¹साँझमा दुइजना स्वर्गदूतहरू सदोम शहरमा आए। त्यस बेला लूत सदोमको फाटकमा बसिरहेका थिए। लूतले स्वर्गदूतलाई देखेर भेट्न गए। तब लूतले तिनीहरूको सामुन्ने निहुरेर दण्डवत् गरे।

¹And two of the messengers come towards Sodom at even, and Lot is sitting at the gate of Sodom, and Lot seeth, and riseth to meet them, and boweth himself — face to the earth,

²तिनले भने, “महाशय, कृपा गरी तपाईंहरूको दासको घरमा गई हात पाऊ धोई रात त्यही बिताउनु होस् र बिहान चाँडै उठी आफ्नो स्थानको लागि बाटोतर्फ प्रस्थान गर्नु होस्।” ती स्वर्गदूतहरूले भने, “अहँ हामी बाटोमै रात बिताउनेछौं।”

²and he saith, `Lo, I pray you, my lords, turn aside, I pray you, unto the house of your servant, and lodge, and wash your feet — then ye have risen early and gone on your way;` and they say, `Nay, but in the broad place we do lodge.`

³तर लूतले तिनीहरूलाई आफ्नो घर लैजान अत्यन्तै बिन्ती गरे, यसर्थ स्वर्गदूतहरू लूतको घरमा गए। तब लूतले स्वर्गदूतहरूको निम्ति खाना तयार गरे अनि खमीर नहालेको रोटी बनाए र तिनीहरूले खाए।

³And he presseth on them greatly, and they turn aside unto him, and come in unto his house; and he maketh for them a banquet, and hath baked unleavened things; and they do eat.

⁴तिनीहरू सुत्न जानुअधि सदोम शहरका सबै मानिसहरू आएर लूतको घर घेरे।

⁴Before they lie down, the men of the city — men of Sodom — have come round about against the house, from young even unto aged, all the people from the extremity;

⁵तिनीहरूले उनलाई बोलाए अनि भने, “राती तिम्रो घरमा आएका दुइ मानिसहरू कहाँ छन्? तिनीहरूलाई बाहिर हामी भएकोमा ल्याऊ जसले गर्दा तिनीहरूसित हामी संभोग गर्न चाहन्छौं।”

⁵and they call unto Lot and say to him, `Where [are] the men who have come in unto thee to-night? bring them out unto us, and we know them.`

⁶तब लूत बाहिर निस्केर घरको ढोका लगाए।

⁶And Lot goeth out unto them, to the opening, and the door hath shut behind him,

⁷त्यसपछि उनले भने, “हे मेरा साथीहरू, कृपा गरी तिनीहरूसित नराम्रो व्यवहार नगर।

⁷and saith, `Do not, I pray you, my brethren, do evil;

⁸सुन, कुनै पुरूषसित सहवास नगरेका मेरो दुइ जना छोरीहरू छन्। म तिमीहरूलाई सुम्पिदिनेछु र आफ्नो इच्छा अनुसार जे गर्न मन लाग्छ तिनीहरूसित गर। तर यी मानिसहरू जो मेरो घरमा आएका छन् तिनीहरूलाई केही नगर, तिनीहरूको रक्षा मैले गर्नु नै पर्छ।”

⁸lo, I pray you, I have two daughters, who have not known any one; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do to them as [is] good in your eyes; only to these men do not anything, for therefore have they come in within the shadow of my roof.`

⁹घेरेका मानिसहरूले भने, “हामीलाई बाटो देऊ! हाम्रो बाटोबाट पर सर।” तब सदोमका ती मानिसहरूले भने, “यी मानिस हाम्रो शहरमा पाहुना भएर आएका हुन् अनि अहिले हाम्रो न्यायाधीश यी को हुन? अब हामी तिमीसित तिनीहरूसित भन्दा अशिष्ट व्यवहार गर्ने छौं।” त्यो भीडले लूतमाथि एकसाथ घचेटेर ढोका भत्काएर खोल्ने चेष्टा गरे।

⁹And they say, `Come nigh hither;` they say also, `This one hath come in to sojourn, and he certainly judgeth! now, we do evil to thee more than [to] them;` and they press against the man, against Lot greatly, and come nigh to break the door.

