¹परमप्रभुको वचन मकहाँ आयो,

¹`And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:

²“तिमीहरूले इस्राएलको भूमिमा बस्ने मानिसहरूको विषयमा यो उखान दोहर्याइरहेका छौ। तिमी भन्छौ; आमा-बाबुहरूले अमिलो अङ्गुर खाए, तर नानीहरूले अमिलो स्वाद पाए।

²`What — to you, ye — using this simile Concerning the ground of Israel, saying: Fathers do eat unripe fruit, And the sons` teeth are blunted?

³तर परमप्रभु मेरा मालिक भन्नुहुन्छ, “म आफ्नो जीवनको शपथ खाएर प्रतिज्ञा गर्छु कि इस्राएलका मानिस अब भविष्यमा यो उखानलाई कहिल्यै साँचो सम्झँदैनन्!

³I live — an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Ye have no more the use of this simile in Israel.

⁴म सबै मनिसहरूलाई एउटै व्यवहार गर्छु। यो महत्वपूर्ण हुँदैन कि त्यो आमा-बाबु होस् अथवा सन्तान। जसले पाप गर्छन् ती मानिसहरू मर्नेछन्!

⁴Lo, all the souls are Mine, As the soul of the father, So also the soul of the son — they are Mine, The soul that is sinning — it doth die.

⁵“यदि कोही मानिस राम्रो हुन चाहन्छ भने उसलाई जुन न्याय र सही छ त्यो गर्न देऊ।

⁵And a man, when he is righteous, And hath done judgment and righteousness,

⁶त्यो धर्मी मानिस पहाडमाथि जाँदैन अनि असत्य देवताहरूलाई चढाएको खानाबाट कुनै भाग पनि बाँढ्दैन। त्यो इस्राएलको नराम्रो देवताहरूको मूर्तिहरूको स्तुति गर्दैन। उसले आफ्नो छिमेकीको पत्नीसँग व्यभिचारको पाप गर्दैन्। उसले आफ्नो पत्नीसँग उसको रजस्वलाको समयमा शारीरिक सम्बन्ध राख्दैन।

⁶On the mountains he hath not eaten, And his eyes he hath not lifted up Unto idols of the house of Israel, And the wife of his neighbour defiled not, And to a separated woman cometh not near,

⁷असल मानिसले मानिसहरूबाट लाभ उठाउँदैन्। यदि कसैले उदेखि ऋण लिन्छ भने उसले बन्धक राखेर ऋण दिन्छ र ऋणी मानिसले ऋण चुक्ता गर्दा बन्धकी फकाई दिन्छ। राम्रो मानिसले भोको मानिसहरूलाई खाना दिन्छ अनि नाङ्गो मानिसहरूलाई लुगा दिन्छ।

⁷A man — he doth not oppress, His pledge to the debtor he doth return, Plunder he doth not take away, His bread to the hungry he doth give, And the naked doth cover with a garment,

⁸यदि कसैले ऋण लिनु चाह्यो भने राम्रो मानिसले उसलाई ऋण दिन्छ, उसले त्यो ऋणको ब्याज लिंदैन। राम्रो मानिस कुटिल हुनु सक्तैन। उ प्रत्येक मानिससँग राम्रो व्यवहार गर्छ, उसलाई मानिसहरूले विश्वास गर्छन्।

⁸In usury he doth not give, and increase taketh not, From perversity he turneth back his hand, True judgment he doth between man and man.

⁹उ मेरो विधिहरूको पालन गर्छ। उसले मेरो निर्णयहरू सम्झन्छ अनि राम्रो एवं विश्वासनीय हुन सिक्छ। किनकि उ राम्रो मानिस हो, यसकारण उ जीवित रहन्छ।

⁹In My statutes he doth walk, And My judgments he hath kept — to deal truly, Righteous [is] he, he surely liveth, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

¹⁰“तर त्यस मानिसको कुनै छोरा यस्तो हुन सक्छ, जो ती राम्रो कामहरूमध्ये कुनै पनि गर्दैन। त्यसले चीजहरू चोर्न सक्छ तथा मानिसहरूको हत्या गर्न सक्छ।

