¹Sfătuiesc pe presbiterii (Sau: bătrîn.) dintre voi, eu, care sînt un presbiter (Sau: bătrîn.) ca şi ei, un martur al patimilor lui Hristos, şi părtaş al slavei care va fi descoperită:

¹I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed.

²Păstoriţi turma lui Dumnezeu, care este supt paza voastră, nu de silă, ci de bună voie, după voia lui Dumnezeu; nu pentru un cîştig mîrşav, ci cu lepădare de sine.

²Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, not for dishonest gain, but willingly;

³Nu ca şi cum aţi stăpîni peste cei ce v-au căzut la împărţeală, ci făcîndu-vă pilde turmei.

³neither as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.

⁴Şi cînd Se va arăta Păstorul cel mare, veţi căpăta cununa, care nu se poate vesteji, a slavei.

⁴When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn’t fade away.

⁵Tot aşa şi voi, tinerilor, fiţi supuşi celor bătrîni. Şi toţi în legăturile voastre, să fiţi împodobiţi cu smerenie. Căci, Dumnezeu stă împotriva celor mîndri, dar celor smeriţi le dă har."

⁵Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Proverbs 3:34

⁶Smeriţi-vă dar supt mîna tare a lui Dumnezeu, pentru ca, la vremea Lui, El să vă înalţe.

⁶Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;

⁷Şi aruncaţi asupra Lui toate îngrijorările voastre, căci El însuş îngrijeşte de voi.

⁷casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

⁸Fiţi treji, şi vegheaţi! Pentrucă protivnicul vostru, diavolul, dă tîrcoale ca un leu care răcneşte, şi caută pe cine să înghită.

⁸Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

⁹Împotriviţi-vă lui tari în credinţă, ştiind că şi fraţii voştri în lume trec prin aceleaşi suferinţe ca voi.

⁹Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.

¹⁰Dumnezeul oricărui har, care v-a chemat în Hristos Isus la slava Sa vecinică, după ce veţi suferi puţină vreme, vă va desăvîrşi , vă va întări , vă va da putere şi vă va face neclintiţi.

¹⁰But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

¹¹A Lui să fie slava şi puterea în vecii vecilor! Amin.

¹¹To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

¹²V-am scris aceste puţine rînduri prin Silvan, care cred că este un frate credincios, ca să vă sfătuiesc şi să vă adeveresc că adevăratul har al lui Dumnezeu este harul acesta, de care v-aţi alipit.

¹²Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.

¹³Biserica aleasă cu voi, care este în Babilon, vă trimete sănătate. Tot aşa şi Marcu, fiul meu.

¹³She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you; and so does Mark, my son.

¹⁴Spuneţi-vă sănătate unii altora cu o sărutare de dragoste.
