¹În anul al nouălea, în ziua a zecea a lunii a zecea, Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

¹Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

²,,Fiul omului, scrie numele zilei acesteia, numele zilei de azi! Căci chiar în ziua aceasta se apropie împăratul Babilonului de Ierusalim.

²Son of man, write the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon drew close to Jerusalem this same day.

³Spune o pildă acestei case de îndărătnici, şi zi-le: ,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Pune, pune cazanul, şi toarnă apă în el!

³Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:

⁴Pune bucăţi de carne în el, toate bucăţile cele bune, coapsa şi spata, şi umple -l cu cele mai bune oase.

⁴gather its pieces into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

⁵Alege ce e mai bun din turmă, şi pune lemnele grămadă supt cazan; fă -l să fiarbă în clocot mare, şi să fiarbă şi oasele din el``.

⁵Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile of wood for the bones under the caldron; make it boil well; yes, let its bones be boiled in its midst.

⁶De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Vai de cetatea cea setoasă de sînge, cazanul cel plin de rugină, şi de pe care nu se ia rugina! Scoateţi bucăţile din el unele după altele, fără să trageţi la sorţi.

⁶Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen on it.

⁷Căci sîngele pe care l -a vărsat ea este încă în mijlocul ei. L -a pus pe stînca goală, nu l -a vărsat pe pămînt, ca să -l acopere apoi cu ţărînă.

⁷For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it on the bare rock; she didn’t pour it on the ground, to cover it with dust.

⁸Ca să-Mi arăt urgia, ca să Mă răzbun, i-am vărsat sîngele pe stînca goală, pentruca să nu fie acoperit.

⁸That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood on the bare rock, that it should not be covered.

⁹De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: ,,Vai de cetatea cea setoasă de sînge! Vreau să fac un rug mare!

⁹Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.

¹⁰Îngrămădeşte multe lemne, aprinde focul, fierbe bine carnea, fă fertura groasă, ca să se ardă şi ciolanele.

¹⁰Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned.

¹¹Apoi pune cazanul gol pe jăratic, ca să se încălzească, să i se înferbînte arama, să i se topească murdăria din lăuntru, şi să i se şteargă rugina.

¹¹Then set it empty on its coals, that it may be hot, and its brass may burn, and that its filthiness may be molten in it, that its rust may be consumed.

¹²Trudă de geaba! Căci rugina de care este plin nu se deslipeşte de el; rugina nu se va lua de pe el de cît prin foc,

¹²She has wearied herself with toil; yet her great rust doesn’t go forth out of her; her rust doesn’t go forth by fire.

¹³şi tu doreşti iarăş nelegiuire în spurcăciunea ta! Pentrucă am vrut să te curăţ şi nu te-ai făcut curată, nu vei mai fi curăţită de spurcăciunea ta pînă Îmi voi potoli mînia asupra ta.

¹³In your filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed you and you weren’t cleansed, you shall not be cleansed from your filthiness any more, until I have caused my wrath toward you to rest.

¹⁴Eu, Domnul, am vorbit! Lucrul acesta se va întîmpla, şi Eu îl voi împlini! Nu Mă voi lăsa, nu voi avea milă, nici nu Mă voi căi. Vei fi judecată după puterea ta şi după faptele tale, zice Domnul, Dumnezeu.``

¹⁴I, Yahweh, have spoken it: it shall happen, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to your ways, and according to your doings, shall they judge you, says the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁵Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

¹⁵Also the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

¹⁶,,Fiul omului, iată, îţi voi răpi printr'o lovitură ce ţi -e mai scump în ochi. Dar să nu te jăleşti, nici să nu plîngi, şi să nu-ţi curgă lacrămile pentru ea.

¹⁶Son of man, behold, I will take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet you shall neither mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down.

¹⁷Suspină în tăcere, dar nu plînge ca la morţi! Leagă-ţi turbanul, pune-ţi încălţămintea în picioare, nu-ţi acoperi barba, şi nu mînca pînea de jale!``

¹⁷Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind your headdress on you, and put your shoes on your feet, and don’t cover your lips, and don’t eat men’s bread.

¹⁸Vorbisem poporului dimineaţa, şi seara mi -a murit nevasta. A doua zi dimineaţa, am făcut cum mi se poruncise.

¹⁸So I spoke to the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

¹⁹Poporul mi -a zis: ,,Nu vrei să ne lămureşti ce înseamnă pentru noi ceeace faci?``

¹⁹The people said to me, Won’t you tell us what these things are to us, that you do so?

²⁰Eu le-am răspuns: ,,Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit, astfel:

²⁰Then I said to them, The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

²¹,,Spune casei lui Israel: ,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu: Iată, voi pîngări Locaşul Meu cel sfînt, fala puterii voastre, ce vă e mai scump în ochi, lucrul iubit de voi; şi fiii voştri şi fiicele voastre, pe cari i-aţi lăsat după voi, vor cădea ucişi de sabie.

²¹Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pities; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left behind shall fall by the sword.

²²Şi atunci veţi face cum am făcut şi eu. Nu vă veţi acoperi barba şi nu veţi mînca pînea de jale,

²²You shall do as I have done: you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.

²³veţi sta cu turbane pe cap şi cu încălţămintea în picioare, nu vă veţi jăli şi nici nu veţi plînge; ci veţi tînji pentru nelegiuirile voastre, şi vă veţi văita între voi.

²³Your tires shall be on your heads, and your shoes on your feet: you shall not mourn nor weep; but you shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.

²⁴Ezechiel va fi un semn pentru voi. Veţi face întocmai cum a făcut el. Şi cînd se vor întîmpla aceste lucruri, veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul, Dumnezeu.

²⁴Thus Ezekiel shall be a sign to you; according to all that he has done, you will do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.

²⁵Tu, însă, fiul omului, în ziua cînd le voi răpi ceeace face tăria lor, bucuria şi fala lor, ce le este scump ochilor şi lucrul iubit de ei, pe fiii şi fiicele lor,

²⁵You, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters,

²⁶în ziua aceea, va veni un fugar la tine, ca să-ţi dea de ştire şi să auzi cu urechile tale.

²⁶that in that day he who escapes shall come to you, to cause you to hear it with your ears?

²⁷În ziua aceea, ţi se va deschide gura odată cu a fugarului, vei vorbi, şi nu vei mai fi mut. Vei fi un semn pentru ei, şi vor şti că Eu sînt Domnul.``

²⁷In that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped, and you shall speak, and be no more mute: so you will be a sign to them; and they shall know that I am Yahweh.
