¹ «دربارهٔ دیگران قضاوت نكنید تا مورد قضاوت قرار نگیرید.

¹Judge not, that ye may not be judged;

² همان‌طور كه شما دیگران را محكوم می‌کنید خودتان نیز محكوم خواهید شد. با هر پیمانه‌ای كه به دیگران بدهید، با همان پیمانه عوض خواهید گرفت.

²for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you.

³ چرا پرِ كاهی را كه در چشم برادرت هست می‌بینی، ولی در فكر چوب بزرگی كه در چشم خود داری نیستی؟

³But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye?

⁴ یا چگونه جرأت می‌کنی به برادر خود بگویی: 'اجازه بده پر كاه را از چشمت بیرون آورم' حال آنكه خودت چوب بزرگی در چشم داری.

⁴Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow [me], I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye?

⁵ ای ریاكار، اول آن چوب بزرگ را از چشم خود بیرون بیاور، آنگاه درست خواهی دید كه پر كاه را از چشم برادرت بیرون بیاوری.

⁵Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother.

⁶ آنچه مقدّس است به سگان ندهید و مرواریدهای خود را جلوی خوکها نریزید. مبادا آنها را زیر پا لگدمال كنند و برگشته شما را بدَرَند.

⁶Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you.

⁷ «بخواهید، به شما داده خواهد شد. بجویید، پیدا خواهید كرد. در بزنید، در به رویتان باز خواهد شد.

⁷Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.

⁸ چون هرکه بخواهد، به دست می‌آورد و هرکه بجوید، پیدا می‌کند و هرکه در بزند، در به رویش باز می‌شود.

⁸For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

⁹ آیا كسی در میان شما هست كه وقتی پسرش از او نان بخواهد، سنگی به او بدهد؟

⁹Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone;

¹⁰ و یا وقتی ماهی می‌خواهد، ماری در دستش بگذارد؟

¹⁰and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent?

¹¹ پس اگر شما كه انسانهای شریری هستید، می‌دانید چگونه باید چیزهای خوب را به فرزندان خود بدهید، چقدر بیشتر باید مطمئن باشید كه پدر آسمانی شما چیزهای نیكو را به آنانی كه از او تقاضا می‌کنند عطا خواهد فرمود!

¹¹If therefore *ye*, being wicked, know [how] to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him?

¹² با دیگران همان‌طور رفتار كنید كه می‌خواهید آنها با شما رفتار كنند. این است خلاصهٔ تورات و نوشته‌های انبیا.

¹²Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do *ye* also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

¹³ «از درِ تنگ وارد شوید، زیرا دری كه بزرگ و راهی كه وسیع است به هلاكت منتهی می‌شود و کسانی‌که این راه را می‌پیمایند، بسیارند

¹³Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it.

¹⁴ امّا دری كه به حیات منتهی می‌شود تنگ و راهش دشوار است و یابندگان آن هم، كم هستند.

¹⁴For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it.

¹⁵ «از انبیای دروغین برحذر باشید كه در لباس میش به نزد شما می‌آیند، ولی در باطن گرگان درّنده‌اند.

¹⁵But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves.

¹⁶ آنان را از کارهایشان خواهید شناخت. آیا می‌توان از بوتهٔ خار، انگور و از خاربن، انجیر چید؟

¹⁶By their fruits ye shall know them. Do [men] gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs?

¹⁷ همین‌طور درخت خوب میوهٔ خوب به بار می‌آورد و درخت فاسد میوهٔ بد.

¹⁷So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits.

¹⁸ درخت خوب نمی‌تواند میوهٔ بد به بار آورد و نه درخت بد میوهٔ خوب.

¹⁸A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits.

¹⁹ درختی كه میوهٔ خوب به بار نیاورد آن را می‌برند و در آتش می‌اندازند.

¹⁹Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

²⁰ بنابراین شما آنها را از میوه‌هایشان خواهید شناخت.

²⁰By their fruits then surely ye shall know them.

²¹ «نه هرکس كه مرا «خداوندا، خداوندا» خطاب كند به پادشاهی آسمان وارد خواهد شد، بلكه کسی‌که ارادهٔ پدر آسمانی مرا به انجام برساند.

²¹Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens.

²² وقتی آن روز برسد بسیاری به من خواهند گفت: 'خداوندا، خداوندا، آیا به نام تو نبوّت نكردیم؟ آیا با ذكر نام تو دیوها را بیرون نراندیم؟ و به نام تو معجزات بسیار نكردیم؟

²²Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power?

²³ آنگاه آشکارا به آنان خواهم گفت: 'من هرگز شما را نشناختم. از من دور شوید، ای بدكاران.'

²³and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness.

²⁴ «پس کسی‌که سخنان مرا می‌شنود و به آنها عمل می‌کند، مانند شخص دانایی است كه خانهٔ خود را بر سنگ بنا نمود.

²⁴Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;

²⁵ باران بارید، سیل جاری شد و باد وزیده بر آن خانه فشار آورد، امّا آن خانه خراب نشد زیرا شالودهٔ آن بر روی سنگ بود.

²⁵and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock.

²⁶ «امّا هرکه سخنان مرا بشنود و به آنها عمل نكند مانند شخص نادانی است كه خانهٔ خود را بر روی شن بنا كرد.

²⁶And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand;

²⁷ باران بارید، سیل جاری شد و باد وزیده به آن خانه فشار آورد و آن خانه فرو ریخت و چه خرابی عظیمی بود!»

²⁷and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.

²⁸ وقتی عیسی این سخنان را به پایان رسانید مردم از تعالیم او متحیّر شدند زیرا او برخلاف روش علما، با اختیار و اقتدار به آنان تعلیم می‌داد.

²⁸And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine,

²⁹ زیرا او برخلاف روش علما، با اختیار و اقتدار به آنان تعلیم می‌داد.

²⁹for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes.
