¹În vremea aceea, Ezechia a fost bolnav pe moarte. Proorocul Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, a venit la el, şi i -a zis: ,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,Pune-ţi în rînduială casa, căci vei muri, şi nu vei mai trăi.``

¹In those days was Hezekiah sick and near death. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him, and said to him, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Set your house in order, for you will die, and not live.’”

²Ezechia s'a întors cu faţa la părete, şi a făcut Domnului următoarea rugăciune:

²Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to Yahweh,

³,,Doamne, adu-Ţi aminte că am umblat înaintea Ta cu credincioşie şi inimă curată, şi am făcut ce este bine înaintea Ta!`` Şi Ezechia a vărsat multe lacrămi.

³and said, “Remember now, Yahweh, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” Hezekiah wept bitterly.

⁴Atunci cuvîntul Domnului a vorbit lui Isaia astfel:

⁵,,Du-te, şi spune lui Ezechia: ,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul tatălui tău David: ,Am auzit rugăciunea ta şi am văzut lacrămile tale. Iată că voi mai adăuga încă cincisprezece ani la zilele vieţii tale.

⁵“Go, and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says Yahweh, the God of David your father, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.

⁶Te voi izbăvi pe tine şi cetatea aceasta, din mîna împăratului Asiriei; voi ocroti cetatea aceasta.

⁶I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.

⁷Şi iată semnul din partea Domnului după care vei cunoaşte că Domnul va împlini cuvîntul pe care l -a rostit:

⁷This shall be the sign to you from Yahweh, that Yahweh will do this thing that he has spoken.

⁸voi întoarce înapoi cu zece trepte umbra treptelor cu care s'a pogorît soarele pe cadranul lui Ahaz.`` Şi soarele s'a dat înapoi cu zece trepte de pe treptele pe cari se pogorîse.

⁸Behold, I will cause the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down on the sundial of Ahaz with the sun, to return backward ten steps. So the sun returned ten steps on the sundial on which it had gone down.”’”

⁹Cîntarea lui Ezechia, împăratul lui Iuda, cu prilejul bolii şi însănătoşerii lui.

⁹The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and had recovered of his sickness.

¹⁰,,Ziceam: ,În cei mai buni ani ai vieţii mele trebuie să mă duc la porţile locuinţei morţilor! Sînt pedepsit cu perderea celorlalţi ani ai mei, cari-mi mai rămîn!

¹⁰I said, “In the middle of my life I go into the gates of Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. . I am deprived of the residue of my years.”

¹¹Ziceam: ,Nu voi mai vedea pe Domnul, pe Domnul, în pămîntul celor vii; nu voi mai vedea pe niciun om în locuinţa morţilor!

¹¹I said, “I won’t see Yah, Yah in the land of the living. I will see man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

¹²Locuinţa mea este luată şi mutată dela mine, ca o colibă de păstori. Îmi simt firul vieţii tăiat ca de un ţesător, care m'ar rupe din ţesătura lui. Pînă deseară îmi vei pune capăt.

¹²My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me like a shepherd’s tent. I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life. He will cut me off from the loom. From day even to night you will make an end of me.

¹³Am strigat pînă dimineaţa; ca un leu, îmi zdrobise toate oasele! Pînă deseară îmi vei pune capăt.

¹³I waited patiently until morning. He breaks all my bones like a lion. From day even to night you will make an end of me.

¹⁴Ciripeam ca o rîndunea, croncăneam ca un cocor, şi gemeam ca o porumbiţă. Ochii-mi priveau topiţi spre cer: ,Doamne, sînt în necaz, ajută-mă!`

¹⁴I chattered like a swallow or a crane. I moaned like a dove. My eyes weaken looking upward. Lord, I am oppressed. Be my security.”

¹⁵Ce să mai spun? El mi -a răspuns şi m'a ascultat. Acum voi umbla smerit pînă la capătul anilor mei, dupăce am fost întristat astfel.

¹⁵What will I say? He has both spoken to me, and himself has done it. I will walk carefully all my years because of the anguish of my soul.

¹⁶Doamne, prin îndurarea Ta se bucură omul de viaţă, prin ea mai am şi eu suflare, căci Tu mă faci sănătos şi îmi dai iarăş viaţa.

¹⁶Lord, men live by these things; and my spirit finds life in all of them: you restore me, and cause me to live.

¹⁷Iată, chiar suferinţele mele erau spre mîntuirea mea; Tu ai găsit plăcere să-mi scoţi sufletul din groapa putrezirii. Căci ai aruncat înapoia Ta toate păcatele mele!

¹⁷Behold, for peace I had great anguish, but you have in love for my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for you have cast all my sins behind your back.

¹⁸Căci nu locuinţa morţilor Te laudă, nu moartea Te măreşte, şi cei ce s'au pogorît în groapă nu mai nădăjduiesc în credincioşia Ta.

¹⁸For Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. can’t praise you. Death can’t celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit can’t hope for your truth.

¹⁹Ci cel viu, da, cel viu Te laudă, ca mine astăzi. Tatăl face cunoscut copiilor săi credincioşia Ta.

¹⁹The living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do this day. The father shall make known your truth to the children.

²⁰Domnul m'a mîntuit! De aceea, în toate zilele vieţii noastre vom suna din coardele instrumentelor noastre, în Casa Domnului.``

²⁰Yahweh will save me. Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of Yahweh.

²¹Isaia zisese: ,,Să se aducă o turtă de smochine, şi s'o întindă peste bubă; şi Ezechia va trăi.``

²¹Now Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a poultice on the boil, and he shall recover.”

²²Şi Ezechia zisese: ,,După ce semn voi cunoaşte că mă voi sui la Casa Domnului?``

²²Hezekiah also had said, “What is the sign that I will go up to the house of Yahweh?”