¹⁰And — he hath begotten a son, A burglar — a shedder of blood, And he hath made a brother of one of these,

¹¹छोरोले यी नराम्रो कामहरूमध्ये कुनै पनि काम गर्न सक्छ। उ पहाडहरूमा जान सक्छ अनि झूटो देवताहरूलाई चढाएको भोजनबाट हिस्सा बाँड्न सक्छ। त्यो पापी छोरोले आफ्नो छिमेकोको पत्नीसँग व्यभिचार कर्म गर्न सक्छ।

¹¹And he all those hath not done, For even on the mountains he hath eaten, And the wife of his neighbour he hath defiled,

¹²उसले गरीब र असहाय मानिससँग नराम्रो व्यवहार गर्न सक्छ। उसले मानिससँग अनुचित लाभ उठाउन सक्छ। उसले बन्धक राखेको बस्तु ऋण चुक्ता भइसक्दा पनि नफर्काउन सक्छ। त्यो पापी छोरोले नराम्रो मूर्तिहरूसित प्रार्थना गर्न सक्छ अथवा अर्को डरलाग्दो पाप पनि गर्न सक्छ।

¹²The afflicted and needy he hath oppressed, Plunder he hath taken violently away, A pledge he doth not return, And unto the idols he hath lifted up his eyes, Abomination he hath done!

¹³कुनै मानिसलाई त्यो पापी छोरोबाट ऋण लिने आश्यकता पर्न सक्छ, तर ऊ त्यो मानिसलाई ऋणको ब्याज तिर्नु बाध्य पार्छ। यसकारण त्यो पापी छोरो जीवित रहँदैन। उसले भयंकर पाप गर्यो। यसकारण त्यो मारिन सक्छ अनि आफ्नो मृत्युको निम्ति स्वंय उत्तरदायी हुन्छ।

¹³In usury he hath given, and increase taken, And he liveth: he doth not live, All these abominations he hath done, He doth surely die, his blood is on him.

¹⁴“सम्भवत त्यो पापी छोरोको पनि एउटा छोरा हुनुसक्छ। तर यो छोरोले आफ्नो बाबुद्वारा गरिएको पाप कर्महरू देख्न सक्छ अनि ऊ आफ्नो बाबु जस्तै हुन मान्दैन। राम्रो मानिसले मानिसहरूसित राम्रो व्यवहार गर्छ।

¹⁴And — lo, he hath begotten a son, And he seeth all the sins of his father, That he hath done, and he feareth, And doth not do like them,

¹⁵त्यो मानिस पहाडहरूमा जाँदैन्, झूटो देवताहरूलाई चढाएको खानामा भाग लिँदैन। त्यसले इस्राएलको झूटो मूर्तिहरू सित प्रार्थना गर्दैन। ऊ आफ्नो छिमेकीको पत्नीसँग व्यभिचारी पाप गर्दैन्।

¹⁵On the mountains he hath not eaten, And his eyes he hath not lifted up Unto idols of the house of Israel, The wife of his neighbour he hath not defiled,

¹⁶त्यो राम्रो छोराले मानिसहरूबाट अनुचित लाभ उठाउँदैन्। यदि कुनै मानिसले उसबाट ऋण लियो भने त्यो राम्रो मानिसले चीज बन्धक राख्छ अनि त्यस मानिसलाई ऋण दिन्छ अनि जब त्यो मानिसले ऋण भुक्तान गर्छ त्यतिबेला त्यो राम्रो मानिसले बन्धक राखेको चीज फर्काउँछ। राम्रो मानिसले भोकाएकोलाई भोजन दिन्छ अनि तिनीहरूलाई वस्त्र पनि दिन्छ जसलाई त्यसको आवश्यकता छ।

¹⁶A man — he hath not oppressed, A pledge he hath not bound, And plunder he hath not taken away, His bread to the hungry he hath given, And the naked he covered with a garment,

¹⁷उसले गरीबलाई सहायता गर्छा यदि कुनै मानिस ऋण लिन चाहन्छ भने त्यो राम्रो छोरोले ऋण दिन्छ अनि उसले त्यसको ब्याज लिँदैन। राम्रो छोराले मेरो नियमहरू पालन गर्छ अनि मेरो नियमहरू अनुसार चल्छ। त्यो राम्रो छोरा आफ्नो आमा बाबुको पापले मर्दैन। त्यो राम्रो छोरा बाँचिरहन्छ।

¹⁷From the afflicted he hath turned back his hand, Usury and increase he hath not taken, My judgments he hath done, In My statutes he hath walked, He doth not die for the iniquity of his father, He doth surely live.

