¹Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

¹Again the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

²,,Fiul omului, arată Ierusalimului urîciunile lui!

²Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations;

³Şi spune -i: ,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu, către cetatea Ierusalimului: ,,Prin obîrşia şi naşterea ta eşti din ţara Cananiţilor; tatăl tău era Amorit, şi mama ta Hetită.

³and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh to Jerusalem: Your birth and your birth is of the land of the Canaanite; the Amorite was your father, and your mother was a Hittite.

⁴La naştere, în ziua cînd te-ai născut, buricul nu ţi s'a tăiat, n'ai fost scăldată în apă, ca să fii curăţită, nici n'ai fost frecată cu sare, şi nici n'ai fost înfăşată în scutece.

⁴As for your birth, in the day you were born your navel was not cut, neither were you washed in water to cleanse you; you weren’t salted at all, nor swaddled at all.

⁵Ochiul nimănui nu s'a îndurat de tine, ca să-ţi facă măcar unul din aceste lucruri, din milă pentru tine; ci ai fost aruncată pe cîmp, aşa de scîrbă le era de tine, în ziua naşterii tale.

⁵No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you, to have compassion on you; but you were cast out in the open field, for that your person was abhorred, in the day that you were born.

⁶Atunci Eu am trecut pe lîngă tine, te-am văzut tăvălită în sîngele tău, şi am zis: ,,Trăieşte chiar şi în sîngele tău!`` Da, ţi-am zis: ,,Trăieşte chiar şi în sîngele tău!``

⁶When I passed by you, and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you, Though you are in your blood, live; yes, I said to you, Though you are in your blood, live.

⁷Te-am înmulţit cu zecile de mii,, ca iarba de pe cîmp. Şi ai crescut, te-ai făcut mare, ai ajuns de o frumuseţă desăvîrşită; ţi s'au rotunjit ţîţele, ţi -a crescut părul. Dar erai tot goală, goală de tot.

⁷I caused you to multiply as that which grows in the field, and you increased and grew great, and you attained to excellent ornament; your breasts were fashioned, and your hair was grown; yet you were naked and bare.

⁸Cînd am trecut Eu pe lîngă tine, M'am uitat la tine, şi iată că îţi venise vremea, vremea dragostelor. Atunci am întins peste tine poala hainei Mele, ţi-am acoprit goliciunea, ţi-am jurat credinţă, am făcut legămînt cu tine, zice Domnul Dumnezeu, şi ai fost a Mea!

⁸Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord Yahweh, and you became mine.

⁹Te-am scăldat în apă, te-am spălat de sîngele de pe tine, şi te-am uns cu untdelemn.

⁹Then washed I you with water; yes, I thoroughly washed away your blood from you, and I anointed you with oil.

¹⁰Ţi-am dat haine cusute cu fir, şi o încălţăminte de piele de viţel de mare, te-am încins cu in supţire, şi te-am îmbrăcat în mătasă.

¹⁰I clothed you also with embroidered work, and shod you with sealskin, and I dressed you about with fine linen, and covered you with silk.

¹¹Te-am împodobit cu scule scumpe, ţi-am pus brăţări la mînă, şi o salbă la gît;

¹¹I decked you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your hands, and a chain on your neck.

¹²ţi-am pus o verigă în nas, cercei în urechi, şi o cunună minunată pe cap.

¹²I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head.

¹³Astfel, ai fost împodobită cu aur şi cu argint, şi ai fost îmbrăcată cu in supţire, cu mătasă şi cusături cu fir. Ai mîncat floarea făinei, miere şi untdelemn. Erai de o frumuseţă desăvîrşită, ba ajunsesei chiar împărăteasă.

¹³Thus you were decked with gold and silver; and your clothing was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered work; you ate fine flour, and honey, and oil; and you were exceeding beautiful, and you prospered to royal estate.

¹⁴Ţi s'a dus vestea printre neamuri, pentru frumuseţa ta; căci era desăvîrşită de tot, datorită strălucirii cu care te împodobisem, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu.``

¹⁴Your renown went forth among the nations for your beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put on you, says the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁵,,Dar te-ai încrezut în frumuseţa ta, şi ai curvit, la adăpostul numelui tău celui mare; ţi-ai revărsat curviile înaintea tuturor trecătorilor, şi te-ai dat lor.

¹⁵But you trusted in your beauty, and played the prostitute because of your renown, and poured out your prostitution on everyone who passed by; his it was.

¹⁶Ai luat şi din hainele tale, ţi-ai făcut înălţimi pe cari le-ai împodobit cu toate colorile, şi ai curvit pe ele: aşa cum nu s'a întîmplat şi nici nu se va mai întîmpla vreodată.

¹⁶You took of your garments, and made for yourselves high places decked with various colors, and played the prostitute on them: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.

