¹Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

¹The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying,

²,,Fiul omului, erau două femei, fiice ale aceleiaşi mame.

²Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:

³Ele au curvit în Egipt, au curvit în tinereţa lor; acolo le-au fost strîns ţîţele, acolo le -a fost atîns sînul fecioresc.

³and they played the prostitute in Egypt; they played the prostitute in their youth; there were their breasts pressed, and there was handled the bosom of their virginity.

⁴Cea mai mare se chema Ohola, şi sora ei Oholiba. Erau ale Mele, şi au născut fii şi fiice.`` Ohola este Samaria; Oholiba este Ierusalimul.

⁴Their names were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister: and they became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names, Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah.

⁵Ohola nu Mi -a fost credincioasă; s'a aprins de dragoste pentru ibovnicii ei, după Asirieni, vecinii ei,

⁵Oholah played the prostitute when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbors,

⁶îmbrăcaţi cu ştofe văpsite în albastru, dregători şi căpetenii, toţi tineri şi plăcuţi, călăreţi călări pe cai.

⁶who were clothed with blue, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses.

⁷Ea a curvit cu ei, cu toată fruntea copiilor Asiriei; s'a spurcat cu toţi aceia pentru cari umbla nebună, s'a spurcat cu toţi idolii lor.

⁷She bestowed her prostitution on them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them; and on whoever she doted, with all their idols she defiled herself.

⁸Nu s'a lăsat nici de curviile ei din Egipt, căci aceştia se culcaseră cu ea din tinereţa ei, îi atinseseră sînul fecioresc, şi îşi vărsaseră curviile peste ea.

⁸Neither has she left her prostitution since the days of Egypt; for in her youth they lay with her, and they handled the bosom of her virginity; and they poured out their prostitution on her.

⁹De aceea, am dat -o în mînile ibovnicilor ei, în mînile copiilor Asiriei, pentru cari se aprinsese de dragoste.

⁹Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, on whom she doted.

¹⁰Ei i-au descoperit goliciunea, i-au luat fiii şi fiicele, şi pe ea au ucis -o cu sabia, de i s'a dus vestea printre femei, după judecăţile făcute de ei asupra ei.

¹⁰These uncovered her nakedness; they took her sons and her daughters; and her they killed with the sword: and she became a byword among women; for they executed judgments on her.

¹¹Sora ei Oholiba a văzut lucrul acesta, şi a fost mai fără frîu, de cît ea în patima ei; şi a întrecut pe soru-sa în curvii.

¹¹Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet was she more corrupt in her doting than she, and in her prostitution which were more than the prostitution of her sister.

¹²Ea s'a aprins de dragoste după copiii Asiriei, după dregători şi căpetenii, vecinii ei, îmbrăcaţi în chip strălucit, călăreţi călări pe cai, toţi tineri şi plăcuţi.

¹²She doted on the Assyrians, governors and rulers, her neighbors, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding on horses, all of them desirable young men.

¹³Am văzut că se spurcase, întocmai ca cea dintîi din amîndouă.

¹³I saw that she was defiled; they both took one way.

¹⁴Ea a mers chiar mai departe în curviile ei. A zărit pe ziduri nişte zugrăveli de bărbaţi, nişte icoane de Haldei zugrăviţi cu coloare roşie,

¹⁴She increased her prostitution; for she saw men portrayed on the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion,

¹⁵cu brîie împrejurul coapselor lor, cu turbane de felurite colori pe cap, toţi avînd înfăţişarea unor viteji, după felul Babilonenilor, a căror ţară de naştere este Haldea; şi s'a aprins după ei,

¹⁵dressed with girdles on their waists, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them princes to look on, after the likeness of the Babylonians in Chaldea, the land of their birth.

¹⁶la cea dintîi privire, şi le -a trimes soli în Haldea.

¹⁶As soon as she saw them she doted on them, and sent messengers to them into Chaldea.

¹⁷Şi copiii Babilonului au venit la ea, în patul de dragoste, şi au spurcat -o cu curviile lor. Aşa că ea s'a spurcat cu ei, şi apoi inima i s'a înstrăinat de ei.

¹⁷The Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their prostitution, and she was polluted with them, and her soul was alienated from them.

¹⁸Şi cînd şi -a dezgolit ea necurăţia, şi -a descoperit goliciunea, şi inima Mea s'a înstrăinat de ea, cum se înstrăinase şi de soru-sa.

