¹În acelaş timp, Merodac-Baladan, fiul lui Baladan, împăratul Babilonului, a trimes o scrisoare şi un dar lui Ezechia, pentrucă aflase de boala şi însănătoşarea lui.

¹At that time, Merodach Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he heard that he had been sick, and had recovered.

²Ezechia s'a bucurat, şi a arătat trimeşilor locul unde erau lucrurile lui de preţ, argintul şi aurul, mirezmele şi untdelemnul de preţ, toată casa lui de arme, şi tot ce se afla în vistieriile lui: n'a rămas nimic în casa şi în ţinuturile lui, pe care să nu li -l fi arătat.

²Hezekiah was pleased with them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah didn’t show them.

³Proorocul Isaia a venit apoi la împăratul Ezechia, şi l -a întrebat: ,,Ce au spus oamenii aceia, şi de unde au venit la tine?`` Ezechia a răspuns: ,,Au venit la mine dintr'o ţară depărtată, din Babilon.``

³Then Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah, and asked him, “What did these men say? Where did they come from to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from a country far from me, even from Babylon.”

⁴Isaia a mai zis: ,,Ce au văzut în casa ta?`` Ezechia a răspuns: ,,Au văzut tot ce este în casa mea: n'a rămas nimic în vistieriile mele, pe care să nu li -l fi arătat.``

⁴Then he asked, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”

⁵Atunci Isaia a zis lui Ezechia: ,,Ascultă cuvîntul Domnului oştirilor!

⁵Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of Yahweh of Armies:

⁶,Iată, vor veni vremurile cînd vor duce în Babilon tot ce este în casa ta şi tot ce au strîns părinţii tăi pînă în ziua de azi; nimic nu va rămînea, zice Domnul.

⁶‘Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says Yahweh.

⁷,Şi vor lua din fiii tăi, ieşiţi din tine, pe cari -i vei naşte, casă -i facă fameni în casa împăratului Babilonului.``

⁷‘They will take away your sons who will issue from you, whom you shall father, and they will be eunuchs in the king of Babylon’s palace.’”

⁸Ezechia a răspuns lui Isaia: ,,Cuvîntul Domnului, pe care l-ai rostit, este bun. Căci, a adăugat el, măcar în timpul vieţii mele va fi pace şi linişte!``

⁸Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “Yahweh’s word which you have spoken is good.” He said moreover, “For there will be peace and truth in my days.”