¹⁷Ţi-ai luat pînă şi minunatele tale podoabe de aur şi de argint, pe cari ţi le dădusem, şi ţi-ai făcut nişte chipuri de bărbaţi, cu cari ai curvit.

¹⁷You also took your beautiful jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself images of men, and played the prostitute with them;

¹⁸Ţi-ai luat şi hainele cusute la gherghef, le-ai îmbrăcat cu ele şi ai adus acestor chipuri untdelemnul Meu şi tămîia Mea.

¹⁸and you took your embroidered garments, and covered them, and set my oil and my incense before them.

¹⁹Pînea pe care ţi -o dădusem, floarea făinii, untdelemnul şi mierea, cu care te hrăneam, le-ai adus înaintea lor, ca nişte tămîie cu un miros plăcut. Iată ce s'a întîmplat, zice Domnul Dumnezeu!``

¹⁹My bread also which I gave you, fine flour, and oil, and honey, with which I fed you, you even set it before them for a pleasant aroma; and thus it was, says the Lord Yahweh.

²⁰,,Apoi ţi-ai luat fiii şi fiicele, pe cari Mi -i născusei, şi i-ai jertfit lor, ca să le slujească de mîncare. Nu erau oare de ajuns curviile tale,

²⁰Moreover you have taken your sons and your daughters, whom you have borne to me, and you have sacrificed these to them to be devoured. Was your prostitution a small matter,

²¹de Mi-ai mai junghiat fiii, şi i-ai dat, trecîndu -i prin foc în cinstea lor?

²¹that you have slain my children, and delivered them up, in causing them to pass through the fire to them?

²²Şi în mijlocul tuturor urîciunilor şi curviilor tale, nu ţi-ai adus aminte de vremea tinereţei tale, cînd erai goală, goală de tot, şi te zbăteai în sîngele tău!

²²In all your abominations and your prostitution you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, and were wallowing in your blood.

²³După toate aceste răutăţi ale tale, -(vai, vai de tine! zice Domnul Dumnezeu), -

²³It has happened after all your wickedness, (woe, woe to you! says the Lord Yahweh),

²⁴ţi-ai zidit case de curvie, ţi-ai făcut înălţimi în toate pieţele.

²⁴that you have built for yourselves a vaulted place, and have made yourselves a lofty place in every street.

²⁵La toate colţurile uliţelor ţi-ai făcut înălţimi, ţi-ai necinstit frumuseţea, ţi-ai desfăcut picioarele înaintea tuturor trecătorilor, ai făcut tot mai multe curvii.

²⁵You have built your lofty place at the head of every way, and have made your beauty an abomination, and have opened your feet to everyone who passed by, and multiplied your prostitution.

²⁶Ai curvit cu Egiptenii, vecinii tăi, cu trupul plin de vlagă, şi ţi-ai înmulţit curviile, ca să Mă mînii.

²⁶You have also committed sexual immorality with the Egyptians, your neighbors, great of flesh; and have multiplied your prostitution, to provoke me to anger.

²⁷Dar iată că Mi-am întins mîna împotriva ta, am micşorat partea de întreţinere pe care ţi -o rînduisem, te-am lăsat în voia vrăjmaşelor tale, fiicele Filistenilor, cari au roşit de purtarea ta nelegiuită.

²⁷See therefore, I have stretched out my hand over you, and have diminished your ordinary food, and delivered you to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your lewd way.

²⁸Apoi ai curvit cu Asirienii, pentrucă erai fără saţ; ai curvit cu ei, şi tot nu te-ai săturat.

²⁸You have played the prostitute also with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; yes, you have played the prostitute with them, and yet you weren’t satisfied.

²⁹Ţi-ai înmulţit curviile cu ţara Canaanului şi pînă în Haldea, dar nici acolo nu te-ai săturat.

²⁹You have moreover multiplied your prostitution to the land of merchants, to Chaldea; and yet you weren’t satisfied with this.

³⁰Ce slăbiciune de inimă ai avut, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu, de ai făcut toate aceste lucruri, cari sînt fapta unei ibovnice dedate la curvie,

³⁰How weak is your heart, says the Lord Yahweh, since you do all these things, the work of an impudent prostitute;

³¹zidindu-ţi case de curvie la toate colţurile uliţelor, şi făcîndu-ţi înălţimi în toate pieţele; n'ai fost nici măcar ca o curvă care-şi cere plata.

³¹in that you build your vaulted place at the head of every way, and make your lofty place in every street, and have not been as a prostitute, in that you scorn pay.

³²Ai fost femeia prea curvă, care primeşte pe străini în locul bărbatului ei!

³²A wife who commits adultery! who takes strangers instead of her husband!

³³Tuturor curvelor li se plăteşte o plată; dar tu ai dat daruri tuturor ibovnicilor tăi, i-ai cîştigat prin daruri, ca să -i tragi la tine din toate părţile şi să curveşti cu ei.