¹⁸So she uncovered her prostitution, and uncovered her nakedness: then my soul was alienated from her, like as my soul was alienated from her sister.

¹⁹Dar ea şi -a înmulţit curviile tot mai mult, gîndindu-se iarăş la zilele tinereţei ei, cînd curvea în ţara Egiptului.

¹⁹Yet she multiplied her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth, in which she had played the prostitute in the land of Egypt.

²⁰Ea s'a aprins după nişte necuraţi, a căror carne era ca a măgarilor, şi a căror apropiere era ca a armăsarilor.

²⁰She doted on their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of donkeys, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

²¹Astfel, ţi-ai înoit iarăş nelegiuirile tinereţei tale, cînd Egiptenii îţi strîngeau ţîţele, din pricina sînului tău fecioresc.

²¹Thus you called to memory the lewdness of your youth, in the handling of your bosom by the Egyptians for the breasts of your youth.

²²Deaceea, Oholiba, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Iată că aţîţ împotriva ta pe ibovnicii tăi, de cari ţi-ai înstrăinat inima, şi -i aduc din toate părţile împotriva ta:

²²Therefore, Oholibah, thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will raise up your lovers against you, from whom your soul is alienated, and I will bring them against you on every side:

²³pe Babiloneni şi pe toţi Haldeii, căpitani, voivozi şi domni, şi pe toţi copiii Asiriei împreună cu ei, tineri şi plăcuţi, toţi dregători şi căpetenii, oameni vestiţi, toţi călări pe cai.

²³the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them; desirable young men, governors and rulers all of them, princes and men of renown, all of them riding on horses.

²⁴Ei vin împotriva ta cu arme, cară şi roţi, şi cu o mulţime de popoare. Cu scut, pavăză şi coifuri, înaintează de toate părţile împotriva ta. Lor le încredinţez judecata, şi te vor judeca după legile lor

²⁴They shall come against you with weapons, chariots, and wagons, and with a company of peoples; they shall set themselves against you with buckler and shield and helmet all around; and I will commit the judgment to them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments.

²⁵Te fac să-Mi simţi gelozia, şi se vor purta cu urgie cu tine. Îţi vor tăia nasul şi urechile, şi sămînţa ta va cădea lovită de sabie. Îţi vor lua fiii şi fiicele, şi ce-ţi va mai rămînea, va fi mîncat de foc.

²⁵I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal with you in fury; they shall take away your nose and your ears; and your residue shall fall by the sword: they shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire.

²⁶Te vor desbrăca de haine, şi vor lua podoabele scumpe cu cari te găteşti.

²⁶They shall also strip you of your clothes, and take away your beautiful jewels.

²⁷Voi pune astfel capăt nelegiuirilor tale şi curviilor tale din ţara Egiptului. Aşa că nu-ţi vei mai îndrepta privirile spre ei, şi nu te ve mai gîndi la Egipt.

²⁷Thus will I make your lewdness to cease from you, and your prostitution brought from the land of Egypt; so that you shall not lift up your eyes to them, nor remember Egypt any more.

²⁸Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Iată, te dau în mînile acelora de cari ţi s'a înstrăinat inima.

²⁸For thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of them whom you hate, into the hand of them from whom your soul is alienated;

²⁹Se vor purta cu ură cu tine; îţi vor ridica toate bogăţiile, şi te vor lăsa goală, goală de tot. Ruşinea necurăţiilor tale se va descoperi, ruşinea nelegiuirilor şi curviilor tale.

²⁹and they shall deal with you in hatred, and shall take away all your labor, and shall leave you naked and bare; and the nakedness of your prostitution shall be uncovered, both your lewdness and your prostitution.

³⁰Lucrurile acestea ţi se vor întîmpla, pentrucă ai curvit cu neamurile, pentrucă te-ai spurcat cu idolii lor.

³⁰These things shall be done to you, because you have played the prostitute after the nations, and because you are polluted with their idols.

³¹Ai mers pe calea sorei tale, deaceea, şi Eu îţi pun potirul ei în mînă.

³¹You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I give her cup into your hand.

³²Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Vei bea potirul sorei tale, cel larg şi adînc; vei ajunge de rîs şi de batjocură. Încape mult în el!

³²Thus says the Lord Yahweh: You will drink of your sister’s cup, which is deep and large; you will be ridiculed and held in derision; it contains much.

³³Te vei umplea de beţie şi durere; căci potirul sorei tale Samaria este un potir de groază şi spaimă!

³³You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of your sister Samaria.

