1Israel kumpipa, David tapa Solomon paunakte:
1The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
2Pilna leh hilhna theih ding; theisiamna thute theikak ding;
2to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;
3Thilhih pilhuaia hilhna mu ding, diktatna leh vaihawm leh hawmsiamna ah;
3to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;
4Mi mawlte kianga kivensiamna pe ding, tangval kianga theihna leh ngentelna;
4to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man:
5Mi pilin a jak theiha, sinsiamnaa a pun theihna dingin; huan theihsiam miin thuphate a phak theihna ding;
5that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel:
6Paunak leh lima thugen theisiam ding; mipilte thute, gentehna thugen theihhakte theisiam dingin.
6to understand a proverb, and parables, the words and riddles of the wise.
7Toupa kuhtak theihna kipatna ahi: himahleh mihaiin pilna leh hilhna a musit.
7The fear of Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
8Ka tapa, na pa hilhna ja in, na nu dan mangngilh ken:
8My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching:
9Na lu adingin deihhuai lungtangjem leh na ngawng vial ding khainiangte hi ding ulah ahi ngala.
9for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.
10Ka tapa, mikhialten a honzol ua leh, pha sakpih ken.
10My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent.
11Honjui in, sisan I buk ding ua, a jiak beiin mi hoihte a gukin I tang ding uh, a chih uleh:
11If they say, “Come with us, Let’s lay in wait for blood; let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;
12Seol bangin amaute a hingin I nawmvalh ding ua, huan, kokhuk sunga pai sukte bangin, a pumin:
12let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. , and whole, like those who go down into the pit.
13Van manpha tengteng I mu ding ua, gallaktein I inte uh I dimsak ding uh;
13We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with spoil.
14Na tan kou laka ma sep lut dinga; sumbawm khat I nei khawm ding ua:
14You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse.”
15Ka tapa, lampi ah amau toh ton ken; a lampi ua kipan na khe kaikikin:
15My son, don’t walk in the way with them. Keep your foot from their path,
16Gilou hih dingin a khe uh a tai ngala, huan sisan suah dingin a kinoh uhi.
16for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.
17Vasa himhim mitmuh in, len a kiphah thawn ngala:
17For in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird:
18Huan hiaiten amau sisan ngeia tang ua, amau hinna ngei a gukin a buk uhi.
18but these lay wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.
19Huchibangin michih punnaa duhgawlte lampi ahi hi; huaia neitute hinna a lak mang sak sek hi.
19So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.
20Kongzing ah ngaihtakin pilna a kikoua; mun liante ah a aw a suaha;
20Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.
21Mipi omkhawmte mun pipen ah a kikoua; kongpite lutna ah, khopi ah, a thute a gen:
21She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:
22Bang tan ahia, nou mi mawlten, mawlna na it ding uh? Nuihsanmiten nuihsana amaute a kipah ding ua, mihaiten theihna a huat ding uh?
22“How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?
23Ka salhna ah kihei unla: ngaiin na tunguah ka kha ka sung bo ding, na kianguah ka thute ka theisak ding hi.
23Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.
24Ka sap a, na nial jiakun: ka bante ka jaka, kuamahin a limsak kei uh;
24Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;

26I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you;
27Huihpi banga na launa uh a hongtun chiangin; pingpei banga na tuahsiatna uh a hongtun chiang in; lungkhamna leh dahna na tung ua a hongtun chiangin.
27when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come on you.
28Huai hun chiangin kei a honsam ding ua, himahleh ka dawng kei ding; thanuam takin a honzong ding ua, himahleh a honmu kei ding uh:
28Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;
29Theihna a huat ua, Toupa kihtakna a zon louh jiak un:
29because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of Yahweh.
30Ka thupha laka bangmah a deih kei ua; ka salhna tengteng a musit uh:
30They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.
31Huaijiakin a lampi uh gah a ne ding ua, amau thusawmte ngeiin a vah ding uh.
31Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.
32Mimawlte nungtolhna in amaute a hihlum dia, mihaite hausaknain amau hihmang ding ahih jiakin.Himahleh kuapeuh kei honngaikhia bittakin a teng ding ua, gilou launa pang louin a muang ding uh.
32For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.
33Himahleh kuapeuh kei honngaikhia bittakin a teng ding ua, gilou launa pang louin a muang ding uh.
33But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
