¹Într'o zi, Isus Se ruga într'un loc anumit. Cînd a isprăvit rugăciunea, unul din ucenicii Lui I -a zis: ,,Doamne, învaţă-ne să ne rugăm, cum a învăţat şi Ioan pe ucenicii lui.``

¹It happened, that when he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”

²El le -a zis: ,,Cînd vă rugaţi, să ziceţi: Tatăl nostru care eşti în ceruri! Sfinţească-se Numele Tău; vie Împărăţia Ta; facă-se voia Ta, precum în cer, aşa şi pe pămînt.

²He said to them, “When you pray, say, ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

³Pînea noastră cea de toate zilele dă-ne -o nouă în fiecare zi;

³ Give us day by day our daily bread.

⁴şi ne iartă nouă păcatele noastre, fiindcă şi noi iertăm oricui ne este dator; şi nu ne duce în ispită, ci izbăveşte-ne de cel rău.``

⁴ Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”

⁵Apoi le -a mai zis: ,,Dacă unul dintre voi are un prieten, şi se duce la el la miezul nopţii, şi -i zice: ,Prietene, împrumută-mi trei pîni,

⁵He said to them, “Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,

⁶căci a venit la mine de pe drum un prieten al meu, şi n'am ce -i pune înainte;`

⁶ for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’

⁷şi dacă dinlăuntrul casei lui, prietenul acesta îi răspunde: ,Nu mă turbura; acum uşa este încuiată, copiii mei sînt cu mine în pat, nu pot să mă scol să-ţi dau pîni`, -

⁷ and he from within will answer and say, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give it to you’?

⁸vă spun: chiar dacă nu s'ar scula să i le dea, pentrucă -i este prieten, totuş, măcar pentru stăruinţa lui supărătoare, tot se va scula şi -i va da tot ce -i trebuie.

⁸ I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

⁹Deaceea şi Eu vă spun: Cereţi, şi vi se va da: căutaţi, şi veţi găsi; bateţi şi vi se va deschide.

⁹ “I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.

¹⁰Fiindcă oricine cere, capătă; cine caută găseşte; şi celui ce bate, i se deschide.

¹⁰ For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

¹¹Cine este tatăl acela dintre voi, care, dacă -i cere fiul său pîne, să -i dea o piatră? Ori, dacă cere un peşte, să -i dea un şarpe în loc de peşte?

¹¹ “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?

¹²Sau, dacă cere un ou, să -i dea o scorpie?

¹² Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he?

¹³Deci, dacă voi, cari sînteţi răi, ştiţi să daţi daruri bune copiilor voştri, cu cît mai mult Tatăl vostru cel din ceruri va da Duhul Sfînt celor ce I -L cer!``

¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

¹⁴Isus a scos dintr'un bolnav un drac, care era mut. Dupăce a ieşit, dracul, mutul a grăit, şi noroadele s'au mirat.

¹⁴He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. It happened, when the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled.

¹⁵Dar unii ziceau: ,,El scoate dracii cu Beelzebul, domnul dracilor.``

¹⁵But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”

¹⁶Alţii, ca să -L ispitească, Îi cereau un semn, din cer.

¹⁶Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.

¹⁷Isus le -a cunoscut gîndurile, şi le -a zis: ,,Orice împărăţie desbinată împotriva ei, este pustiită; şi o casă desbinată împotriva ei, se prăbuşeşte peste alta.

¹⁷But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls.

¹⁸Deci, dacă Satana este desbinat împotriva lui însuş, cum va dăinui împărăţia lui, fiindcă ziceţi că Eu scot dracii cu Beelzebul?

¹⁸ If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

¹⁹Şi dacă eu scot dracii cu Beelzebul, fiii voştri cu cine îi scot? De aceea ei înşişi vor fi judecătorii voştri.

¹⁹ But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore will they be your judges.

²⁰Dar, dacă Eu scot dracii cu degetul lui Dumnezeu, Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu a ajuns pînă la voi.

²⁰ But if I by the finger of God cast out demons, then the Kingdom of God has come to you.

²¹Cînd omul cel tare şi bine înarmat îşi păzeşte casa, averile îi sînt la adăpost.

²¹ “When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.

²²Dar dacă vine peste el unul mai tare decît el şi -l biruieşte, atunci îi ia cu sila toate armele în care se încredea, şi împarte prăzile luate de la el.

²² But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.

²³Cine nu este cu Mine este împotriva Mea; şi cine nu adună cu Mine, risipeşte.

²³ “He that is not with me is against me. He who doesn’t gather with me scatters.

²⁴Duhul necurat, cînd iese afară dintr'un om, umblă prin locuri fără apă, şi caută odihnă. Fiindcă n'o găseşte, zice: ,Mă voi întoarce în casa mea, de unde am ieşit.`

²⁴ The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest, and finding none, he says, ‘I will turn back to my house from which I came out.’

²⁵Şi cînd vine, o găseşte măturată şi împodobită.

²⁵ When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order.

²⁶Atunci se duce de mai ia cu el alte şapte duhuri, mai rele decît el; intră împreună în casă, se aşează în ea, şi starea de pe urmă a omului aceluia ajunge mai rea decît cea dintîi.``

²⁶ Then he goes, and takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”

²⁷Pe cînd spunea Isus aceste vorbe, o femeie din norod şi -a ridicat glasul şi a zis: ,,Ferice de pîntecele care Te -a purtat, şi de ţîţele pe cari le-ai supt!``

²⁷It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!”

²⁸Şi El a răspuns: ,,Ferice mai degrabă de ceice ascultă Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu, şi -L păzesc!``

²⁸But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”

²⁹Pe cînd noroadele se strîngeau cu grămada, El a început să spună: ,,Neamul acesta este un neam viclean; el cere un semn; dar nu i se va da alt semn decît semnul proorocului Iona.