³³They give gifts to all prostitutes; but you give your gifts to all your lovers, and bribe them, that they may come to you on every side for your prostitution.

³⁴Ai fost cu totul altfel decît celelalte curve, întrucît nimeni nu umbla după tine, ci tu plăteai celor ce veneau la tine, în loc ca tu să fii plătită de ei. De aceea ai fost cu totul altfel decît altele.``

³⁴You are different from other women in your prostitution, in that no one follows you to play the prostitute; and whereas you give hire, and no hire is given to you, therefore you are different.

³⁵,,De aceea, ascultă, curvo, Cuvîntul Domnului!

³⁵Therefore, prostitute, hear the word of Yahweh:

³⁶Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu: ,,Pentrucă ţi-ai risipit banii în felul acesta, şi ţi-ai descoperit goliciunea în curviile tale cu ibovnicii tăi şi cu toţi idolii tăi urîcioşi, şi din pricina sîngelui copiilor tăi, pe cari li i-ai dat,

³⁶Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Because your filthiness was poured out, and your nakedness uncovered through your prostitution with your lovers; and because of all the idols of your abominations, and for the blood of your children, that you gave to them;

³⁷de aceea, iată, voi strînge pe toţi ibovnicii cu cari te desmierdai, pe toţi aceia pe cari i-ai iubit şi pe toţi aceia pe cari i-ai urît, da, îi voi strînge împotriva ta din toate părţile, îţi voi desveli goliciunea înaintea lor, şi îţi vor vedea toată goliciunea.

³⁷therefore see, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have taken pleasure, and all those who you have loved, with all those who you have hated; I will even gather them against you on every side, and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness.

³⁸Te voi judeca aşa cum se judecă femeile prea curve şi ucigătoare de copii, şi voi face din tine o jertfă sîngeroasă a urgiei şi geloziei.

³⁸I will judge you, as women who break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy.

³⁹Te voi da în mînile lor; îţi vor surpa casele de curvie, şi îţi vor nimici înălţimile; te vor desbrăca de hainele tale, îţi vor lua toată podoaba de pietre scumpe, şi te vor lăsa goală, goală de tot.

³⁹I will also give you into their hand, and they shall throw down your vaulted place, and break down your lofty places; and they shall strip you of your clothes, and take your beautiful jewels; and they shall leave you naked and bare.

⁴⁰Vor aduce gloata împotriva ta, te vor ucide cu pietre şi te vor străpunge cu lovituri de sabie.

⁴⁰They shall also bring up a company against you, and they shall stone you with stones, and thrust you through with their swords.

⁴¹Îţi vor arde casele cu foc, şi se vor răzbuna pe tine, înaintea unei mulţimi de femei. Voi face să înceteze astfel curvia ta, şi nu vei mai da plată de curvă.

⁴¹They shall burn your houses with fire, and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women; and I will cause you to cease from playing the prostitute, and you shall also give no hire any more.

⁴²Îmi voi potoli mînia împotriva ta, şi nu voi mai fi gelos pe tine; Mă voi linişti, nu voi mai fi supărat.

⁴²So will I cause my wrath toward you to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from you, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.

⁴³Pentru că nu ţi-ai adus aminte de vremea tinereţei tale, ci M'ai aţîţat prin toate aceste lucruri, iată, voi face ca purtarea ta să cadă asupra capului tău, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu, ca să nu mai săvîrşeşti alte nelegiuiri cu toate urîciunile tale!``

⁴³Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring your way on your head, says the Lord Yahweh: and you shall not commit this lewdness with all your abominations.

⁴⁴,,Iată că toţi cei ce spun zicători, vor spune despre tine zicătoarea aceasta: ,Cum este mama aşa şi fata!`

⁴⁴Behold, everyone who uses proverbs shall use this proverb against you, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.

⁴⁵Tu eşti fata mamei tale, care s'a desgustat de bărbatul şi copiii ei. Tu eşti sora surorilor tale, cari s'au desgustat de bărbaţii şi copiii lor. Mama voastră era o Hetită şi tatăl vostru un Amorit.

⁴⁵You are the daughter of your mother, who loathes her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children: your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

⁴⁶Sora ta cea mai mare, care locuieşte la miază-noapte de tine, este Samaria, ea şi fiicele ei; şi sora ta cea mai mică este Sodoma şi fiicele ei, şi locuieşte la miază-zi de tine.

⁴⁶Your elder sister is Samaria, who dwells at your left hand, she and her daughters; and your younger sister, who dwells at your right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.

⁴⁷Tu nu numai că ai umblat pe căile lor, şi ai săvîrşit aceleaşi urîciuni, ci, ca şi cum atît ar fi fost prea puţin, ai fost mai stricată decît ele în toate purtările tale.

