¹Şi Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

¹The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

²,,Fiul omului, întoarce-ţi faţa spre Ierusalim, şi vorbeşte împotriva locurilor sfinte, prooroceşte împotriva ţării lui Israel!

²Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and drop your word toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel;

³Spune ţării lui Israel: ,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,,Iată, am necaz pe tine, Îmi voi trage sabia din teacă şi voi nimici cu desăvîrşire în mijlocul tău pe cel neprihănit şi pe cel rău.

³and tell the land of Israel, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.

⁴Pentrucă vreau să nimicesc cu desăvîrşire din mijlocul tău pe cel neprihănit şi pe cel rău, sabia Mea va ieşi din teacă, pentruca să lovească orice făptură, dela miazăzi pînă la miază noapte.

⁴Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:

⁵Şi orice făptură va şti că Eu, Domnul, Mi-am scos sabia din teacă, şi nu se va mai întoarce înapoi în ea.

⁵and all flesh shall know that I, Yahweh, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more.

⁶Şi tu, fiul omului, gemi! Cu rărunchii zdrobiţi, şi cu amărăciunea în suflet, gemi supt privirile lor!

⁶Sigh therefore, you son of man; with the breaking of your thighs and with bitterness you will sigh before their eyes.

⁷Şi dacă te vor întreba: ,,Pentru ce gemi?`` să răspunzi: ,,Pentru că vine o veste``... Cînd va veni, toate inimile se vor înspăimînta, toate mînile vor slăbi, toate sufletele se vor mîhni, şi toţi genunchii se vor topi ca apa!... Iată că vine, a sosit, -zice Domnul, Dumnezeu!``

⁷It shall be, when they tell you, Why do you sigh? that you shall say, Because of the news, for it comes; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord Yahweh.

⁸Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

⁸The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

⁹,,Fiul omului, prooroceşte şi spune: ,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul. Zi: ,,Sabia, da, sabia este ascuţită, şi lustruită.

⁹Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says Yahweh: Say, A sword, a sword, it is sharpened, and also furbished;

¹⁰Este ascuţită pentru măcel, şi lustruită ca să lucească!... O, sabie, tu tai toiagul de cîrmuire al fiului meu, care nesocoteşte orice lemn...

¹⁰it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it condemns every tree.

¹¹A dat -o la lustruit, ca s'o apuce cu mîna; este ascuţită sabia, şi lustruită, ca să înarmeze mîna celui ce măcelăreşte.

¹¹It is given to be furbished, that it may be handled: the sword, it is sharpened, yes, it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the killer.

¹²Strigă şi vaită-te, fiul omului! Căci este scoasă împotriva poporului Meu, împotriva tuturor voivozilor lui Israel, cari sînt daţi pradă săbiei împreună cu poporul Meu; deaceea bate-te pe coapsă!

¹²Cry and wail, son of man; for it is on my people, it is on all the princes of Israel: they are delivered over to the sword with my people; strike therefore on your thigh.

¹³Da, încercarea s'a făcut, şi ce va fi dacă toiagul acesta de cîrmuire, care nesocoteşte totul, va fi nimicit? zice Domnul Dumnezeu!``

¹³For there is a trial; and what if even the rod that condemns shall be no more? says the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁴,,Şi tu, fiul omului, prooroceşte, şi bate din mîni! Loviturile săbiei să fie îndoite, întreite! Este sabia de măcel, sabia măcelului celui mare, care îi urmăreşte de toate părţile.

¹⁴You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike your hands together; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the deadly wounded: it is the sword of the great one who is deadly wounded, which enters into their rooms.

¹⁵Ca să arunc groaza în inimi, ca să înmulţesc pe cei loviţi, deaceea am tras sabia, ameninţîndu -i la toate porţile lor. Vai! e făcută să fulgere, şi ascuţită pentru măcel!

¹⁵I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter.

¹⁶Strînge-ţi puterile, sabie, întoarce-te la dreapta! Aşează-te, întoarce-te la stînga! Îndreaptă-ţi ascuţişul în toate părţile!

¹⁶Gather yourselves together, go to the right, set yourselves in array, go to the left, wherever your face is set.

¹⁷Şi Eu voi bate din mîni de bucurie, şi Îmi voi potoli urgia. Eu, Domnul, vorbesc!``

¹⁷I will also strike my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest: I, Yahweh, have spoken it.