¹⁰तब ती भित्र भएका मानिसहरूले ढोका उघारे र लूतलाई भित्र ताने र ढोका थुने।

¹⁰And the men put forth their hand, and bring in Lot unto them, into the house, and have shut the door;

¹¹त्यसपछि तिनीहरूले ती बाहिर घर घेरेर बस्ने सबै बूढा-जवानहरूलाई अन्धा बनाइ दिए। तब तिनीहरूले ढोका खोल्न असमर्थ भए।

¹¹and the men who [are] at the opening of the house they have smitten with blindness, from small even unto great, and they weary themselves to find the opening.

¹²तब ती भित्र भएका दुइजना मानिसहरूले लूतलाई भने, “तिम्रो घरमा अरू कोही मानिसहरू छन्? तिम्रा ज्वाँईहरू, छोरा-छोरीहरू अनि जो पनि यस शहरमा छन् भने तिनीहरूलाई शहर छोडनु भनीदेऊ,

¹²And the men say unto Lot, `Whom hast thou here still? son-in-law, thy sons also, and thy daughters, and all whom thou hast in the city, bring out from this place;

¹³शहर छोड, किनभने हामी यसलाई नाश गर्न लागेका छौं। परमप्रभुलाई यो थाह भएकोछ यो शहर दुष्टहरूले भरिएको छ अनि उहाँले हामीलाई यो शहर नाश गर्न पठाउनु भएको छ।”

¹³for we are destroying this place, for their cry hath been great [before] the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah doth send us to destroy it.`

¹⁴तब लूत बाहिर गए अनि आफ्नो ज्वाँईहरूलाई भने, “उठ अनि यो शहर छोडिदेऊ किनभने परमप्रभुले यस शहरलाई नष्ट पार्नु हुँदैछ।” तर उसका ज्वाँईहरूले सोचे उनी ठट्टा गरिरहेका छन्।

¹⁴And Lot goeth out, and speaketh unto his sons-in-law, those taking his daughters, and saith, `Rise, go out from this place, for Jehovah is destroying the city;` and he is as [one] mocking in the eyes of his sons-in-law.

¹⁵अर्को बिहानै उज्यालो हुन लाग्दा ती स्वर्गदूतहरूले लूतलाई चाँडो गर्न लगाए। तिनीहरूले भने, “हेर, यो शहरलाई दण्ड दिइन्छ। यसर्थ तिम्री पत्नी अनि छोरीहरू जो यहाँ छन् तिनीहरूलाई लिएर शहरबाहिर जाऊ। यसो गरे तिमीहरू यो शहरसितै नष्ट हुने छैनौ।”

¹⁵And when the dawn hath ascended, then the messengers press upon Lot, saying, `Rise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters who are found present, lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.`

¹⁶तर लूतले शहर छोड्न आनाकानी गरे। उनी दोमनमा परे। यसर्थ दुइजना स्वर्गदूतले उनलाई, उनकी पत्नी र छोरीहरूलाई आफ्नो हातले समाते अनि उनीहरूलाई सुराक्षित ठाउँमा लगे। परमप्रभु लूत अनि उनको परिवारप्रति दयालु हुनुहुन्थ्यो।

¹⁶And he lingereth, and the men lay hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, through the mercy of Jehovah unto him, and they bring him out, and cause him to rest without the city.

¹⁷यसर्थ ती दुइ स्वर्गदूतहरुले लूत र उनको परिवारलाई शहरदेखि बाहिर पुर्याए। तिनीहरू शहरबाहिर आएपछि एकजना स्वर्गदूतले भने, “अब तिमीहरूले शहरतिर फकेर्र नहेर्नु, जीवन सुरक्षाको निम्ति भाग, अनि कुनै ठाउँमा पनि नथामिनु बेंसीमा कतै पनि नअडिनु। जबसम्म पर्वतमा पुग्दैनौ तिमीहरू भाग यदि थामियौ भने तिमीहरू शहरसितै नष्ट हुनेछौ।”

¹⁷And it cometh to pass when he hath brought them out without, that he saith, `Escape for thy life; look not expectingly behind thee, nor stand thou in all the circuit; to the mountain escape, lest thou be consumed.`

