¹David şi -a zidit case în cetatea lui David; a pregătit un loc chivotului lui Dumnezeu, şi a ridicat un cort pentru el.

¹David made him houses in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

²Atunci David a zis: ,,Chivotul lui Dumnezeu nu trebuie purtat decît de Leviţi, căci pe ei i -a ales Domnul să ducă chivotul lui Dumnezeu şi să -I slujească pe vecie.

²Then David said, “No one ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites. For Yahweh has chosen them to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him forever.”

³Şi David a strîns tot Israelul la Ierusalim ca să suie chivotul Domnului la locul pe care i -l pregătise.

³David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Yahweh to its place, which he had prepared for it.

⁴David a strîns pe fiii lui Aaron şi pe Leviţi:

⁴David gathered together the sons of Aaron, and the Levites:

⁵din fiii lui Chehat: pe căpetenia Uriel şi pe fraţii săi, o sută douăzeci;

⁵of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred twenty;

⁶din fiii lui Merari: pe căpetenia Asaia şi pe fraţii săi, două sute douăzeci;

⁶of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred twenty;

⁷din fiii lui Gherşom: pe căpetenia Ioel şi pe fraţii săi, o sută treizeci;

⁷of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred thirty;

⁸din fiii lui Eliţafan: pe căpetenia Semaia şi pe fraţii săi, două sute;

⁸of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred;

⁹din fiii lui Hebron, pe căpetenia Eliel şi pe fraţii săi, optzeci;

⁹of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty;

¹⁰din fiii lui Uziel, pe căpetenia Aminadab şi pe fraţii săi, o sută doisprezece.

¹⁰of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brothers one hundred twelve.

¹¹David a chemat pe preoţii Ţadoc şi Abiatar, şi pe Leviţii Uriel, Asaia, Ioel, Şemaia, Eliel şi Aminadab.

¹¹David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

¹²Şi le -a zis: ,,Voi sînteţi capii de familie ai Leviţilor, sfinţiţi-vă, voi şi fraţii voştri, şi suiţi chivotul Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel, la locul pe care i l-am pregătit.

¹²and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it.

¹³Pentru că n'aţi fost întîiaş dată, deaceea ne -a lovit Domnul Dumnezeul nostru, căci nu L-am căutat după lege.``

¹³For because you didn’t carry it at first, Yahweh our God made broke out against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”

¹⁴Preoţii şi Leviţii s'au sfinţit ca să suie chivotul Domnului, Dumnezeului lui Israel.

¹⁴So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

¹⁵Fiii Leviţilor au dus chivotul lui Dumnezeu pe umeri cu nişte drugi, cum poruncise Moise, după cuvîntul Domnului.

¹⁵The children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of Yahweh.

¹⁶Şi David a zis căpeteniilor Leviţilor să aşeze pe fraţii lor cîntăreţi cu instrumente de muzică, cu lăute, arfe şi ţimbale, şi să sune din ele cîntări răsunătoare, în semn de bucurie.

¹⁶David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers the singers, with instruments of music, stringed instruments and harps and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.

¹⁷Leviţii au aşezat pe Heman, fiul lui Ioel; dintre fraţii lui, pe Asaf, fiul lui Berechia; şi dintre fiii lui Merari, fraţii lor, pe Etan, fiul lui Cuşaia;

¹⁷So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

¹⁸apoi împreună cu ei pe fraţii lor de a doua mînă: pe Zaharia, Ben, Iaaziel, Şemiramot, Iehiel, Uni, Eliab, Benaia, Maaseia, Matitia, Elifele şi Micneia, şi Obed-Edom şi Ieiel, uşieri.

¹⁸and with them their brothers of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.

¹⁹Cîntăreţii Heman, Asaf şi Etan aveau ţimbale de aramă, ca să sune din ele.

¹⁹So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of brass to sound aloud;

²⁰Zaharia, Aziel, Şemiramot, Iehiel, Uni, Eliab, Maaseia şi Benaia aveau lăute pe alamot;

²⁰and Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;

²¹şi Matitia, Elifele, Micneia, Obed-Edom, Ieiel şi Azazia, aveau arfe cu opt coarde, ca să sune tare.

²¹and Mattithiah, and Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.

²²Chenania, căpetenia muzicii între Leviţi, cîrmuia muzica, fiindcă era meşter.

²²Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the song: he instructed about the song, because he was skillful.

²³Berechia şi Elcana erau uşierii chivotului.

²³Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

²⁴Şebania, Iosafat, Netaneel, Amasai, Zaharia, Benaia şi Eliezer, preoţii, sunau din trîmbiţe înaintea chivotului lui Dumnezeu. Obed-Edom şi Iehia erau uşierii chivotului.

²⁴Shebaniah, and Joshaphat, and Nethanel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

²⁵David, bătrînii lui Israel, şi căpeteniile miilor au pornit astfel să suie chivotul legămîntului Domnului de la casa lui Obed-Edom, în mijlocul bucuriei.

²⁵So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

²⁶Cînd a ajutat Dumnezeu pe Leviţi să ridice chivotul legămîntului Domnului, au jertfit şapte viţei şi şapte berbeci.

²⁶It happened, when God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, that they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

²⁷David era îmbrăcat cu o manta de in supţire; tot aşa erau îmbrăcaţi toţi Leviţii, cari duceau chivotul, cîntăreţii, şi Chenania, căpetenia muzicii între cîntăreţi, şi David avea pe el un efod de in.

²⁷David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites who bore the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: and David had on him an ephod of linen.

²⁸Tot Israelul a suit chivotul legămîntului Domnului cu strigăte de bucurie, cu sunete de goarne, de trîmbiţe, şi de chimvale, şi făcînd să răsune lăutele şi arfele.

²⁸Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.

²⁹Pe cînd intra în cetatea lui David chivotul legămîntului Domnului, Mical, fata lui Saul, se uita pe fereastră, şi cînd a văzut pe împăratul David sărind şi jucînd, l -a dispreţuit în inima ei.

²⁹It happened, as the ark of the covenant of Yahweh came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