¹⁸Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

¹⁸The word of Yahweh came to me again, saying,

¹⁹,,Fiul omului, croieşte-ţi două drumuri pe unde să treacă sabia împăratului Babilonului! Amîndouă trebuie să iasă din aceeaş ţară. Fă un semn pe drum, fă -l la începutul drumului care duce într -o cetate.

¹⁹Also, you son of man, appoint two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; they both shall come forth out of one land: and mark out a place, mark it out at the head of the way to the city.

²⁰Să faci unul din aceste drumuri aşa ca sabia că vină la Raba, cetatea copiilor lui Amon, şi pe celalt, aşa ca sabia să vină în Iuda, la Ierusalim, cetatea întărită.

²⁰You shall appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.

²¹Căci împăratul Babilonului stă la răscruce, la capătul celor două drumuri, ca să dea cu bobii; el scutură săgeţile, întreabă terafimii, şi cercetează ficatul.

²¹For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shook the arrows back and forth, he consulted the teraphim, he looked in the liver.

²²Sorţul, care este în dreapta lui, înseamnă Ierusalimul, unde vor trebui să ridice berbeci, să dea poruncă pentru măcel, şi să scoată strigăte de război; vor ridica berbeci împotriva porţilor, vor ridica întărituri şi vor face şanţuri de apărare.

²²In his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, to build forts.

²³Copiii lui Israel nu văd în aceasta decît nişte vrăjitorii deşerte, ei cari au făcut jurăminte mincinoase. Dar împăratul Babilonului îşi aduce aminte de nelegiuirea lor, aşa că vor fi prinşi.

²³It shall be to them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths to them; but he brings iniquity to memory, that they may be taken.

²⁴De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Pentrucă vă făliţi cu nelegiuirea voastră, vădindu-vă fărădelegile, arătîndu-vă păcatele în toate faptele voastre; pentrucă vă făliţi cu ele, veţi fi prinşi de mîna lui!

²⁴Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because you have come to memory, you shall be taken with the hand.

²⁵Şi tu, domn nelegiuit, gata să fii ucis, domn al lui Israel, a cărui zi vine tocmai cînd nelegiuirea este la culme!

²⁵You, deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day has come, in the time of the iniquity of the end,

²⁶Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu: ,,La o parte cu mitra, jos cununa înpărătească! Nu mai este cum a fost. Ce este plecat va fi înălţat, şi ce este înălţat va fi plecat!

²⁶thus says the Lord Yahweh: Remove the turban, and take off the crown; this shall be no more the same; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.

²⁷Voi da jos cununa, o voi da jos, o voi da jos. Dar lucrul acesta nu va avea loc loc decît la venirea Aceluia care are drept la ea, şi în mîna căruia o voi încredinţa.``

²⁷I will overturn, overturn, overturn it: this also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

²⁸,,Şi tu, fiul omului, prooroceşte, şi spune: ,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu, despre copiii lui Amon şi despre ocara lor. Spune: ,,Sabia, da, sabia este scoasă pentru măcel; este lustruită pentru nimicire, ca să lucească!

²⁸You, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

²⁹În mijlocul vedeniilor cu cari te înşală ei şi în mijlocul proorociilor mincinoase pe cari ţi le fac ei, te vor face să cazi între trupurile moarte ale celor răi, a căror zi vine tocmai cînd nelegiuirea lor este la culme.

²⁹while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies to you, to lay you on the necks of the wicked who are deadly wounded, whose day has come in the time of the iniquity of the end.

³⁰Bagă-ţi sabia înapoi în teacă. În locul în care ai fost făcut, în ţara ta de naştere, te voi judeca!

³⁰Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where you were created, in the land of your birth, will I judge you.

³¹Îmi voi vărsa mînia peste tine, voi sufla împotriva ta cu focul urgiei Mele, şi te voi da în mînile unor oameni cari nu lucrează decît la nimicire.

³¹I will pour out my indignation on you; I will blow on you with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver you into the hand of brutish men, skillful to destroy.

³²Vei fi ars de foc; sîngele tău va curge în mijlocul ţării! Nu-şi vor mai aduce aminte de tine! Căci Eu, Domnul, am vorbit.``

³²You shall be for fuel to the fire; your blood shall be in the midst of the land; you shall be remembered no more: for I, Yahweh, have spoken it.