³⁴Îl vei bea şi îl vei goli, îi vei roade cioburile, şi-ţi vei sfîşia tîţele. Căci Eu am vorbit, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu.``

³⁴You shall even drink it and drain it out, and you shall gnaw the broken pieces of it, and shall tear your breasts; for I have spoken it, says the Lord Yahweh.

³⁵Deaceea aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Pentrucă M'ai uitat, pentrucă M-ai aruncat la spate-ţi, poartă-ţi şi tu acum pedeapsa nelegiuirilor şi curviilor tale.``

³⁵Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you have forgotten me, and cast me behind your back, therefore you also bear your lewdness and your prostitution.

³⁶Domnul mi -a zis: ,,Fiul omului, vrei să judeci pe Ohola şi Oholiba? Pune-le înainte urîciunile lor!

³⁶Yahweh said moreover to me: Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? then declare to them their abominations.

³⁷Ele s-au dedat la preacurvie, şi pe mînile lor este sînge: au preacurvit cu idolii lor; şi copiii pe cari Mi -i născuseră, i-au trecut prin foc în cinstea lor, ca să -i mănînce!

³⁷For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands; and with their idols have they committed adultery; and they have also caused their sons, whom they bore to me, to pass through the fire to them to be devoured.

³⁸Afară de aceasta iată ce Mi-au mai făcut: Mi-au spurcat Locaşul cel sfînt în aceiaş zi, şi Mi-au pîngărit Sabatele.

³⁸Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my Sabbaths.

³⁹Căci dupăce şi-au jertfit copiii la idolii lor, tot în ziua aceea s'au dus şi în Locaşul Meu cel sfînt, ca să -l spurce. Iată ce au făcut în Casa Mea.

³⁹For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and behold, thus have they done in the midst of my house.

⁴⁰Au umblat chiar după oamenii, cari veneau de departe, le-au trimes soli, şi iată că ei au venit. Pentru ei te-ai scăldat tu, te-ai sulemenit la ochi, şi te-ai gătit cu podoabele tale;

⁴⁰Furthermore you have sent for men who come from far, to whom a messenger was sent, and behold, they came; for whom you did wash yourself, paint your eyes, and decorate yourself with ornaments,

⁴¹ai şezut pe un pat măreţ, înaintea căruia era întinsă o masă, pe care ai pus tămîia şi untdelemnul Meu.

⁴¹and sit on a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon you set my incense and my oil.

⁴²S'au auzit strigătele unei mulţimi vesele; şi cu mulţimea aceasta de oameni de rînd au adus nişte beţivi din pustie, cari au pus brăţări în mînile celor două surori şi mîndre cununi pe capetele lor.

⁴²The voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with men of the common sort were brought drunkards from the wilderness; and they put bracelets on their hands twain, and beautiful crowns on their heads.

⁴³Am zis atunci cu privire la curva cea bătrînă: ,,Şi acum îşi va urma ea oare curviile, şi tot vor mai veni la ea?``

⁴³Then I said of her who was old in adulteries, Now will they play the prostitute with her, and she with them.

⁴⁴Şi au venit la ea cum vin la o curvă; aşa s'au dus la Ohola şi Oholiba, la aceste femei nelegiuite.

⁴⁴They went in to her, as they go in to a prostitute: so went they in to Oholah and to Oholibah, the lewd women.

⁴⁵De aceea oamenii fără prihană le vor osîndi, cum se osîndesc femeile preacurve, cum se osîndesc cele ce varsă sînge; căci sînt prea curve, şi au sînge pe mîni.

⁴⁵Righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.

⁴⁶Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Voi aduce împotriva lor o mulţime de gloată mare, şi le voi da pradă chinului şi jafului.

⁴⁶For thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be tossed back and forth and robbed.

⁴⁷Adunarea le va ucide cu pietre, şi le va doborî cu lovituri de sabie; le vor ucide fiii şi fiicele lor, şi le vor arde casele cu foc.

⁴⁷The company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall kill their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.

⁴⁸Voi face astfel să înceteze nelegiuirea în ţară; ca toate femeile să ia învăţătură, şi să nu mai facă o nelegiuire ca a voastră!

⁴⁸Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.

⁴⁹Vi se va răsplăti astfel nelegiuirea, şi veţi purta păcatele săvîrşite cu idolii voştri, şi veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeu!``

⁴⁹They shall recompense your lewdness on you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols; and you shall know that I am the Lord Yahweh.