⁴⁷Yet have you not walked in their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, as if that were a very little thing , you were more corrupt than they in all your ways.

⁴⁸Pe viaţa Mea, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu că sora ta Sodoma, şi fiicele ei n'au făcut ce aţi făcut voi, tu şi fiicele tale.

⁴⁸As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, Sodom your sister has not done, she nor her daughters, as you have done, you and your daughters.

⁴⁹Iată care a fost nelegiuirea sorei tale Sodoma: era îngîmfată, trăia în belşug şi într'o linişte nepăsătoare, ea şi fiicele ei, şi nu sprijinea mîna celui nenorocit şi celui lipsit.

⁴⁹Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

⁵⁰Ele s'au semeţit, şi au făcut urîciuni blestemate înaintea Mea; de aceea le-am şi nimicit, cînd am văzut lucrul acesta.

⁵⁰They were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

⁵¹Samaria n'a făcut nici jumătate din păcatele tale; urîciunile tale au fost mai multe decît ale ei, aşa că ai uşurat vina surorilor tale prin toate urîciunile pe cari le-ai făcut acum.

⁵¹Neither has Samaria committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters by all your abominations which you have done.

⁵²Tu, care uşurai vina surorilor tale, prin purtrea ta, sufere acum urmările răutăţii tale; prin păcatele tale, prin cari te-ai făcut mai urîcioasă decît ele, acum le faci mai uşoară vina decît a ta; deaceea acopere-te de ruşine, şi poartă-ţi ocara, fiindcă ai uşurat vina surorilor tale!

⁵²You also, bear you your own shame, in that you have given judgment for your sisters; through your sins that you have committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous that you: yes, be also confounded, and bear your shame, in that you have justified your sisters.

⁵³Voi aduce înapoi pe prinşii lor de război, pe prinşii de război ai Sodomei şi ai fiicelor ei, pe prinşii de război ai Samariei şi ai fiicelor ei, şi pe prinşii tăi de război în mijlocul lor,

⁵³I will turn again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of your captives in their midst;

⁵⁴ca să-ţi suferi ocara, şi să roşeşti pentru tot ce ai făcut, slujindu-le ca o pricină de mîngîiere.

⁵⁴that you may bear your own shame, and may be ashamed because of all that you have done, in that you are a comfort to them.

⁵⁵Astfel, surorile tale: Sodoma şi fiicele ei, se vor întoarce iarăş la starea lor de mai înainte, şi Samaria şi fiicele ei se vor întoarce iarăş la starea lor de mai înainte, şi tu şi fiicele tale vă veţi întoarce iarăş la starea voastră de mai înainte.

⁵⁵Your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate; and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate; and you and your daughters shall return to your former estate.

⁵⁶Nu vorbeai deloc despre sora ta Sodoma, în vremea mîndriei tale,

⁵⁶For your sister Sodom was not mentioned by your mouth in the day of your pride,

⁵⁷mai înainte de vădirea răutăţii tale, cînd ai primit batjocurile fiicelor Siriei, ale tuturor vecinilor tăi, şi ale fiicelor Filistenilor, cari te dispreţuiesc de jur împrejur!

⁵⁷before your wickedness was uncovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all who are around her, the daughters of the Philistines, who do despite to you all around.

⁵⁸Trebuie să-ţi porţi, în adevăr, nelegiuirile şi urîciunile, zice Domnul.``

⁵⁸You have borne your lewdness and your abominations, says Yahweh.

⁵⁹Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Îţi voi face întocamai cum ai făcut şi tu, care au nesocotit jurămîntul, rupînd legămîntul!

⁵⁹For thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will also deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant.

⁶⁰Dar Îmi voi aduce aminte de legămîntul Meu făcut cu tine în vremea tinereţii tale, şi voi face cu tine un legămînt vecinic.

⁶⁰Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant.

⁶¹Atunci îţi vei aduce aminte de purtarea ta, te vei ruşina, cînd vei primi la tine pe surorile tale, mai mari şi mai mici, pe cari ţi le voi dat ca fiice, dar nu pe temeiul legămîntului făcut cu tine.

⁶¹Then you shall remember your ways, and be ashamed, when you shall receive your sisters, your elder sisters and your younger; and I will give them to you for daughters, but not by your covenant.

⁶²Voi face legămîntul Meu cu tine, şi vei şti că Eu sînt Domnul,

⁶²I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall know that I am Yahweh;

⁶³ca să-ţi aduci aminte de trecut şi să roşeşti, şi să nu mai deschizi gura de ruşine, cînd îţi voi ierta tot ce ai făcut, zice Domnul Dumnezeu.``

⁶³that you may remember, and be confounded, and never open your mouth any more, because of your shame, when I have forgiven you all that you have done, says the Lord Yahweh.