¹⁸तर लूतले ती दुई स्वर्गदूतहरुलाई भने, “महाशयहरू हो, यति टाडासम्म भाग्न मलाई कर नलगाउनु होस्।

¹⁸And Lot saith unto them, `Not [so], I pray thee, my lord;

¹⁹म तपाईंको दासप्रति तपाईंहरू मेरो बचाऊको निम्ति अत्यन्तै दयालु हुनुहुन्छ। तर म यहाँदेखि पर्वतसम्म भागेर जान सक्तिन। यदि म अत्यन्तै ढिलो भएर पर्वतमा पुग्नु नसकेर केही हुनु गएँ भने? म मर्ने छु।

¹⁹lo, I pray thee, thy servant hath found grace in thine eyes, and thou dost make great thy kindness which thou hast done with me by saving my life, and I am unable to escape to the mountain, lest the evil cleave [to] me, and I have died;

²⁰हेर्नुहोस्! यस ठाउँको नजिकै एउटा एकदमै सानो शहर छ र मलाई त्यहाँसम्म मात्र जानु दिनुहोस्। म त्यस शहरसम्म भाग्नु सक्छु र सुरक्षित रहन्छु।”

²⁰lo, I pray thee, this city [is] near to flee thither, and it [is] little; let me escape, I pray thee, thither, (is it not little?) and my soul doth live.`

²¹स्वर्गदूतले लूतलाई भने, “हेर, म तिमीलाई त्यसो गर्नु दिनेछु। म त्यो शहरलाई नाश पार्दिन।

²¹And he saith unto him, `Lo, I have accepted thy face also for this thing, without overthrowing the city [for] which thou hast spoken;

²²तर त्यहाँ छिटो पुग। तिमीहरू त्यस शहर नपुगुञ्जेलसम्म म सदोम नाश पार्न सक्तिन।” (सानो शहर हुनाले यसको नाउँ ‘सोअर’ हो।)

²²haste, escape thither, for I am not able to do anything till thine entering thither;` therefore hath he calleth the name of the city Zoar.

²³घाम झुल्कँदै गर्दा लूत सोअर शहरभित्र पस्दै थिए।

²³The sun hath gone out on the earth, and Lot hath entered into Zoar,

²⁴त्यति बेलै परमप्रभुले सदोम र गमोरालाई नष्ट गर्न शुरू गर्नु भयो। परमप्रभुले आकाशबाट आगो र जल्दै गरेको गन्धक त्यहाँ खसाल्नु भयो।

²⁴and Jehovah hath rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah, from the heavens;

²⁵यसरी परमप्रभुले ती शहरहरू नष्ट पार्नु भयो। परमप्रभुले समस्त बेंसी उद्भिदहरू र मानिसहरू सबै नष्ट पार्नुभयो।

²⁵and He overthroweth these cities, and all the circuit, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which is shooting up from the ground.

²⁶जब तिनीहरू भाग्दै थिए, लूतकी पत्नीले पछाडी फर्केर शहरलाई हेरिन्। जब उनले फर्केर हेरिन तिनी नूनको थुप्रोमा परिणत भइन्।

²⁶And his wife looketh expectingly from behind him, and she is — a pillar of salt!

²⁷त्यसै दिन बिहानै अब्राहाम त्यस ठाउँमा गए जहाँ तिनी परमप्रभुको सामुन्ने उभिएका थिए।

²⁷And Abraham riseth early in the morning, unto the place where he hath stood [before] the face of Jehovah;

²⁸अब्राहामले सदोम र गमोरा शहरहरूतर्फ नजर डुलाएर त्यस बेंसीको सम्पूर्ण भूमिलाई हेरे। त्यो प्रान्तबाट धूवाँको मुस्लो गइरहेको तिनले देखे अनि त्यो तिनलाई भयंकर आगोबाट निस्किएको धूवाँ जस्तो लाग्यो।

²⁸and he looketh on the face of Sodom and Gomorrah, and on all the face of the land of the circuit, and seeth, and lo, the smoke of the land went up as smoke of the furnace.

