¹ ای لبنان، دروازه‌هایت را بازکن تا آتش، درختان سرو تو را بسوزاند.

¹Open your doors, Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars.

² ای درختان صنوبر گریه کنید، زیرا درختان سرو همه افتاده‌اند. آن درختان با شکوه نابود شده‌اند! ای درختان بلوط باشان زاری کنید، زیرا جنگل عظیم از بین رفته است.

²Wail, fir tree, for the cedar has fallen, because the stately ones are destroyed. Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest has come down.

³ گریه حاکمان را بشنوید، زیرا که حشمت و جلال آنها نابود شده است. غرّش شیرها را بشنوید، چون جنگلهای اردن نابود شده‌اند.

³A voice of the wailing of the shepherds! For their glory is destroyed: a voice of the roaring of young lions! For the pride of the Jordan is ruined.

⁴ خداوند، خدایم به من فرمود: «شبان گوسفندانی شو که بزودی باید سرشان بریده شوند.

⁴Thus says Yahweh my God: “Feed the flock of slaughter.

⁵ کسانی‌که گوسفندان را می‌خرند و می‌کشند، مجازات نمی‌شوند. آنانی ‌که آنها را می‌فروشند می‌گویند: 'خدا را شکر، ثروتمند شدیم.' حتّی شبانهای خودشان هم، بر آنها رحم نمی‌کنند.»

⁵Their buyers slaughter them, and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be Yahweh, for I am rich;’ and their own shepherds don’t pity them.

⁶ خداوند ‌فرمود: «دیگر بر مردم روی زمین رحم نخواهم کرد، بلکه کاری می‌کنم که آنها به دست همسایگان و پادشاهان بیفتند. این پادشاهان، زمین را ویران می‌کنند و من مانع آنها نمی‌شوم.»

⁶For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land,” says Yahweh; “but, behold, I will deliver the men everyone into his neighbor’s hand, and into the hand of his king. They will strike the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.”

⁷ تاجرانی که گوسفندان را خرید و فروش می‌کنند مرا به عنوان شبان گوسفندانی که قرار بود سرشان بریده شوند، استخدام کردند. پس من دو عصا در دست گرفتم، یکی را رحمت نامیدم و دیگری را اتّحاد و گلّه را چرانیدم.

⁷So I fed the flock of slaughter, especially the oppressed of the flock. I took for myself two staffs. The one I called “Favor,” and the other I called “Union,” and I fed the flock.

⁸ از سه شبان دیگر که از من نفرت داشتند، بیزار شدم و در مدّت یک ماه خود را از شر آنها آسوده ساختم.

⁸I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me.

⁹ سپس به گوسفندان گفتم: «بعد از این، شبانِ شما نخواهم بود. کسانی‌که مردنی هستند، بگذار بمیرند و آنانی ‌که از بین رفتنی هستند، بگذار از بین بروند. کسانی‌ هم که باقی می‌مانند بگذار به جان هم بیفتند!»

⁹Then I said, “I will not feed you. That which dies, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let those who are left eat each other’s flesh.”

¹⁰ آنگاه عصای رحمت را شکستم تا نشان بدهم که خداوند پیمانی را که با تمام اقوام بسته بود، شکسته است.

¹⁰I took my staff Favor, and cut it apart, that I might break my covenant that I had made with all the peoples.

¹¹ پس، آن پیمان در همان روز شکسته شد و تاجران گوسفند که مرا تماشا می‌کردند، پی‌بردند که با کاری‌ که من کردم، پیام خدا را به آنها رساندم.

¹¹It was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that listened to me knew that it was the word of Yahweh.

¹² بعد به آنها گفتم: «حالا اگر مایلید مزد مرا بدهید.» پس آنها سی تکهٔ نقره به من دادند.

¹²I said to them, “If you think it best, give me my wages; and if not, keep them.” So they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver.

¹³ خداوند به من فرمود: «آنها را در خزانهٔ معبد بزرگ بینداز.» پس من آن مبلغ هنگفت را که در نظر آنها ارزش من بود، در خزانهٔ معبد بزرگ انداختم.

¹³Yahweh said to me, “Throw it to the potter, the handsome price that I was valued at by them!” I took the thirty pieces of silver, and threw them to the potter, in the house of Yahweh.

¹⁴ سپس عصای دوم، یعنی عصای اتّحاد را شکستم تا نشان بدهم که اتّحاد برادری بین یهودا و اسرائیل شکسته شده است.

¹⁴Then I cut apart my other staff, even Union, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

¹⁵ آنگاه خداوند به من فرمود: «برو این بار نقش یک شبان احمق را بازی ‌کن.

¹⁵Yahweh said to me, “Take for yourself yet again the equipment of a foolish shepherd.

¹⁶ من در این سرزمین شبانی را تعیین می‌کنم، امّا او از آنانی که هلاک می‌شوند مراقبت نمی‌کند. گُمشدگان را هدایت نمی‌کند، زخمی‌ها را معالجه نمی‌کند و به آنهایی که سالِمند خوراک نمی‌دهد، بلکه گوشت گوسفندان پروار را می‌خورد و سُمهایشان را می‌کَند. وای بر شبانِ وظیفه‌نشناسی که گلّه را ترک می‌کند. شمشیر در بازو و چشم راست او فرو می‌رود. بازویش خشک و چشمش بکلّی کور می‌شود.»

¹⁶For, behold, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not visit those who are cut off, neither will seek those who are scattered, nor heal that which is broken, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the flesh of the fat sheep, and will tear their hoofs in pieces.

¹⁷ وای بر شبانِ وظیفه‌نشناسی که گلّه را ترک می‌کند. شمشیر در بازو و چشم راست او فرو می‌رود. بازویش خشک و چشمش بکلّی کور می‌شود.»

¹⁷Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! The sword will be on his arm, and on his right eye. His arm will be completely withered, and his right eye will be totally blinded!”
