त्याच्यावर संकटे येतात.

⁶In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.

⁷शहाणे लोक बोलतात तेव्हा नवीन माहिती मिळते. पण मूर्ख लोक ऐकण्यासारखे काही बोलत नाहीत.

⁷The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.

⁸दुष्ट माणसे ज्या गोष्टी अर्पण करतात त्या परमेश्वराला आवडत नाहीत. पण परमेश्वर चांगल्या माणसाची प्रार्थना ऐकून आनंदी होतो.

⁸The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

⁹दुष्ट लोक ज्या प्रकारे जगतात ते परमेश्वराला आवडत नाही. जे लोक सत्कृत्य करायचा प्रयत्न करतात त्यांच्यावर परमेश्वर प्रेम करतो.

⁹The way of the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.

¹⁰जर एखाद्या माणसाने चुकीने जगायला सुरुवात केली तर त्याला शिक्षा होईल. आणि ज्या माणसाला योग्य अयोग्य सांगितलेले आवडत नाही त्याचा नाश होईल.

¹⁰There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way: whoever hates reproof shall die.

¹¹परमेश्वराला सर्व माहीत असते. मृत्युलोकांत काय घडते ते देखील त्याला माहीत असते. म्हणून लोकांच्या मनात आणि हृदयात काय चालले आहे ते परमेश्वराला नक्कीच ठाऊक असेल.

¹¹ Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. and Abaddon are before Yahweh— how much more then the hearts of the children of men!

¹²मूर्खाला तो चुकत आहे हे सांगितलेले आवडत नाही. आणि तो माणूस शहाण्या माणसाला माहिती विचारायला नकार देतो.

¹²A scoffer doesn’t love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.

¹³माणूस जर आनंदी असला तर त्याच्या चेहऱ्यावर आनंद दिसेल. पण जर एखादा मनातून दु:खी असला तर त्याचा आत्मा ते दु:ख दाखवेल.

¹³A glad heart makes a cheerful face; but an aching heart breaks the spirit.

¹⁴शहाणा माणूस अधिक ज्ञान मिळवायता प्रयत्न करतो. पण मूर्खाला अधिक मूर्खताच हवी असते.

¹⁴The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.

¹⁵काही गरीब लोक नेहमी खिन्न असतात. पण मनातून आनंदी असलेल्या लोकांसाठी जीवन म्हणजे एक मोठा समारंभ असतो.

¹⁵All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.

¹⁶गरीब राहून परमेश्वराचा आदर करणे हे श्रीमंत होऊन खूप संकटे भोगण्यापेक्षा चांगले असते.

¹⁶Better is little, with the fear of Yahweh, than great treasure with trouble.

¹⁷प्रेम असते त्या ठिकाणी थोडेसे खाणे हे तिरस्कार असलेल्या ठिकाणी भरपूर खाण्यापेक्षा चांगले असते.

¹⁷Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.

¹⁸लवकर रागावणारे लोक संकटे आणतात. पण संयमी माणूस शांतता आणतो.

¹⁸A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.

¹⁹आळशी माणसाला सगळीकडे संकटे मिळतील पण इमानदार माणसासाठी आयुष्य सोपे असेल.

¹⁹The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.

²⁰शहाणा मुलगा त्याच्या वडिलांना सुखी करतो. पण मूर्ख माणूस त्याच्या आईला लाज आणतो.

²⁰A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.

²¹मूर्ख गोष्टी करण्यात मूर्खाला आनंद मिळतो. पण चांगला माणूस योग्य गोष्टी काळजीपूर्वक करतो.

²¹Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.

²²जर एखाद्याला पुरेशी माहिती मिळाली नाही तर त्याच्या योजना कोसळतील. पण जर एखाद्याने शहाण्या लोकांच्या बोलण्याकडे लक्ष दिले तर तो यशस्वी होईल.

²²Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.

²³चांगले उत्तर दिल्यावर माणूस आनंदी होतो. आणि योग्य वेळी योग्य शब्द फारच चांगला असतो.

²³Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!

²⁴शहाण्या माणसाने केलेली गोष्ट यशाकडे नेते आणि त्या गोष्टी त्याला मृत्यूकडे जाण्यापासून वाचवतात.

²⁴The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. .

²⁵गर्विष्ठ माणसाकडे असलेल्या सगळ्या गोष्टींचा परमेश्वर नाश करील. पण विधवेकडे असलेल्या गोष्टीचे परमेश्वर रक्षण करतो.

²⁵Yahweh will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow’s borders intact.

²⁶परमेश्वराला दुष्ट विचार आवडत नाहीत. पण परमेश्वर मायेच्या शब्दांनी आनंदी होतो.

²⁶Yahweh detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.

²⁷जर एखद्याने काही वस्तू मिळवण्यासाठी फसवणूक केली तर तो त्याच्या कुटुंबावर संकटे आणतो. पण जर एखादा माणूस खरा असला आणि लाच घेण्याविषयी त्याच्या मनात घृणा असेल तर तो जगू शकेल.

²⁷He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.

²⁸चांगले लोक उत्तर देण्याआधी विचार करतात. पण दुष्ट लोक विचार करण्याआधी बोलतात आणि त्यामुळे त्यांच्यावर संकटे येतात.

²⁸The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.

²⁹परमेश्वर दुष्टांपासून खूप दूर आहे. पण तो चांगल्या माणसांच्या प्रार्थना नेहमी ऐकतो.

²⁹Yahweh is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

³⁰जो माणूस हसतो तो इतरांना आनंद देतो आणि चांगली बातमी ऐकून लोकांना अधिक चांगले वाटते.

³⁰The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.

³¹जो माणूस त्याचे चुकते आहे असे सांगितल्यावर ऐकतो तो शहाणा असतो.

³¹The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.

³²जर एखाद्याने शिकायला नकार दिला तर तो स्वत:लाच इजा करुन घेतो. तू चुकतो आहेस असे सांगितलेले जो ऐकून घेतो तो अधिकाधिक गोष्टी समजू शकतो.

³²He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.

³³जो माणूस परमेश्वराचा आदर करतो तो शहाणे व्हायला शिकतो. परमेश्वराचा आदर करण्यासाठी माणसाने खरोखरच विनम्र व्हायला हवे.

³³The fear of Yahweh teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.
