1एकजना बुद्धिमानी छोरोले आफ्नो बाबुलाई आनन्द दिन्छ भने, एक मूर्ख छोरोले आफ्नी आमालाई कष्ट दिएको हुन्छ।
1The Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
2खराब काम गरी कमाएको धन सदाको लागि व्यर्थ हुन्छ इमान्दारीताले मानिसहरूलाई मृत्युबाट बचाउँछ।
2Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.
3परमप्रभुले धर्मीहरूलाई भोकै राख्नु हुन्न तर उहाँले दुष्ट मानिसको लालसालाई पनि विरोध गर्नु हुन्छ।
3Jehovah suffereth not the soul of the righteous [man] to famish; but he repelleth the craving of the wicked.
4अल्छी मानिसले दरिद्रता निम्तयाँउछ भने, एक मेहनती मानिस धनी हुन्छ।
4He cometh to want that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5ग्रीष्म ऋतुमा जसले अन्न जम्मा गरेर राख्छ त्यो ज्ञानी मानिस हो तर जुन मानिस कटनीको समयमा सुत्छ त्यसले शरम ल्याउँछ।
5He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
6इमानदार मानिसको शिरमाथि आशीषहरू वर्षन्छन्, तर दुष्ट मानिसको मुखबाट घृणित कुराहरू मात्र निस्कन्छन्।
6Blessings are upon the head of a righteous [man]; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
7एकजना इमान्दार मानिसको स्मरण आशीर्वादको श्रोत हो तर दुष्ट मानिसको नामबाट दुर्गन्ध आँउछ।
7The memory of the righteous [man] shall be blessed; but the name of the wicked shall rot.
8एकजना ज्ञानी मानिसले आज्ञाहरू पालन गर्छ। तर तर्क गर्ने मूर्खले आफैंलाई नासमा पुर्याउँछ।
8The wise in heart receiveth commandments; but a prating fool shall fall.
9ईमानदार मानिस सदा सर्वदाको लागि सुरक्षित भई रहन्छ भने एउटा दुष्ट मानिस अवश्य पतन हुन्छ।
9He that walketh in integrity walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
10सच्चाई लुकाउने मानिसले दुःख ल्याउँछ। खुलासँग बोल्ने मानिसले शान्ति ल्याउँछ।
10He that winketh with the eye causeth grief, and a prating fool shall fall.
11इमान्दार मानिसको मुख जीवनको स्रोत हो, तर मूर्ख मानिसको मुखबाट घृणीत कुराहरू मात्र निस्कन्छन्।
11The mouth of a righteous [man] is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
12घृणाले झगडा उत्पन्न गराउँछ, तर प्रेमले सबै अपराधहरूलाई क्षमा गर्छ।
12Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all transgressions.
13बुद्धि, ज्ञानी मानिसहरूको मुखमा पाइन्छ, तर मूर्खलाई उसको पीठ्यूँमा लट्ठीले हिर्काइन्छ।
13In the lips of an intelligent [man] wisdom is found; but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
14बुद्धिमानी मानिसहरूले ज्ञानलाई संचय गर्छन्, तर मूर्खको बोलीलो आपद-विपदहरू मात्र बोलाउँछ।
14The wise lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the fool is near destruction.
15धनी मानिसलाई धनले रक्षा गर्छ तर दरिद्रताले गरीब मानिसहरूलाई नष्ट पार्छ।
15The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16एकजना इमान्दार मानिसले जे कमाउँछ, त्यसले जीवन प्रदान गर्छ, तर दुष्ट मानिसको कमाईहरू पापको निम्ति प्रयोग हुन्छ।
16The labour of a righteous [man] [tendeth] to life; the revenue of a wicked [man], to sin.
17आफूले भोगेको सजायबाट जुन मानिसले शिक्षा लिन्छ उसले अन्य मानिसहरूलाई पनि बाँच्न सिकाउँछ। तर जुन मानिसले सजायबाट शिक्षा लिनु अस्वीकार गर्छ त्यसले अरूलाई पथभ्रष्ट बनाई दिन्छ।
17Keeping instruction is the path to life; but he that forsaketh reproof goeth astray.
18जसले आफ्नो घृणा लुकाएर राख्छ, त्यो कपटी हो र जसले आफूले फैलाउनु सक्ने कथाहरू मात्र खोज्छ त्यो मूर्ख हो।
18He that covereth hatred hath lying lips, and he that sendeth forth a slander is a fool.
19धेरै बोल्ने मानिसले प्रायः समस्या उबजाउँछ, तर चुपचाप रहने मानिस विवेकी हुन्छ।
19In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that restraineth his lips doeth wisely.
20इमान्दार मानिसको मुखबाट निस्केका शब्दहरू निखुर चाँदी झैं बहूमूल्य हुन् तर नराम्रो मानिसका विचारहरूको मूल्य हुँदैन।
20The tongue of the righteous [man] is [as] choice silver; the heart of the wicked is little worth.
21इमान्दार मानिसका वचनहरूले धेरै मानिसहरूलाई सहायता गर्छ, तर एउटा मूर्खको मूर्खयाँईंले उसलाई मार्छ।
21The lips of a righteous [man] feed many; but fools die for want of understanding.
22परमेश्वरको आशीर्वादले धन सम्पत्ति ल्याउँछ अनि उहाँले यसमा कष्टहरू थप्नु हुन्न।
22The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow to it.
23एउटा मूर्ख मानिस दुष्कर्ममा रमाउँछ, तर समझदार मानिस ज्ञानमा खुशी हुन्छ।
23It is as sport to a foolish [man] to do wickedness; but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
24दुष्ट मानिसहरू जे कुरामा डराउनछन् तिनीहरूलाई त्यहि हुन्छ तर एउटा धर्मी मानिसले जे चिताँउछ त्यहि प्राप्त गर्छ।
24The fear of a wicked [man], it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25आँधी-बेहरीले उडाएर लगे झैं दुष्ट मानिसहरू एक क्षणमै नष्ट हुन्छन्, तर धर्मी मानिस अनन्त सम्मै दृढ रहिरहन्छ।
25As a whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no [more]; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
26जसले अल्छी मानिसलाई काम अह्राएर पठाउँछ उसलाई दाँतमा अमिलो सिरका परे झैं र आखाँमा धूवाँ लागे झैं हुन्छ।
26As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27परमप्रभुको भयले मानिसको आयु बढाइ दिन्छ, तर दुष्ट मानिसको आयु घटूनेछ।
27The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28धर्मी मानिसका आशाहरू खुशीमा अन्त हुन्छन, तर दुष्ट मानिसहरूकाा आशाहरू शुन्यमा अन्त हुन्छ।
28The hope of the righteous is joy; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29परमप्रभुको मार्ग धर्मी मानिसहरूको लागि शरणस्थान हो, तर दुष्ट मानिसहरूको लागि विध्वंस हो।
29The way of Jehovah is strength to the perfect [man], but destruction to the workers of iniquity.
30धर्मी व्याक्ति कहिले डग्मगाउदैन तर दुष्ट मानिसहरू पृथ्वीमा टिक्ने छैनन्।
30The righteous [man] shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.
31धर्मी मानिसले ज्ञानको उच्चारण गर्छ, तर एउटा कुटिल जिब्रो काटिनेछ।
31The mouth of a righteous [man] putteth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
32एकजना धर्मी मानिसले ग्रहणयोग्य कुरा बोल्न जान्दछ तर एकजना दुष्ट मानसिले यस्ता मात्रै शब्द बोल्छ जसले दुःख दिन्छ।
32The lips of a righteous [man] know what is acceptable; but the mouth of the wicked is frowardness.
