¹Simon (Sau: Simeon.) Petru, rob şi apostol al lui Isus Hristos, către ceice au căpătat o credinţă de acelaş preţ cu a noastră, prin dreptatea Dumnezeului şi Mîntuitorului nostru Isus Hristos:

¹Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

²Harul şi pacea să vă fie înmulţite prin cunoaşterea lui Dumnezeu şi a Domnului nostru Isus Hristos!

²Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

³Dumnezeiasca Lui putere ne -a dăruit tot ce priveşte viaţa şi evlavia, prin cunoaşterea Celuice ne -a chemat prin slava şi puterea Lui,

³seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue;

⁴prin cari El ne -a dat făgăduinţele Lui nespus de mari şi scumpe, ca prin ele să vă faceţi părtaşi firii dumnezeieşti, după ce aţi fugit de stricăciunea, care este în lume prin pofte.

⁴by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

⁵De aceea, daţi-vă şi voi toate silinţele ca să uniţi cu credinţa voastră fapta; cu fapta, cunoştinţa;

⁵Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;

⁶cu cunoştinţa, înfrînarea; cu înfrînarea, răbdarea; cu răbdarea, evlavia;

⁶and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness;

⁷cu evlavia, dragostea de fraţi; cu dragostea de fraţi, iubirea de oameni.

⁷and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.

⁸Căci, dacă aveţi din belşug aceste lucruri în voi, ele nu vă vor lăsa să fiţi nici leneşi, nici neroditori în ce priveşte deplina cunoştinţă a Domnului nostru Isus Hristos.

⁸For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹Dar cine nu are aceste lucruri, este orb, umblă cu ochii închişi, şi a uitat că a fost curăţit de vechile lui păcate.

⁹For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.

¹⁰De aceea, fraţilor, căutaţi cu atît mai mult să vă întăriţi chemarea şi alegerea voastră; căci, dacă faceţi lucrul acesta, nu veţi aluneca niciodată.

¹⁰Therefore, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.

¹¹În adevăr, în chipul acesta vi se va da din belşug intrare în Împărăţia vecinică a Domnului şi Mîntuitorului nostru Isus Hristos.

¹¹For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

¹²De aceea voi fi gata să vă aduc totdeauna aminte de lucrurile acestea, măcar că le ştiţi, şi sînteţi tari în adevărul pe care -l aveţi.

¹²Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them, and are established in the present truth.

¹³Dar socotesc că este drept, cît voi mai fi în cortul acesta, să vă ţin treji aducîndu-vă aminte;

¹³I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you;

¹⁴căci ştiu că desbrăcarea de cortul meu va veni deodată, după cum mi -a arătat Domnul nostru Isus Hristos.

¹⁴knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.

¹⁵Îmi voi da osteneala dar, ca, şi după moartea mea, să vă puteţi aduce totdeauna aminte de aceste lucruri.

¹⁵Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.

¹⁶În adevăr, v'am făcut cunoscut puterea şi venirea Domnului nostru Isus Hristos, nu întemeindu-ne pe nişte basme meşteşugit alcătuite, ci ca unii cari am văzut noi înşine cu ochii noştri mărirea Lui.

¹⁶For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

¹⁷Căci El a primit dela Dumnezeu Tatăl cinste şi slavă, atunci cînd, din slava minunată, s'a auzit deasupra Lui un glas, care zicea: ,,Acesta este Fiul Meu prea iubit, în care Îmi găsesc plăcerea.``

¹⁷For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 9:35

¹⁸Şi noi înşine am auzit acest glas venind din cer, cînd eram cu El pe muntele cel sfînt.

¹⁸We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

¹⁹Şi avem cuvîntul proorociei făcut şi mai tare; la care bine faceţi că luaţi aminte, ca la o lumină care străluceşte într'un loc întunecos, pînă se va crăpa de ziuă şi va răsări luceafărul de dimineaţă în inimile voastre.

¹⁹We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts:

²⁰Fiindcă mai întîi de toate, să ştiţi că nicio proorocie din Scriptură nu se tîlcuieşte singură.

²⁰knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.

²¹Căci nici o proorocie n'a fost adusă prin voia omului; ci oamenii au vorbit dela Dumnezeu, mînaţi de Duhul Sfînt.

²¹For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