¹⁸उसको बाबुले मानिसहरूबाट फाइदा उठाउन सक्छ अनि तिनीहरूहबाट चीजहरू पनि चोर्न सक्छ। उसले केही राम्रो काम गर्न सक्तैन्। किनभने त्यो बाबु आफ्नो पापहरूले गर्दा मर्छ। तर छोरोलाई उसको बाबुको पापको निम्ति दण्ड दिनु हुदैन।

¹⁸His father — because he used oppression, Did violently Plunder a brother, And that which [is] not good did in the midst of his people, And lo, he is dying in his iniquity.

¹⁹“तिमी सोध्न सक्छौ, ‘छोराले बाबुको पापहरूका निम्ति किन दण्डदायी हुँदैन?’ यसको कारण यो हो कि छोरा राम्रो छ अनि उसले राम्रो काम गरेकोछ! उसले एकदमै सावधानीसँग मेरो नियमहरू पालन गरेको छ। यसकारण उ बाँचिरहन्छ।

¹⁹And ye have said, Wherefore hath not the son, Borne of the iniquity of the father? And — the son judgment and righteousness hath done, All My statutes he hath kept, And he doeth them, he surely liveth.

²⁰जुन मानिसले पाप गर्छ, त्यही मानिस मारिन्छ। एउटा छोरो आफ्नो बाबुको पापले दण्डित हुँदैन। अनि अर्को बाबु आफ्नो छोरोको पापको लागि दण्ड पाउँदैन। एउटा धर्मी मानिसको धार्मिकता केवल उसको निजी हुन्छ अनि नराम्रो गरेको फल पनि उसकै मात्र हुन्छ।

²⁰The soul that doth sin — it doth die. A son doth not bear of the iniquity of the father, And a father doth not bear of the iniquity of the son, The righteousness of the righteous is on him, And the wickedness of the wicked is on him.

²¹“यस्तो स्थितिमा यदि कुनै नराम्रो मानिसले आफ्नो जीवन क्रम परिर्वतन गर्छ भने त्यो बाँच्नेछ। पाप कर्म छोडे पछि त्यो मानिस मर्दैन। त्यसले धेरै सावधानीसँग मेरो विधिहरू पालन गर्न आरम्भ गर्ने गर्छ। ऊ न्यायशील अनि राम्रो हुन सक्छ।

²¹And the wicked — when he turneth back From all his sins that he hath done, And he hath kept all My statutes, And hath done judgment and righteousness, He doth surely live, he doth not die.

²²परमेश्वरले उसले गरेको सबै पापहरू याद राख्नु हुँदैन। परमेश्वरले केवल उसको धार्मिकता मात्र याद राख्नु हुन्छ, यसकारण त्यो मानिस जीवित रहन्छ।”

²²All his transgressions that he hath done Are not remembered to him, In his righteousness that he hath done he liveth.

²³परमप्रभु मेरो मालिक भन्नुहुन्छ, “म नराम्रो मानिसहरू मर्न दिन चहाँदिन। म तिनीहरू आफ्नो जीवनको दुष्ट चालबाट फर्केको चाहन्छु ताकि तिनीहरू बाँच्न सकुन्।

²³Do I at all desire the death of the wicked? An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Is it not in his turning back from his way — And he hath lived?

