¹तब अय्यूबले जवाफ दिए,

¹And Job answereth and saith: —

²मैले पहिलाबाट “यी कुराहरू सुनेको हुँ। तिमीहरू तीनजना मानिसहरूले मलाई दुःख दिइरहेकाछौ, सान्तवना होइन।

²I have heard many such things, Miserable comforters [are] ye all.

³तिमीहरूका लामा भाषणहरू कहिले सिद्धिने होइन। किन तिमीहरूको तर्कहरू तन्काई रहन्छौ?

³Is there an end to words of wind? Or what doth embolden thee that thou answerest?

⁴तिमीहरूले भनेकै कुराहरू म पनि भन्न सक्थें यदि तिमीहरूसँग मेरो जस्तै संकटहरू भए। म तिमीहरूलाई ज्ञानी कुराहरू सुनाउन सक्थे अनि मेरो टाउको तिमीहरूतिर हल्लाउथें।

⁴I also, like you, might speak, If your soul were in my soul`s stead. I might join against you with words, And nod at you with my head.

⁵तर म तिमीलाई उत्साह दिउँला अनि मैले भनेका कुराहरूसँग आशा जगाई दिउँला।

⁵I might harden you with my mouth, And the moving of my lips might be sparing.

⁶मैले जे भने पनि मेरो पीडा केहीबाट हरण हुने छैन, तर चुपचाप बसिरहनु पनि लाभ छैन।

⁶If I speak, my pain is not restrained, And I cease — what goeth from me?

⁷हे परमेश्वर, साँचो रूपमा, तपाईंले मेरो शक्ति लैजानु भयो। तपाईंले मेरो सबै परिवार तहसनहस पारिदिनु भयो।

⁷Only, now, it hath wearied me; Thou hast desolated all my company,

⁸तपाईंले मलाई दुब्लो-पातलो बनाइदिनु भयो, अनि मानिसहरूलाई त्यसले मलाई दोष्याउने कारण उब्जाउँछ।

⁸And Thou dost loathe me, For a witness it hath been, And rise up against me doth my failure, In my face it testifieth.

⁹परमेश्वर क्रोधित हुनुभयो अनि मेरो शरीरलाई एउटा सिंहले झैं आक्रमण गर्नु भयो। मेरो शरीर टुक्रा-टुक्रा पारी च्यात्नु भयो। अनि मेरो शत्रुहरूले मलाई तिनीहरूको घृणित नजरले हेरे।

⁹His anger hath torn, and he hateth me, He hath gnashed at me with his teeth, My adversary sharpeneth his eyes for me.

¹⁰मानिसहरूले मेरो वरिपरि थुप्रेर, तिनीहरूले मलाई हाँसोको पात्र बनाए अनि थप्पड लगाए।

¹⁰They have gaped on me with their mouth, In reproach they have smitten my cheeks, Together against me they set themselves.

¹¹परमेश्वरले मलाई दुष्ट मानिसहरूकहाँ दिनु भयो। मलाई दुःख दिओस् भनेर उहाँले कुकर्मीहरूलाई छोडी दिनुभयो।

¹¹God shutteth me up unto the perverse, And to the hands of the wicked turneth me over.

¹²जबसम्म परमेश्वरले मलाई घाँटीमा समात्नु भएन अनि मलाई टुक्रा-टुक्रा पार्नु भएन तबसम्म प्रत्येक कुरो राम्रै भइरहेको थियो। तब उहाँले मलाई पहिलेकै अवस्थामा ल्याउनु भयो र मलाई उहाँको तारोको रूप प्रयोग गर्नुभयो।

¹²At ease I have been, and he breaketh me, And he hath laid hold on my neck, And he breaketh me in pieces, And he raiseth me to him for a mark.

¹³परमेश्वरका धनुर्धारीहरू मेरो वरिपरि छन्। उहाँले मेरो मिर्गौलामा काँढले हान्नु भयो। उहाँले ममाथि दयाभाव देखाउनु भएन उहाँले मेरो पित्त भुईंमा फुटाउनु भयो।

¹³Go round against me do his archers. He splitteth my reins, and spareth not, He poureth out to the earth my gall.

¹⁴घरिघरि परमेश्वरले मलाई आक्रमण गर्नुहुन्छ। उहाँ एक सिपाही युद्धभूमिमा दौडे जस्तो दगुर्नुहुन्छ।

¹⁴He breaketh me — breach upon breach, He runneth upon me as a mighty one.

¹⁵म अत्यन्त उदास छु, यसैले म त्यस्ता उदासी पोषाकहरू लगाउँछु। म यहाँ धुलोमुलो र खरानीको थुप्रोमा बस्छु, अनि म पराजित भएको ठान्छु।

¹⁵Sackcloth I have sewed on my skin, And have rolled in the dust my horn.

¹⁶रूँदा-रूँदा मेरो अनुहार रातो भइसक्यो। मेरो आँखा वरिपरि कालो गोलो रेखाहरू छन्।

¹⁶My face is foul with weeping, And on mine eyelids [is] death-shade.

¹⁷मैले कसैलाई नोक्सान गरेको छैन। तर त्यस्ता अप्रिय घटनाहरू मकहाँ आई लाग्यो। मेरा प्रार्थनाहरू उचित र चोखा छन्।

¹⁷Not for violence in my hands, And my prayer [is] pure.

¹⁸पृथ्वी, गल्ती कुराहरू नलुकाऊ जुन ममाथि आइपर्यो। मेरो न्यायको पुकारलाई नरोक।

¹⁸O earth, do not thou cover my blood! And let there not be a place for my cry.

¹⁹अहिले पनि त्यहाँ स्वर्गमा कोही छ जो मसँग बोल्नु हुन्छ। त्यहाँ माथि कोही त छ जसले मेरो लागि साक्षी दिनेछ।

¹⁹Also, now, lo, in the heavens [is] my witness, And my testifier in the high places.

²⁰मेरो साथीहरूले मलाई हप्काउँछ। मेरा आँखहरूबाट परमेश्वरका निम्ति आँशु बग्छ।

²⁰My interpreter [is] my friend, Unto God hath mine eye dropped:

²¹तर परमेश्वर अघि उसले मेरो विषयमा साथीको लागि न्याय गरिदिने मानिसले झैं बोलिदिन्छ।

²¹And he reasoneth for a man with God, And a son of man for his friend.

²²केही वर्षमा म नफर्किने ठाउँमा जानेछु।

²²When a few years do come, Then a path I return not do I go.
