¹Cît priveşte venirea Domnului nostru Isus Hristos şi strîngerea noastră laolaltă cu El, vă rugăm, fraţilor,

¹Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him, we ask you

²să nu vă lăsaţi clătinaţi aşa de repede în mintea voastră, şi să nu vă tulburaţi de vreun duh, nici de vreo vorbă, nici de vreo epistolă, ca venind dela noi, ca şi cum ziua Domnului ar fi şi venit chiar.

²not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come.

³Nimeni să nu vă amăgească în vreun chip; căci nu va veni înainte ca să fi venit lepădarea de credinţă, şi de a se descoperi omul fărădelegii (Sau: omul păcatului), fiul pierzării,

³Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,

⁴protivnicul, care se înalţă mai pe sus de tot ce se numeşte ,,Dumnezeu``, sau de ce este vrednic de închinare. Aşa că se va aşeza în Templul lui Dumnezeu, dîndu-se drept Dumnezeu.

⁴he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.

⁵Nu vă aduceţi aminte cum vă spuneam lucrurile acestea, cînd eram încă la voi?

⁵Don’t you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?

⁶Şi acum ştiţi bine ce -l opreşte ca să nu se descopere decît la vremea lui.

⁶Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.

⁷Căci taina fărădelegii a şi început să lucreze; trebuie numai ca cel ce o opreşte acum, să fie luat din drumul ei.

⁷For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.

⁸Şi atunci se va arăta acel Nelegiuit, pe care Domnul Isus îl va nimici cu suflarea gurii Sale, şi -l va prăpădi cu arătarea venirii Sale.

⁸Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;

⁹Arătarea lui se va face prin puterea Satanei, cu tot felul de minuni, de semne şi puteri mincinoase,

⁹even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

¹⁰şi cu toate amăgirile nelegiuirii pentru ceice sînt pe calea pierzării, pentrucă n'au primit dragostea adevărului ca să fie mîntuiţi.

¹⁰and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

¹¹Din această pricină, Dumnezeu le trimete o lucrare de rătăcire, ca să creadă o minciună:

¹¹Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie;

¹²pentruca toţi cei ce n'au crezut adevărul, ci au găsit plăcere în nelegiuire, să fie osîndiţi.

¹²that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹³Noi însă, fraţi prea iubiţi de Domnul, trebuie să mulţămim totdeauna lui Dumnezeu pentru voi, căci dela început Dumnezeu v'a ales pentru mîntuire, în sfinţirea Duhului şi credinţa adevărului.

¹³But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth;

¹⁴Iată la ce v'a chemat El, prin Evanghelia noastră, ca să căpătaţi slava Domnului nostru Isus Hristos.

¹⁴to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵Aşa dar, fraţilor, rămîneţi tari, şi ţineţi învăţăturile, pe cari le-aţi primit fie prin viu grai, fie prin epistola noastră.

¹⁵So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word, or by letter.

¹⁶Şi însuş Domnul nostru Isus Hristos, şi Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, care ne -a iubit şi ne -a dat, prin harul Său, o mîngîiere vecinică şi o bună nădejde,

¹⁶Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

¹⁷să vă mîngîie inimile, şi să vă întărească în orice lucru şi cuvînt bun!

¹⁷comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