²⁴“यस्तो पनि हुन सक्छ कि राम्रो मानिस राम्रो रहन छोडन सक्छ। ऊ आफ्नो जीवन बद्लिन सक्छ अनि त्यो डरलाग्दा पापहरू गर्न आरम्भ गर्न सक्छ जुन नराम्रा मानिसहरूले भूतकालमा गरे। यसकारण त्यो राम्रो मानिस बदलिएर नराम्रो बनियो भने परमेश्वरले त्यस मानिसले गरेको राम्रो कामहरू याद राख्नुहुन्न। परमेश्वरले यही याद राख्नुहुनेछ कि त्यो मानिस उसको विरूद्ध गयो अनि उसले पाप गर्न थाल्यो। यसैकारण त्यो मानिस आफ्नो पापको कारण मर्नेछ।”

²⁴And in the turning back of the righteous from his righteousness, And he hath done perversity, According to all the abominations That the wicked hath done, he doth — thus he liveth, All his righteousnesses that he hath done are not remembered, For his trespass that he hath trespassed, And for his sin that he hath sinned, For them he doth die.

²⁵परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “तिमीले भन्न सक्छौ कि ‘परमेश्वर हाम्रो मालिक न्यायपूर्ण हुनुहुन्न।’ तर हे इस्राएलका परिवारहरू सुन! मेरो मार्गहरू अन्याय संगत छैन। तिमीहरूकै मार्गहरू अन्याय संगत छन्।

²⁵And ye have said, Not pondered is the way of the Lord. Hear, I pray you, O house of Israel, My way — is it not pondered? Are not your ways unpondered?

²⁶यदि एउटा धर्मी मानिस बद्लिन्छ अनि पापी बनिन्छ भने उसले आफूले गरेको नराम्रो कामको कारण मर्नु पर्छ।

²⁶In the turning back of the righteous from his righteousness, And he hath done perversity, And he is dying by them, for his perversity That he hath done he dieth.

²⁷यदि कुनै पापी बद्लिन्छ अनि राम्रो तथा न्याय-प्रिय बनिन्छ भने उसले आफ्नो प्राण बँचायो! उ जीवित बाँच्छ!

²⁷And in the turning back of the wicked From his wickedness that he hath done, And he doth judgment and righteousness, He his soul doth keep alive.

²⁸त्यो मानिसले देख्यो कि ऊ कति नराम्रो थियो अनि मकहाँ आयो। उसले ती नराम्रो पापहरू गर्न छोडिदियो जुन उसले भूतकालमा गरेको थियो यसकारण ऊ बाँच्नेछ। ऊ मर्नेछैन!”

²⁸And he seeth and turneth back, From all his transgressions that he hath done, He doth surely live, he doth not die,

²⁹इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले भने, “परमप्रभु हाम्रा मालिक न्यायपूर्ण हुनुहुन्न।” परमेश्वरले भन्नुभयो, “मेरा मार्गहरू अन्यायी छैनन्। यो त तिमीहरूका मार्गहरू हुन जुन न्याय सङ्गत छैनन्।

²⁹And the house of Israel have said, Not pondered is the way of the Lord, My ways — are they not pondered? O house of Israel — are not your ways unpondered?

³⁰किन? किनकि इस्राएलको परिवारलाई, म प्रत्येक मानिससँग त्यही प्रकारले न्याय गर्नेछु जस्तो त्यो मानिसले कर्म गर्ने छ।” परमप्रभु मेरो मालिकले यी कुराहरू भन्नुभयो “यसकारण मसित आऊ! पाप गर्न छोड! ती डरलाग्दा चीजहरूले (मूर्ति) तिमीलाई पाप गर्नु नलावोस्। 31ती सबै डरलाग्दा चीजहरू जुन तिमीले बनायौ, फ्याँकि देऊ, तिनीहरूले तिमीलाई खाली पाप गराउँछ। आफ्नो हृदय र आत्मा बद्लिगर! इस्राएलका मानिसहरू, तिमी आफूलाई किन मर्न दिन चाहन्छौ?

³⁰Therefore, each according to his ways I judge you, O house of Israel? An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Turn ye back, yea, turn yourselves back, From all your transgressions, And iniquity is not to you for a stumbling-block,

³¹म तिमीलाई मार्न चाहदिन्। दया गरि फर्केर आऊ अनि बाँच!” यो सबै कुरा परमप्रभु मेरो मालिकले भन्नुभयो।

³¹Cast from off you all your transgressions, By which ye have transgressed, And make to you a new heart, and a new spirit, And why do ye die, O house of Israel?

³²For I have no pleasure in the death of the dying, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And turn ye back and live!