²⁹त्यस बेंसीको शहरहरूलाई परमेश्वरले नाश पार्नु भयो। तर परमेश्वरले जब यस्तो गर्नु भयो उहाँले अब्राहामलाई सम्झनु भयो र तिनको भतिजोलाई बचाउँनु भयो। लूत बेंसीको शहरहरूमा बसो-बास गर्दथिए तर शहरहरू नष्ट पार्नुअघि परमेश्वरले त्यहाँबाट बाहिर भगाउनु भयो।

²⁹And it cometh to pass, in God`s destroying the cities of the circuit, that God remembereth Abraham, and sendeth Lot out of the midst of the overthrow in the overthrowing of the cities in which Lot dwelt.

³⁰लूत सोअरमा बस्न डराए र आफ्नी दुवै छोरीहरू लिएर पर्वतको ओडारमा बस्न गए।

³⁰And Lot goeth up out of Zoar, and dwelleth in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, for he hath been afraid of dwelling in Zoar, and he dwelleth in a cave, he and his two daughters.

³¹एक दिन उनका जेठी छोरीले आफ्नो बहिनीलाई भनी, “संसारमा कही पनि पुरूष र स्त्रीहरू विवाह गरेर आफ्नो सन्तान उत्पन्न गर्छन। तर हाम्रा पिता बृद्ध भई सकेका छन् अनि यहाँ वरिपरि हामीलाई सन्तान उत्पन्न गर्नका लागि समर्थन गर्ने कोही छैन।

³¹And the first-born saith unto the younger, `Our father [is] old, and a man there is not in the earth to come in unto us, as [is] the way of all the earth;

³²यसर्थ हामीले हाम्रो पितालाई दाखरस पियाएर मताऊँ र तिनीसित सम्बन्ध गरौं। यसरी हाम्रो परिवारलाई जीवित राख्न आफ्नो पितालाई प्रयोग गर्न सक्छौ।”

³²come, we cause our father to drink wine, and lie with him, and preserve from our father — a seed.`

³³त्यस रात यी दुइ दिदी-बहिनीहरूले आफ्नो पितालाई मद्य दिएर पूरा मताए। तब दिदी चाँहि आफ्नो पिताको ओछ्यानमा गई अनि उनीसित सहवास गरी। लूत यति मातेका थिए कति बेला छोरी आई र गई उनलाई थाहा भएन।

³³And they cause their father to drink wine on that night; and the first-born goeth in, and lieth with her father, and he hath not known in her lying down, or in her rising up.

³⁴अर्को दिन दिदीले आफ्नी बहिनीलाई भनिन्, “हिजो राती, म हाम्रा पितासित सुतें। आज राती, फेरि उनलाई मताऊँ अनि तिमी उनको ओछ्यानमा जान सक्छौ अनि उनीसित शारीरिक सर्म्पक राख्नसक्छौ। यस प्रकार हामी आफ्नो परिवारलाई निःसन्तान हुनबाट बचाउन सक्छौं।”

³⁴And it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that the first-born saith unto the younger, `Lo, I have lain yesterday-night with my father: we cause him to drink wine also to-night, and go thou in, lie with him, and we preserve from our father — a seed.`

³⁵त्यस राती ती दुइ बहिनीहरूले आफ्नो पितालाई दाखरस पियाएर मताए अनि सानी चाँहि छोरी उनको ओछ्यानमा गई र सहवास गरी। तर फेरि लूत यति साह्रो मातेका थिए कति बेला को केटी उनको ओछ्यानमा सुत्न आई अनि उठेर गई उनलाई पत्तै भएन।

³⁵And they cause their father to drink wine on that night also, and the younger riseth and lieth with him, and he hath not known in her lying down, or in her rising up.

³⁶लूतका दुबै छोरीहरू गर्भवती भए अनि तिनीहरूका पिता तिनीहरूको नानीहरूका पिता थिए।

³⁶And the two daughters of Lot conceive from their father,

³⁷जेठी छोरीले छोरो जन्माई र उसको नाउँ मोआब राखी। मोआब आजका सबै मोआबी मानिसहरूको पिता हुन्।

³⁷and the first-born beareth a son, and calleth his name Moab; he [is] father of Moab unto this day;

³⁸सानी छोरीले पनि छोरो जन्माई र उसको नाउँ बेनअमी राखी। बेनअमी आजका सबै अम्मोनी मानिसहरूका पिता हुन्।

³⁸as to the younger, she also hath born a son, and calleth his name Ben-Ammi: he [is] father of the Beni-Ammon unto this day.