²⁹When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say, “This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah, the prophet.

³⁰Căci după cum Iona a fost un semn pentru Niniviteni, tot aşa şi Fiul omului va fi un semn pentru neamul acesta.

³⁰ For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will also the Son of Man be to this generation.

³¹Împărăteasa de la miazăzi se va scula, în ziua judecăţii, alături de bărbaţii acestui neam, şi -i va osîndi; pentrucă ea a venit dela capătul pămîntului ca să audă înţelepciunea lui Solomon; şi iată că aici este Unul mai mare decît Solomon.

³¹ The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and will condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here.

³²Bărbaţii din Ninive se vor scula, în ziua judecăţii, alături de neamul acesta, şi -l vor osîndi, pentrucă ei s'au pocăit la propovăduirea lui Iona; şi iată că aici este Unul mai mare decît Iona.

³² The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, one greater than Jonah is here.

³³Nimeni n'aprinde o lumină, ca s'o pună într'un loc ascuns sau supt baniţă; ci o pune într'un sfeşnic, pentru ca cei ce intră, să vadă lumina.

³³ “No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.

³⁴Ochiul este lumina trupului tău. Dacă ochiul tău este sănătos, tot trupul tău este plin de lumină; dar dacă ochiul tău este rău, trupul tău este plin de întunerec.

³⁴ The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.

³⁵Ia seama dar, ca lumina care este în tine, să nu fie întunerec.

³⁵ Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.

³⁶Aşa că, dacă tot trupul tău este plin de lumină, fără să aibă vreo parte întunecată, va fi în totul plin de lumină, întocmai ca atunci cînd te-ar lumina o lampă cu lumina ei mare.``

³⁶ If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”

³⁷Pe cînd vorbea Isus, un Fariseu L -a rugat să prînzească la el. El în intrat şi a şezut la masă.

³⁷Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in, and sat at the table.

³⁸Fariseul a văzut cu mirare că Isus nu Se spălase înainte de prînz.

³⁸When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner.

³⁹Dar Domnul i -a zis: ,,Voi, Fariseii, curăţiţi partea de afară a paharului şi a blidului, dar lăuntrul vostru este plin de jăfuire şi de răutate.

³⁹The Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.

⁴⁰Nebunilor, oare Acela care a făcut partea de afară, n'a făcut şi pe cea dinlăuntru?

⁴⁰ You foolish ones, didn’t he who made the outside make the inside also?

⁴¹Daţi mai bine milostenie din lucrurile dinlăuntru, şi atunci toate vă vor fi curate.

⁴¹ But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.

⁴²Dar vai de voi, Fariseilor! Pentrucă voi daţi zeciuială din izmă, din rută şi din toate zarzavaturile, şi daţi uitării dreptatea şi dragostea de Dumnezeu: pe acestea trebuia să le faceţi, şi pe celelalte să nu le lăsaţi nefăcute!

⁴² But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and the love of God. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.

⁴³Vai de voi, Fariseilor! Pentrucă voi umblaţi după scaunele dintîi la sinagogi, şi vă place să vă facă lumea plecăciuni prin pieţe!

⁴³ Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues, and the greetings in the marketplaces.

⁴⁴Vai de voi, cărturari şi Farisei făţarnici! Pentrucă voi sînteţi ca mormintele, cari nu se văd, şi peste cari oamenii umblă fără să ştie.``

⁴⁴ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them don’t know it.”

⁴⁵Unul din învăţătorii Legii a luat cuvîntul, şi I -a zis: ,,Învăţătorule, spunînd aceste lucruri ne ocărăşti şi pe noi.``

⁴⁵One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you insult us also.”

⁴⁶,,Vai şi de voi, învăţători ai Legii``, a răspuns Isus. ,,Pentrucă voi puneţi pe spinarea oamenilor sarcini grele de purtat, iar voi nici măcar cu unul din degetele voastre nu vă atingeţi de ele.

⁴⁶He said, “Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves won’t even lift one finger to help carry those burdens.

⁴⁷Vai de voi! Pentrucă voi zidiţi mormintele proorocilor, pe cari i-au ucis părinţii voştri.

⁴⁷ Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

⁴⁸Prin aceasta mărturisiţi că încuviinţaţi faptele părinţilor voştri; căci ei au ucis pe prooroci, iar voi le zidiţi mormintele.

⁴⁸ So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs.

⁴⁹De aceea Înţelepciunea lui Dumnezeu a zis: ,Le voi trimete prooroci şi apostoli; pe unii din ei îi vor ucide, iar pe alţii îi vor prigoni,

⁴⁹ Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute,

⁵⁰ca să se ceară dela acest neam sîngele tuturor proorocilor, care a fost vărsat dela întemeierea lumii:

⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

⁵¹dela sîngele lui Abel pînă la sîngele lui Zaharia, ucis între altar şi Templu; da, vă spun, se va cere dela neamul acesta!

⁵¹ from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.

⁵²Vai de voi, învăţători ai Legii! Pentrucă voi aţi pus mîna pe cheia cunoştinţei: nici voi n'aţi intrat, iar pe ceice voiau să intre, i-aţi împedecat să intre.``

⁵² Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn’t enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.”

⁵³După ce a ieşit de acolo, cărturarii şi Fariseii au început să -L pună la strîmtoare, şi să -L facă să vorbească despre multe lucruri;

⁵³As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him;

⁵⁴I-au întins astfel laţuri, ca să prindă vreo vorbă din gura Lui, pentru care să -L poată învinui.

⁵⁴lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
